Looking forward, here's the plan for August! Tagged is the book I'm most excited for, we will see what the randomizer holds!
Delightfully zany, with madcap adventure and supernatural mysteries around every corner, this middle grades comic follows 5 friends and cabin mates at the Lumberjane scout summer camp. It‘s very fast paced and I had a little trouble keeping track of all the main characters, but enjoyed the ride!

This is one of my favorite graphic novels.

This was a pandemic obsession with me. Some people made sourdough starter, I read YA graphic novels about empowering young girls. There is nothing I don't love about this series and all it represents. I've devoured the first ten volumes, and only stopped bc my library doesn't have a copy of volume 11, though it seems they have the rest of the series. 🤷♀️

This has been on my TBR for ages. Somehow it was not at all what I expected, though it was great fun, and I‘m thrilled that I finally read it. I‘m not sure I‘ll continue with the series myself, but I‘ll definitely be recommending it to kids. #BBRC Middle School Cross Worlds #WinterGames2021 #TeamGameSleighers @StayCurious @LibrarianRyan
Book shopping for Christmas is my favorite Christmas shopping! Even better when done at a local independent bookstore like Lark and Owl in Georgetown, Texas!
Though barely squeaking into a “pick“, I have faith in this series. I loved Noelle Stevenson's Nimona, so I just feel like there's got to be more in store than I was given in this first installment. It was a good art style with fun characters, it just had a bit of a weird narrative that felt like it jumped around a lot. The whole ride felt like I was horribly hyped up on sugar & unable to sit still. *Shrug* We'll see what happens in Volume 2.
1. I'm more of a glamping girl- cabin, RV, maybe a hotel.
2. Either Camp Happy Glampers or Camp Backpackers, Overpacker, and Six-Packers
3. Lumberjanes series
4. Listen at least 2 audiobooks and read 1/2 of Silence of the Dead and the next volume of Lumberjanes.

Picked up another graphic novel (well Libby picked up type of thing) to see... I had heard good things. And well.. Although it was good. It wasn't quite for me. I don't think I will continue this series

This was such a cute and quirky adventure. I couldn't put it down once I started it and I loved every wild second of it.
FRIENDSHIP TO THE MAX!
This is definitely something I would have appreciated in my early teens particularly when struggling with my sexuality and identity. I am beyond thrilled that something like this exists now.
As an adult I find it cute though not as engaging as I thought I would. This is something I would like to share with my nieces when they are older.
I have been looking for these comics for a while now and thanks to kindle giving me 3 months for 99p I can now read up to volume 5.
I love the friendship these girls have, the adventures are amazing, just goes to show you can have brains and be cool at the same time.

Every week, I highlight #LGBTQAuthors as part of #TheRainbowShelf 🏳️🌈 American cartoonist Noelle Stevenson is the creative mind behind Lumberjanes and the She-Ra cartoon on Netflix. Their work has won Eisner awards, and her autobiographical graphic novel was published earlier this year. They're married to cartoonist Moppy Ostertag. #LGBTQ #QueerAuthors #NonBinary #IntegrateYourBookShelf
Y‘all. Y‘ALL. I love Noelle Stevenson. I love Lumberjanes. I love She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
This is going to be amazing. 😍😍😍

May favs: Bramble&Blood, & Lumberjanes 😃
👍 I love the way the characters have interacted so far, (I'm at chapter 3, at the moment). I enjoy how annoyed Jen (Jenny) gets at different things, and how all the Roanoke cabin campers say “what the junk“ its so funny and unique, I love it so far! 💗 😄
I'm joining @Andrew65 and sharing some of my favorite series.
Day 14: Lumberjanes (in progress)
YA comic series. At a summer camp for hardcore lady-types, 5 best friends earn badges & find themselves kicking butt on supernatural quests. So much fun! We see that someone can be strong and vulnerable or talented and insecure. Some LGBTQ representation & girl power! They name drop obscure women you should know.

This is literally the cutest graphic novel I‘ve ever read! 💕 I can‘t wait to devour the next one!
*Barely a Spoiler*
Almost doesn‘t qualify ✔️
Collaborative storytelling. Inspiring ✨
Makes me crave some D&D quality time with friends.
This series is 👌 legit, I LOVE it!

More Lumberjanes!
Otherwise, I will just be happy to read period.
Since I cannot return these to the library, I got them for my daughter, I guess I'll read them? I've already read Lumberjanes, but has anyone read the other two? They look cute.
A quick reread. I read Volume 1 a few years ago and it didn‘t capture me enough to continue. Decided to give it another go, and enjoyed it more this time!
It‘s weird, but fun.
On to Volume 2.

Weekly forecast under new conditions:
✨ No school indefinitely (at least 2 wks)
✨ No extracurriculars
✨ Living with a stressed doctor
✨ Overseeing Maya‘s online learning
✨ Helping my only child cope with all the new restrictions
We‘re taking it day by day. I have no idea what I‘ll be reading tomorrow, let alone this week! 🤣 Practicing patience and gratitude for all those working hard to get us through this pandemic.
Another match made in comic book heaven! These girls become so alive, it's like I hear them talking in my head. And I love how they, instead of swearing, make an obscure reference to a historical person, f.i. "oh my Phyllis Wheatley!" Might start doing that ??

🔷️ Read more Lumberjanes
🔷️ Finish A Lesson in Secrets
🔷️ Finish Starsight
🔷️ Read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
🔷️ ... Probably other stuff that is not planned!
Got another #winterbookbingo book down! I will continue the series so I can knock out YA also!
I am a huge fan of YA and graphic novels! This series is adorable! The characters need a little more developing, but it‘s a whole series and I am looking forward to seeing these characters blossom into the hardcore lady types they will become!
Unpopular opinion, but I didn't love it. This is the 2nd time I've attempted it & both times it's fallen flat for me. I like that Stevenson has an entire world built in this camp, and these are all developed characters w/full personalities & histories. I can feel the background there, but I didn't feel like we explored any of it. Some jokes were funny & I really enjoy the use of female heroes as interjections, but I never felt completely engaged.
If I read the phrase “what the junk” one more time I might scream. For some irrational reason that got on my nerves. It was on almost every page. There also was not much of a plot. I‘m kind of confused as to what happened. The art work was great though, but I probably won‘t continue with the series.
⭐️⭐️
Ha! My little guy is an avid "reader" but is very gentle of spirit and "dark" things scare him. I bring home graphic novels from the library occasionally and he has been looking through Lumberjanes but sometimes gets scared so has been "forbidden" to read it. I found him tucked away in a corner looking through it. ?? Reading problems start young in this household. ??♀️ (Too cute!!!)
I'm not entirely sure what I just read, but Lumberjanes are always a delight so it's okay. They're forgiven for how bizarre this was.
Well, that was just as delightful as everyone has said. I‘m definitely going to buy it for my library! #LibrariansofLitsy
I‘m not sure how I hadn‘t read Lumberjanes yet, but I‘m remedying this immediately.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ A group of misfit friends go on scouting adventures in a fantasy-eque forest. Weird three-eyed creatures and other oddities ensue. I won‘t be continuing the series, but can see how it would appeal to middle graders. I wasn‘t into the story. I think I‘m just too old. 😆 Nice artwork, though!
Meh. I‘m not quite sure how to rate this one. It was kinda cute and kinda funny, I think I wasn‘t expecting it to be quite so weird. Idk, I liked it. And I have a few volumes that I bought on a whim from ComiXology, so I‘ll keep reading and see if it gets better. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This comics series has been on my radar for some time, lauded by readers and lists alike for positive representation and engaging story. The latter was less so, at least for me as a reader; ultimately I was not engaged by the excessive - and thus realistic - juvenile antics. This doesn‘t make the book bad, just bad for me.
ETA: My kids have become obsessed with this series as of this week, especially the 7-year-old
Funny and entertaining — definitely going to read more of this series. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

A cute middle grade to mid teen Graphic novel that is as my 7th grade niece described it “Girl Scouts meets Gravity Falls”. She loved it, I liked it. I enjoyed the drawing style and the cover gallery in the back. I don‘t typically read graphic novels and only did so to complete a reading challenge but I liked the overall vibe.
Look at all these Lumberjanes I found at the Friends of the Library sale this morning. They only had these ones and there are 20 there. I just couldn‘t believed I found so many! 😱😱
