Ali Mau is a famous journalist and TV presenter in NZ who led the reporting here on #MeToo and broke stories on abusers. (And is an Australian originally!) This is her memoir about her life, breaking into journalism, and her own childhood abuse which was repressed for many years. She also went through hell in the 90s when the press discovered her same sex relationship. Well written and thought provoking, ⬇️
I love a campus novel so wanted to read this - in fact, the later story was the better half, I thought.
In 1998 Ros‘s Regis uni roommate Megan goes missing in a terrible snowstorm and Ros is blamed for not looking after her.
Over 20 years later Ros‘s former partner is accused during the #metoo movement, leading Ros to look back on her life as a teenager, the mistakes she made and the lies we tell ourselves.

I scored better than last week, though not by much. There were so many great books in this group that spanned totally different genres. My favorites are (not in any order):
The Clan of the Cave Bear
Good Omens
Black Beauty
Emma
Matilda
The Hobbit
LOTR
Dune
The Pillars of the Earth

This book caught my eye when I was book shopping with @Rissreadswithcats & when I read the blurb I decided to buy it. A French epistolary novel that starts with a derogatory social media post. Addiction and recovery, #metoo and the pandemic feature in this guns-blazing, disturbing read.
What a book of horror. I‘m not a parent but sometimes I wonder how ya‘ll let your children out into the world. We follow Vanessa in alternating timelines. In 2017 set against the #MeToo movement where she‘s following all the allegations against a former high school English teacher. In 2000 where she‘s 15 and enters a sexual relationship with that teacher. In 2017 she‘s barely coming to realize that she herself was a victim. This was sad and 👇🏼
One of my favorite things about my neighborhood is spring, we have over a thousand cherry blossom trees and it makes my daily neighborhood walks a total pleasure.
Listening to the tagged, at the point where Pamela is making friends with Kick Kennedy and trying to stay clear of the gross Ambassador Kennedy. Would have loved to have seen him go through #MeToo
