I was not prepared for this book. I've been eyeing it up for a while but never read the blurb so didn't realise it was about a child abduction 🙈

I think it's been done really well, I didn't have the impending doom feeling all the way through, lots of twists and turns and a real page turner! Not sure about the last 3 pages though...

My favourite book of 2018 (So far). Absolutely heart breaking...for every single victim and for the fact that Michelle Mcnamara can't be here to see some justice finally be served! Her writing style is beautiful and the guys who finished this book did a wonderful job of honouring the years of work she put into this! What a book. What a women. #murderino #mfm #thattruecrimelife #goldenstatekiller #ear-ons #gsk #michellemcnamara #books2018

[DELETED] 3517561138 Oh get ready for it. It's going to sucker punch you down flat, stomp on your chest, rip your heart out, and then just when you think you'll die from all the feels it will just leave you gravely injured and suffering- for a whole freaking year!!! Well nearly so. But it's oh so good. 3y
Whatshereadnext @Prairiehomelibrarian oh good god! I cant cope 😣 I've got empire of storms waiting but I need to drag it out, I can't wait a year!!! 3y
[DELETED] 3517561138 It's so worth it though! And I guess I was thinking EoS when I was talking about the heart stomping and feeling as though you've been gutted and left to suffer miserably for a year until the next book comes out. But goodness each of Maas' books ends with a throat punch in the feels. Which is part of what makes them so good! 3y
Whatshereadnext @Prairiehomelibrarian so I finished it....I'm drained! So bloody good!!! That court though 😍 3y

I hate that I didnt like this book but I really dont understand the point of it. These diary extracts give an unbelievably detailed insight into some of the 40 Commando soldiers daily lives out in Afghanistan in 2008, but mostly the boredom and mundanity of their daily duties interspersed with life threatening encounters. I have so much respect for these men and women but this book feels like a memorial to lt John Thornton and nothing else.

I bought this book a couple of years ago and I never read it. I was so daunted by the hype surrounding it that I never imagined it could be as good as people said. But I love this book. I love the way it's written, the characters, the battles and the mystery. And I love it all the more after reading that there are some autobiographical elements including Dill being based on Harper's childhood friend Truman Capote 🙀

LittleBowBook I love love love this book! I read it as a kid, and again in high school. One of my favourites. But the sequel was like a punch in the gut. If you love Atticus, don't read it. 3y
