I also have not posted my updated #2022ReadingBracket with July's favorite book. It was definitely The Bodyguard.

I always look forward to Katherine Center books because they are fun easy summer reads. I loved the plot line in creating a female bodyguard protecting a guy. Predictable in a story like this is not a bad thing, the fun is is reading it play out. …One of my favorite things is pet names authors give animals in their stories, but here that name is not to a dog but to the starlet supporting character - it‘s funny.
“The Bodyguard “ is all heart and is well deserving of the hype it has generated. Ms. Center put a lot of thought into this book and you definitely come away with an important message or two. I came away with how it‘s okay not to be so hard on yourself. Jack and Hannah are so sweet together. I love how they help each other heal as they fall in love. Plus, the book is funny! A lot of scenes had me laughing out loud. 😅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First challenge done! I don‘t know if I can read 12 more books in time to fulfill the next challenge but we shall see. 😃
This was so cute and the perfect end of summer read. Loved the back and forth between Hannah and Jack, and of course the fake dating trope is forever my favorite. Several laugh out loud moments will keep you engaged til the end.
The Bodyguard was my top read for July. I love Center‘s writing and characters. The ending of this one really made me happy. I love that we were able to see where the characters were in life (and love) a bit down the road.
I loved this book. It was light, full of humor, and just all around good feelings. Hannah‘s initial reaction to Jake is pretty much what I would do meeting Chris Hemsworth (x2 because the accent makes him a double threat). Anywho, if you‘re in need of a pure hearted romcom with a smidge of tension, I highly recommend this one.
August #doublespin complete! @TheAromaofBooks
Here are the books I‘ve chosen for @Clwojick for the month of August for #trappedonanisland
I hope you find a book or 2 you love!
Now this book is a perfect, complete, unabashed romcom book. Its funny and romantic with hints of issues, the bad ex, the unrealistically handsome love interest, certain emotional issues, and the touching heartfelt ending. The thing I like about this is that the story never tries to be anything else. Anything bigger than it was supposed to be. It's a simple, absolutely light-hearted feel good book. I would pick it up for a light read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In need of a fun, feel-good read to make you smile and remember the love and kindness in the world? Look no further! The exciting and heartfelt ending was the perfect cherry on top of this sweet literary ice cream sundae. Can this please be made into a movie? 🎧
If y‘all want a super fun, super light read this should make your TBR stack. Everything about this one was fun. I loved Hannah and Jack and all of the secondary characters. Easily a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!
Hey strangers! Long time no review 😬
Sorry for going MIA and thank you so much to everyone who checked in. I have no good reason for logging off for so long but hope to catch up on all my missed reviews.
My mom has gotten some good results from her scans and *fingers crossed* we‘re out of the woods.
…but I really enjoyed this one and flew through it on my trip to the beach yesterday (pre-sunburn). It wasn‘t nearly as cheesy as I expected.
I think I will enjoy my 7 hour ride to FL for vacay!!😁
Oh, what a genuinely fun read!! I love Center‘s books & this latest is one of her best yet! I can certainly see why it was a #BOTM option for July! Hannah is a bodyguard who‘s has a string of terrible tragedies- death, break-up & betrayal- she can‘t wait to escape into her work. But her latest assignment- guarding a hunky but reclusive actor, forces her out of her conform zone. It may include a few predictable tropes- but also contains real humor!
I flew through this one! It was such a fun, quick read. It‘s definitely a rom-com, but also has some heartbreak and sad things. I laughed a few times.
This book was so fun and a perfect summer read! Though it‘s way too hot to enjoy my new deck furniture. Currently experiencing a heat wave.
I‘ve lost count of books read for #JubilantJuly
This novel is a pure delight! I loved every minute of it and didn‘t want to put it down! Center had me grinning ear to ear-this is the epitome of a feel good read! The premise is perfect, he is the movie star and she is the bodyguard and they take turns being the hero. If you need a break, a smile, a reminder of the good that love can do in the world, read this book! #BOTM #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
Update for the #JubilantJuly Readathon. I‘ll be getting back to my normal reading routine tomorrow, so there‘s still a chance I‘ll finish these.
I liked this one a lot. A perfect mixture of humor and serious drama. Hannah is going through a lot of emotions from personal problems as she guards movie star, Jack Stapleton. She's tough and unique. I love how much Jack obviously adores everything about her. Fun tropes - fake dating and only one bed. Would definitely read this author again. #botm
Super cute and genuinely funny. Fake dating is one of my fave tropes.
My first book read by Center, and it will not be my last! Lots of humor, but also phrases that just hit me as so profound and “what I needed to hear.” Hannah is a “bodyguard,” and her current assignment is to guard hot movie star Jack Stapleton. Underneath the embarrassing moments and the laugh out loud humor are moments that resonated with me. Themes of finding love, forgiveness, and self worth are throughout this novel ⬇️⬇️⬇️
When you start to read a book by Katherine Center, you can expect three things: a lot of humor, light romance, and a feel-good story. Always perfect for a beach or weekend read. Not surprising that she is known as “the reigning queen of comfort reads.” I thoroughly enjoyed “The Bodyguard.”
Y‘all!! This book is just the best! It‘s fun, easy, lighthearted, and just an overall good read. I‘ve read all her other books and this is hands down my favorite!
#currentlyreading
This is my first Katherine Center. #botm
This is the first book I‘ve read by Katherine Center but it won‘t be my last. Very enjoyable romance.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
This is a fun little work place rom com with a deeper message of being the light in dark times. The writing felt a little choppy (probably edited down). But I laughed out loud more times than I do a Stephanie Plum novel. Fast and easy. Good book to read if you are going to a ranch
Loved it! I was sucked into the story right from the beginning and counts out it down.
And, in the end, do you ever truly know for sure if you‘re lovable?
What a question.
You don‘t. You can‘t. Of course not.
Life never hands out the answers like that.
But maybe that‘s not even the right question.
Maybe love isn‘t a judgment you render—but a chance you take. Maybe it‘s something you choose to do—over and over.
Doy yourself. And everyone else.
Oh man, that‘s a brutal burn right there. Best to be rid of him!
I enjoyed all of last week‘s reads & I‘m looking forward to my upcoming reads.
I‘ll be traveling the end of this week through the end of the month. Hopefully, I‘ll still have some good reading time throughout. 🤞🏻
Romance-genre-resistant? I am! If more romances were like this one, I might convert. Publication is expected July 19. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#the-bodyguard

My July #botm were delivered today. Added the two books to my TBR cart.😁📚
Center likes to keep things very light in her style of writing. Lot‘s of one line zingers, and fast dialogue keep this book moving. At times, this book did seem a little predictable, however this is Katherine Center, and she tends to make any story sparkle.
I don‘t remember picking my books this fast! In under a minute! Christmas in July is real! 💚♥️💚♥️
This was a delight. Hannah - the bodyguard - and Jack - the actor who wasn't thrilled to have a bodyguard - didn't follow the “I hate you“ “I love you“ trope. Because of this, their relationship evolution was more interesting. Both had backstories. Hers included more than boyfriend troubles and insecurities. He was more than “broody with a secret.“
Sometimes you could see what was coming. But who cares if the ride is fun?
#arc
“You look like a Victorian child.” One of the MCs commenting on the other MC‘s pajamas. 🤣
Just started this and it‘s pretty interesting so far. The female MC isn‘t an event planner, designer, librarian, or marketer. 😆 (Why are these the default “lady” jobs?)
The author refers to the male MC going off the grid “in the mountains of North Dakota.” Huh? Was there an editor or fact checker? 😄
Could not be more excited to start this ARC!!! I have loved Katherine Center‘s previous books and expect to fly through it ✈️
I always enjoy Center‘s books, and this one can also be added to that list. Hannah Brooks is an Executive Protection Agent (bodyguard) who is assigned primary lead as protection when the gorgeous movie star Jack Stapleton visits Houston to be near his mom for cancer treatments. Hannah wants to shine for a future promotion and ends up acting as Jack‘s pretend gf against her better judgment. And of course, to avoid distractions, agents cannot 🔻

🪷 Lots! But a recent read was Sunshine by Robin McKinley. It needs a sequel yesterday. 😂😂

This is an #ARC from Net Galley. I was very excited to read it. I quickly connected with Hannah, the bodyguard, and thoroughly enjoyed being in her head. She was witty, funny, relatable and underestimated. It moved along quite well and made me feel good. It was a sweet, closed door love story + a little danger. The forced proximity trope and “family forever“ brought to mind the movie “The Proposal“ with Ryan Reynolds. There you go! Happy Reading!
#NetGalley This was the summer rom-com audiobook I didn‘t know I needed! While the story is overly predictable, I was gripped and invested from the first word. Hannah‘s work usually requires her to be mostly invisible but as she‘s assigned the job of protecting megawatt star Jack Stapleton her quiet life is thrown into the spotlight. Of course chaos & romance ensues🖤
Ok; so this book is totally one hundred percent predictable but…
I‘m actually LOVING it❣️❣️❣️My summer brain is SO HAPPY right now 😁I already see this playing on the big screen🤩Hello, Hemsworth Brothers!
