Decent historical fiction, but not for me.
So so many DNFs lately....

Known as the Welsh Trilogy, Penman‘s brilliant homage to Welsh history.
It is with a heavy heart that I share this news from Sharon Kay Penman‘s Facebook page. She was an amazing writer, one of my favorites, and had a lovely way with her fans. She will be greatly missed.
Historical fiction at its best! This novel tells the story of Llewelyn the Great and his wife Joanna, rulers of Wales in the early 1200s. The characters felt so real and just jumped off the page. Can‘t wait to read the next one in the series!
A good reading month! I loved Dragons and Goon Squad. Three Wishes and The Institute we‘re both ok and Bunny was a bail! 😉 #augustwrapup (Sorry about the naff photo, Pic Collage is really playing up lately! 🙄)
Historical fiction writing at its best! This is an epic, sweeping story of 13th century England and Wales. Following Eleanor of Aquitaine‘s children with a Game of Thrones feel, this is fast paced and thrilling! I felt completely immersed in Medieval life and I can‘t wait to read the rest of the trilogy. (I‘ve ordered them off eBay already 😆) Thank you so much @TrishB for introducing me to this amazing Author! 😘 👍
Just about to get in the bath with this bad boy! I am LOVING this book and the kids are watching ‘You‘ve been framed‘ so I‘m hoping I might get 30mins of peace before anyone‘s noticed I‘ve snuck off! 🤫 🤞 🛁

Going with the same as @Andrew65 today😁
I love these copies and a little note from Sharon ❤️
Top notch historical fiction.
Day 5 of #Top20Series #20Series20Days
My favourite historical author, Sharon Kay Penman. Have chosen the Brilliant Welsh Princes Trilogy as I love the whole story and the characters. My favourite historical trilogy.
This looks fun, and I‘m in! #BigBookSummerChallenge it is!
The tagged book is my first read. I‘m planning a total of 4; one tk from the library. I soooo hope it will open soon.
#7days7books For #day2 of life-changing books, I present the book and the author that started my obsession with throughly researched, skillfully written historical fiction. I really need to reread these. Maybe I‘ll make next year a #yearofpenman. 🤔💖
This was a rich meal of a book, like a chicken stew. I liked following Joanna as a main character and found the more nuanced portrait of King John interesting (although I still default to thinking of him as Bad King John, like Margaret Dashwood does 😆). Looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy, although with a break first.
#GratefulReads I love love love a good chunkster! And Sharon Kay Penman is the best. This is my favorite trilogy all coming in at over 500 pages a piece.

Someone on Facebook asked which was the book you read that got you hooked on historical fiction and I realized it was this one.
I don‘t know about let it be but here be dragons?! 🤷♀️ 😆 #letitbe #beatlemaynia
#SubjectOfTheMonth historical fiction! I am enjoying the book. Penman is such a talented author. My only problem is keeping up with all the names. @EadieB How is everyone doing with their historical fiction reads? 🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉
#subjectofthemonth Historical fiction January 2019
#buddyread starting Monday @EadieB
Just taking them off the shelves makes me want to read again!!
The first US edition of the first book in the Welsh trilogy. 1985, so the cover art is still a bit weird.
Note the actual flying dragon on the cover. 😆😆

Repost for @Tove_Reads :
Calling everyone who wants to participate in #subjectofthemonth! I will read the tagged one and Lamentation, to begin with. What about you? Share your plans and ideas! Let‘s do this🔛🤛🏻💪🏽

Day 21 #AdventRecommends
Any favourites list simply must include Sharon Kay Penman, a brilliant historical fiction author. After much deliberation of her books I‘m going with the brilliant Welsh Princes Trilogy. If you like historical fiction it is a must read.
1. No.
2. Netflix
3. Dramas like GOT and Walking Dead
4. No. I can't focus. Usually when hubby has on the TV, I'm listening to an audiobook and crafting or something.
5. Sharon Kay Penman all the way from The Sun in Splendor to A King's Ransom. Perfect for a new HBO series :)
#tellmetuesday @Ke633
So many great women out there that have written #HistoricalFiction but Sharon Kay Penman is up there with the very best! Her Welsh Princes Trilogy is superb and amongst my favourite historical fiction books and there are a lot on that list. Also a notable mention for her Sunne in Splendour book which tells the story of Richard III. A notable mention too for the authors Elizabeth Chadwick and Barbara Erskine! #ReadingWomenMonth
My current book!
You know your family has been #Litsyfied when your hubby sends u this pic 😀

Wonderful part of a wonderful trilogy 💕
Middles ages
Wales and England
Sharon Kay Penman‘s trilogy about the medieval princes of Gwynedd beginning with the tagged book or her series starring Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine.
@bookandcat
Picture taken in Finnish Lapland yesterday. It‘s springtime!
More book buying today ( on kindle ) Here Be Dragons , & .... The Sunne in Splendour. I would have got the books in the shop today , but the print inside was tiny. Really tiny, I would find it too hard to read.
Delighted to have these new ones ready & waiting on my kindle ✨✨✨✨
I‘m trying really hard to see this for what it is... hoping I have enough yarn to finish! I‘m thinking that even if it doesn‘t turn out the way that I planned, I will still love it!
Ended up napping, so now I can‘t sleep. Decided to try some stuff with the new yarn I bought. It‘s going to be a dragon scale scarf. The chunky is a bit odd, but I love it! 🐉

We all have our own opinion on #thebest. IMO Sharon Penman is the best historical author!

@Cinfhen
Since I just got to meet John Sandford, my next author I would absolutely love to meet is Sharon Kay Penman. I'd love to listen to her talk about her research on the Plantagenets. She is my favorite author of historical fiction. #kostovagiveaway

Killing time at Chapters before a concert.
Me: I wonder if they have Here Be Dragons...ooh, they have the whole trilogy!
Me to me: BUY THEM ALL

@RealLifeReading
I have reread 4 books! The Stand and these three!! Too many other books to get to mainly, but I would probably class these as my comfort read.
Having a Whelsh evening. Reading 'Here be dragons' while listening to Martyn Joseph 🎶📚👍
For #day12 of #photoadaynov16 - literally, Here Be Dragons. I love good historical fiction, and Sharon Kay Penman writes rich, chunky period novels that are accessible, but slightly weightier in tone than, say, Philippa Gregory. Photographing this one out has me considering a re-read in the future.
