I cheated a bit bc I saw some of what happens in future chapters, but I don't really mind that and found it helpful. I dunno if I would have the time and patience to look back at guides if I wasn't reading one ch per day with you all so I'm glad I'm here 😂 10mo

Ruthiella Poor Agnes. They really are awful children. Though Agnes also often thinks a good whipping might set them straight, which isn‘t in keeping with how many modern parents raise their children. 2y

AnnR It seems the son gets his temper and bullying ways by example from the father. I don't think “Patience, Firmness, and Perseverance“ is going to be enough to reign in these little terrors otherwise. What on earth do the parents expect Agnes (or any governess) to do, in order to get the spoiled brats to take their studies seriously. 2y

The difference is that teachers today are trained to deal with kids while Agnes has no idea what she's doing. 2y
