My first trip ever to The Strand and one of the things I picked up was a blind date with a book! I‘ve never read this but saw the film. I‘m looking forward to diving in!

Some late night reading. Started this one about a week ago and though reading is slow going for me lately, I‘m intrigued to see where the story goes and how the writing conveys certain elements of it.
Late night reading.
Been reading this the last month. Feel like a slowpoke but I don‘t mind!
Hellooooo, it‘s me!
Sunday reads.
Thank you sooo much @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego @Mynameisacolour and @Amandajoy !! I love all of them. I wish I could use them at once. Actually, what‘s stopping me?? 🥴 #ThisIsHowYouBreakABookworm #BookmarkSwap
And thank you again to @LibrarianRyan for hosting! 🖤
3 of 3! Woo! #BookmarkSwap I cannot wait! Thanks so much for hosting @LibrarianRyan !! (P.S. love the washi tape, stickers, and Litsy handles).
Not sure of the Litsy handle of the sender (can‘t find their name either) but yay! Got this today in the mail! #BookmarkSwap
I had a dog named Dog from birth until age 7, and this book is making me do all kinds of reminiscing every time I read the name. 🥰
She used to say that the heartbeat was the first music that a person heard, and that every child was born knowing the rhythm of her mother‘s song.
Elodie was a nostalgic person, but she hated the charge. The word was terribly maligned. People used it as a stand-in for sentimentality, when it wasn‘t that at all. It described a yearning of the most profound kind: an awareness that time‘s passage could not be stopped and there was no going back to reclaim a moment or a person or to do things differently. - Kate Morton
What to say about this...? “Unexpected” may be the best word, and I don‘t know whether that‘s good or bad. Dockrill does a good job at keeping you latched on, I just wish there had been... more.
Today I‘ve decided to start this! I‘ve seen people have opinions that go both ways, so we‘ll see! #CurrentlyReading #SundayReading
I have spent a few days avoiding this book, so I think it‘s time to call it quits. I LOVE the indigenous people aspect of this story, unfortunately that was the only interesting part to me. The author got distracted immersing us in “Story” (a part of the indigenous culture), that she forgot about the...story. 🤷🏻♀️😅
I enjoyed this story, Xiaolu is able to convey the internal struggles of a young person, Fenfang, in Beijing. Despite life‘s obstacles, she manages to keep her strength at every step. I would have liked to have read the original version, as the author rewrote it once it was translated to English. 🤷🏻♀️ But I enjoyed reading about the blunt, sometimes somber, sometimes hopeful edges of Fenfang‘s life.
Favorite part: Heavenly Bastard in the Sky.
When you‘re feeling sick on the Fourth of July it means you get to read and no one gets to make comments about it. 😆 It‘s looking like it‘s turning into dreary weather in PA. 🥴
Happy 4th to all who celebrate! 🎇🎆🇺🇸
What‘s everyone else planning to read this weekend?
I‘m starting this, a collection of stories that tells of things like heartbreak, pain, tragedy. It‘s been on my TBR since I saw that pretty cover in the bookstore. 😅 #FridayReads
I really loved the murder mystery, and how the author told the story. I felt like I was just as lost as Aiden at every step (I felt like it was the authors intent, so I didn‘t have a problem with that). I did have a problem with when the identity of Anna and Aiden is revealed - without any real detail of memory from Aiden about his sister, etc, it didn‘t have very much impact. It should have been a more pivotal moment... 👇🏻
I‘ve been having to move my book all morning to accommodate her. She can‘t stop me!! 😆 #KAL #CatsOfLitsy
“I am so hip I have difficulty seeing over my pelvis.” The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Douglas Adams
Hanging out with the lovely Lulu this evening while settling down to read this. 😻 #CatsOfLitsy
#downphoto Endless possibilities of fun downtime messages with this. 😹
I was mostly able to look past the faults of the first two novels (overly flowery language, romance quibbles) because I loved certain things about each of them. But it seemed like no matter what I did, I wasn‘t able to look past those things for this one. It was as if all the bad qualities from the first two were put together into one for a grand, well... finale. Perhaps without the element of Caraval, it lost the necessary magic. 👇🏻👇🏻
1) Done!
2) My niece mispronouncing “popsicle.” The p was replaced with c - hilarious as you can imagine.
3) 🧐 This is a hard one. Maybe Italian.
4) I only know of my cousins on my maternal side: I‘m fairly certain I have 13...ish. 🤣
5) thanks for the tag @Lizpixie I‘m not sure who hasn‘t done it at this point but feel free to use my post as an invitation to do so! ♥️

Squeee! (Yeah, that‘s a noise. Nope, I don‘t normally make it). Got this yesterday! Sad it‘s over, but excited to read it. I‘m in uncharted territory... I have never read three books at once. 😳 Send help.
‘...a book is a mirror that offers us only what we already carry inside us, that when we read, we do it with all our heart and mind...‘
- The Shadow of the Wind, Carlos Ruiz Zafrón
I‘m sure we‘ve all seen this one before, but there‘s no shame in dusting off an old goodie for some Saturday #LitsyHumor 🙂
Beautiful. Procrastinated reading this because I know what The Kite Runner did to me. 😭 But I‘m hunkering down. It. Is. Time. ✊🏻 Wish me luck; please keep unlimited tissue supply on hand.
I GUESS it can wait... #KAL #CatsOfLitsy
Update: he turned around and tried to put his bum on it so I didn‘t feel so bad after that! What‘s everyone reading this weekend?
This book is full of beautiful, some powerful, quotes and it was rude of me to pick just one for the photo. Sometimes the story and character building walked the fine line of leaving me a little bored and for my mind to wander, which resulted in figuring more of the story out. The writing more than redeems this. My spoiler comment was frustrating for me. 🤯
Hopefully going to finish this tonight, but Handles isn‘t really into me reading... He keeps blocking my view (this is a photo from about 30 minutes ago when he was being adorable and not ALLATTENTIONMUSTBEONMEHUMAN). 🥴😻 #BookBlocking ? #KAL #CatsOfLitsy #LittenKitten
I didn‘t catch the email that I won a #GoodreadsGiveAway and got this pretty edition! 😍 So yay for the surprise in the mail yesterday! This will be an interesting read. #BookMail
Not yet a part of the #BirthdayLove but would like to be? Send your birth month and date and Litsy handle to litsybirthdays(at)gmail(dot)com so we can add you to the birthday calendar and join in celebrating you on your special day!
#CurrentlyReading Unfortunately I forget who sent me this so I'm sending out a universal "thank you". ?? It has so far been intriguing from the start.
With Rus‘ on the brink of war, Vasya is faced with coming to its aide more than once, forcing her to decide who she will become. I was very impressed with the character development, each having fully come into their own. Arden did well tying up most loose ends to the story, and ultimately I was happy with the ending to this trilogy. Sad to see Vasya go, but I will revisit her.
#BookMail ! Today I received this (it‘s gorgeous with the dust cover off!) along with my 13th doctor. I‘m so excited for the book, though I plan on reading through the Grisha series so I can better enjoy. In other news, the 10th is hiding in the TARDIS because Missy is requesting he say something nice. 👀
Vasya gave him a dazzling smile, without warmth. “You shouldn‘t have told them I was a girl. Then they might have believed that I was dangerous.”
Review is for the new story included. The new short story covers some of the time Binti first spends at the university and her feelings as she just begins to try to cope with the events of the first novella. If I hadn‘t read this before, it‘s great insight to have. Having read it before, it feels an unnecessary addition. But I do love Binti, so I was happy to have that new bit to read!
March is almost upon us! Help us spread the #BirthdayLove by joining us on the @LitsyBirthdays posts to wish our March born Littens happy birthday on their special day!
If you‘d like your birthday added to the calendar please email litsbirthdays(at)gmail(dot)com with your Litsy handle and birth month & day!
I am so excited! 🎉🎉💗
I was final able to read and finish a book. I adored this movie and had the book on my TBR for way too long. I liked being able to see the growth of Charlie over the course of the year through his letter writing. It does deal with some triggering material, but it‘s what makes for such a poignant coming-of-age story. Absolutely loved this.
Weekend read. #MonthOfZusak #AuthorAMonth
1) Doctor Who (I had to add the latest doctor separately, Jodie)!
2) Spending time with family and ya know, reading. Eating. Pretending I‘ll be doing that last one different in 2019. 😆
3) Historical fiction
4) Asking my brain where it all went wrong that we are still awake at 6a.
5) 13th Doctor Who‘s Funko POP!
#HumpDayPost
I have so much love for this book! The inclusivity with sexuality was heavily emphasized, but it needed to be for how naive Nettie was. A bit anticlimactic at the end for me - I was expecting more from it. I‘m interested in where Nettie‘s story takes her and so I‘ll be picking up the next book.
#CurrentlyReading I have been wanting to start this trilogy for a while, so here I go!
Put a bit of a dent in this with my niece today! She‘s 7, her first time reading it and mine too. So far it‘s been a fun adventure!
Time for Litsy awards!!
