This was a reread. I read this about three years ago and somehow just lost track of this series. I love Helen Grace, and I can‘t wait to read the next in the series. Definite warnings for “Very Icky Stuff”.

The first book in a series featuring the badass DI Helen Grace. She is hunting a killer with a very novel MO. I am really enjoying this one and looking forward to making my way through the series.
I love the titles of these books, they're parts of little children's rhymes. I found the case interesting but I didn't like the main detective Helen Grace. She did unwarranted things that made her unsympathetic. I think I've outgrown thrillers. I don't read a lot in this genre anymore.
This was my #doublespin for September @TheAromaofBooks
TBR since July 30th. 2020; 373 pages.
Yeah yesterdayI finished my #audiobook. I like it but it's one of the brutal thriller. #marvellousmarch
Today I start tge #marvelousmarch with my actual #audiobook. Good morning everyone! 🥐☕🍵
😱😱😱😱 This might mean that 2021 will definitely be better than this dumpster fire of a year!
I‘m excited!!! @MicheleinPhilly @TrishB
Helen Grace. I feel like this is all the explaining I need to do. It‘s solidly in my top 3 favorite series! #top20series #20series20days
📚LET'S PROMOTE READING AND OUR LOVE OF BOOKS!📚
I accepted this challenge to post the covers of books that I love for 10 days. No explanation. No criticism or reviews. Just the covers. Each day, I am going to ask a friend to take up the challenge (only if you want to). Day 7

I really thought I wasn‘t going to like this book at the beginning. It moved too fast and there were too many character point of views to follow. BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. I adored this book and actually really enjoyed jumping between narrators. Even though I get the comparison to Saw, it really is nothing like it. The plot is so much more interesting and captivating. I can‘t wait for the next one to come in at the library!
I wanted to finish yesterday, but my stinking life kept interfering. So Taco and I snuck out of bed super early to try to get some reading in before all the kids wake up and take up all my attention! #outnumbered
This book is moving so fast and is all over the place. I.LOVE.IT. I‘ll be finished today. Forget work. Forget responsibilities. I‘ll be reading.
This was absolutely brilliant! Love Helen Grace and the very gritty, original storyline. It's definitely not for the faint hearted, it is very graphic at times (the maggots 🤢)
Can't wait to read book number 2 😍

Book 11/20 for #bfcr4
Started another new series yesterday, the Helen Grace series. Currently about a quarter of the way through and really enjoying it.
Thanks for the recommendation @MicheleinPhilly @TrishB
I struggled with this book. I wanted to love it. 😩. I didn‘t care for the characters much and parts were very disturbing. The twist at the end was unexpected, but didn‘t wow me enough to rate it higher.
Currently reading. Ok so far but I hope it picks up a little. 📚
Thanks @Avanders ! We received the #LMPBC book today, and a bunch of goodies to go with it! @cobwebmoth and I are both ready to try the coffee. It smells amazing! Also a big thank you to @Chrissyreadit for the awesome book sleeve! I love our LMPBC group. You three ladies are fantastic! 😊
Well it's not for the faint of heart!! I read alot of thrillers including scandi noir which can be grim... But... this is quite brutal and parts made me feel physically sick. Having said that, that's not all there is to it, really enjoyed the story and did not see the twist coming at all. I like Helen Grace and bought because I'd read another of the series without realising it was part of a series. Looking forward to the next.
Just started this one for #booked2019 female detective.... 👍🏻♥️
Female detective Eeny Meeny ( 🙏🏻 @TrishB ) & perhaps new to me author... Steve Cavanagh , starting Thirteen now ... we shall see how it shapes up ... #booked2019
What a ride! This book is DARK and twisty but so so good. I'm about to impulse purchase the second in this series.
Hi #GroupL! I‘m excited to join you. Please let me know if any of these strike your fancy, you‘ve read before, or are hard passes for any other reason. I tried to grab a variety of genres. I‘ll tag the other three books in the comments.

M J Arlidge has written a fraught, fast paced thriller. There is murder mystery, police procedural, police corruption, and great characters. Mark the emotional wreck, but a great policeman, Charlie who‘s ambitious and strong and Helen the woman everyone wants to be, but has her own demons and scars.
I loved the way it moves between the crimes themselves and the police procedural. It runs so well and is chilling, believable and unputdownable.
”What the hell was going on? And then there was Caroline lying prone on the floor of the van. How did she get there? what wa—. Then everything went black. “.....this is a mix of thriller and police procedural.....pretty good so far..half way.
“She walked towards Anna. Anna struggled inside, her useless body was frozen and helpless. Then the woman put a bag over the girls head and everything went black “.....this is such a good thriller...
“I think she‘s telling the truth”......enjoying this so far....
Justice for Sara - (Erica Spindler)
Eeny Meeny - (MJ Arlidge)
Alert - (James Patterson)
No Time for Goodbye - (Linwood Barclay)

Has anyone read this book/series? I'm just wondering if they need to be read in order? My mom found book#6 at Goodwill and wants to know if she should read the others first. Thanks!!
Have heard a lot of good things about Matthew Arlidge's Eeny Meeny. Fantastic book! The first in a series following DI Helen Grace and I can‘t wait to read the others now! It‘s a dark story and the initial premise of the plot reminded me a little of the first Saw film. I liked Helen as a main character and look forward to seeing her story develop in the other books.
This was ok. The premise was interesting but the characters were really flat and I didn‘t care about any of them. Also, I felt the author tried too hard to be shocking with the gore. I may read the next in the series at some point.
1. Agatha Christie, thrillers and some spooky stuff are my beach reads. I am looking forward to putting some real time in, Into the Drowning Deep.
2. Otters are cute and pretty resourceful.
3. I haven‘t really had a chance to travel. I always enjoy when I get a chance to go to Popham Beach.

This is all that a crime thriller should be and more! Fast paced, twisted plot, seriously screwed-up characters, and LOTS of WTF moments. A strong female character in Detective Inspector Helen Grace makes this my new favorite crime series. Thank you to @MicheleinPhilly for turning me on to this new-to-me author. #blameitonlitsy
This book... oh this book has plenty of twists and turns! I still think about it! Congratulations to @cobwebmoth on your 1,000 followers!!!! That‘s so exciting!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 #surprisedgiveaway
There‘s nothing worse than male writers who can‘t write female characters. Bailed at 55%.
Thanks to British written books, I hate the term “packet” because it‘s used for EVERYTHING. I also hate “tin” and honestly, I hate the way “chocolate” sounds with the accents.
So good! This is going to be yet another series I‘m going to be into. The chapters were nice and short. It was a quick-fast paced read! 🌟🌟🌟🌟4/5🌟
I was in my front living room with my endless piles of books that still need to be read and picked this one up. Holy crap! The first paragraph has me hooked! 😯 I have a feeling this book is going to be hard to put down. #litsypartyofone
Would rather read about fictional serial killers than real life atrocities. #StartASeries #MediaBlackout
