Extremely underwhelming. The only scary thing about it was that the banter between the characters wasn't ending. Can't believe it's added to the top lists for Horror books

'What if it's us' is a sweet story of Ben and Arthur who bump into each other at the Post office and try to figure out what the universe has in store for them. It's a cute novel but I realise most of these YA books seem to blend into one another. So it ran the risk of being clichéd.

Tanay and Anuja, brother and sister, fall for their paying guest. He remains nameless throughout, a mystery to the reader too. He, too reciprocates the love of both siblings. When he decides to elope with Anuja, all hell breaks loose on their middle class Indian family.
Deeply moving. Melancholic. Profound. Evoked a lot of sadness in me.
Very underrated book.

Both Tanay and Anuja, brother and sister fall for their mysterious and handsome tenant. He is quiet, smart, and obviously alluring. But when he runs away with Anuja, it tears the family apart. This book has such an air of melancholic despondence. Full of heartbreak and sadness.

Openly Straight is a sweet story about Rafe who is out. Or used to be. Once he moves to his new school, he decides to not be openly gay. He says he isn't lying or trying to avoid a label. But when he falls for the big, cute, sentimental Ben, suddenly he is all confused. This was such a bittersweet story. I understood why the author didn't go for a fairytale ending. It made sense.

Bonk was a hilarious book from the get-go. It talked about how people have carried research on sex, despite conservative attitudes. I am leaving this book with an exceptionally high knowledge of vibrators, dildos, clitoral stimulation, vaginal orgasms, penis anatomy, and animal sex. Go figure!

This was a huge disappointment. The story starts brilliantly with a enunch, Anjum as the protagonist. Then it devolves into a political rant about everything wrong with the country. I wish more of the story revolved around Anjum. A huge letdown, this one.

If you're travelling and want something to read, then this will serve as an entertaining book. It's funny in places, extremely light to read and very disarming. However, don't expect any profound revelations or any quotes that you may want to use in front of others. You'll be sorely disappointed.

Eleanor is completely fine. She has a stable job, a fixed routine, crosswords, her mum to talk to. She doesn't feel lonely. Suddenly she finds a friend in the bumbling IT guy, Raymond, and she realizes how platonic bonds can enrich your life.
As much as I wanted to love this, it was an underwhelming book. It was nowhere near completely fine. If anything, it was barely fine. I was disappointed.

Spent my day doodling this and re-reading some of the poems.

With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise" ❤️❤️

Agatha Christie is the Queen of Crime Fiction. No one can touch her. In this book, murders are starting to occur in alphabetical order, and Poirot is getting letters regarding the same beforehand. A man has been observed lurking around the murder scenes. Is he responsible? Is it a huge coincidence? Is someone else doing it? She answers all the questions in the most logical fashion. Loved it ❤️

WHOAAAAA! This was so fun to read. Joker's madness has driven Superman to insanity. He is now hell-bent on establishing peace by violence, without realising the contradiction in his aim and his ethics. He won't stop at any cost. And any friend that crosses him, is likely to die. Including Batman.

This was an absolutely amazing graphic novel! Amal just broke his engagement and came out to his parents in one day, and decides to travel with stranger TJ to another city on impulse. And slowly, a friendship and relationship blossoms. The art is beyond brilliant. The story is amazing. I finished it in one sitting.

This is a sweet coming-of-age book about Simon Spier, who isn't out to anyone. He keeps mailing the mysterious Blue, who is also in his school, but whose identity he doesn't know. When Martin threatens to blackmail him, to get close to his friend Abby, how will Simon react? Will Blue's identity be discovered? What will Abby do? Will Simon be outed? It's a sweet book. Would have loved it even more some years ago.

I Kill Giants is a story about a young girl who is angry at the world. She is waging a lone battle against giants that surround her and her family. It is a touching story about the power of escapism in the face of obstacles in life. It also deals with the need for the support of friends and family to overcome the challenge in life.

Daytripper is a fascinating story where the character, Bras, dies in the end of every chapter at different ages in his life. It is an interesting take on life and death, and what makes you feel as though you've accomplished enough in life. Success, family, friends, passion. What defines a good life? When can you die thinking you've lived your purpose? A great book.

When The Wind Blows is a graphic novel about the impact of a nuclear fallout, through the eyes of an old, domestic couple. The entire book, the couple confuses who the enemy is, is too preoccupied with domestic chores, is ill equipped to comprehend the situation, unaware of the impact of nuclear war and yet, they are trying their hardest to be good citizens.

Gut wrenching story of a Holocaust survivor and his strained relationship with his son. It is a very hard hitting book that conveys its message through black and white panels, which are exquisite. What a marvellous book!

On surface, it is a bland story of two friends, Sal and Dean, and their numerous adventures on the road. Yet Jack creates a charming atmosphere. It feels alien to think of a time when people could just flit from town to town with little money and care for their lives. Dean, the conman was wily but you could see why Sal was smitten by him. Maybe he was in love? The book was worth the ride though.

Halfway through this one. The protagonist, Sal, has already travelled more than I have in my entire life. Hahaha.

I finished reading The Handmaid's Tale. The point about restricting women's freedom in the name of society's moral improvement isn't just a dystopian idea. It's something we see everyday. I mistook the Historical notes as not being part of the book. Once I read that, the book's experience changed entirely. Turns out, a woman's story was, unfortunately, still shaped by a man ultimately.
1. Brida.
2. Mrs. Dalloway
3. The hours
4. Marley and Me
5. Castle, Kenny Schmidt
6. Ayn Rand
7. Arundhati Roy

12. None that I know :P
13. George R R Martin
Bonus - Modern Romance

Modern Romance is a book that is funny in places but lacking in insights. In 250 pages, I found out obvious things like, people don't marry young these days, people cheat, Tinder has changed dating, people sext, people play mind games on text etc.
The case studies on Qatar, Japan, Argentina and France were interesting. Aziz's humour can push the book to a level, but it can't compensate for the lack of insights.
So far, the book has presented Ansari's penchant for humour alongwith tidbits about how dating has evolved over time. Will keep everyone posted on how it turns out eventually :)

Jerry Pinto's Em and the Big Hoom is a cute, idiosyncratic story of life with an eccentric, manic depressive matriarch. We get an idea of who she is but that seems about it. None of the other characters are given as much depth and description.
I give props to the author for bringing mental health to the forefront but I am not confident if the story will stick with me for a long time.
