pickRead during first days of this month. For me, this is my favorite book in this trilogy but I think is because I liked the dynamic between Persephone, Calla and Maura. There is something sad that happened in this book😢I saw in this book more action. As a YA fantasy it was good 3.8⭐️

Wrap up for #AwesomeApril - I didn't achieve my goal of 2500 pages, but I ended up at 2214 which is pretty solid. I finished five books, almost finished the tagged book, stayed caught up on my two chapter-a-day reads, and am back on top of my page goal for April. #WeeklyForecast - Finished The Dream Thieves last night & started the tagged. I'm really enjoying this series & am excited to move right into the spin-off, Call Down the Hawk. The post-it titles are on Kindle & are a Mansfield Park variation. I'm at least giving the first book a try to see if they are any good. HP should wrap up this week & I'm also halfway through Dawn Treader - so fun to reread both these series!! From there it's a random TBR⬇️
pickThis book was slow, but had its moments. I loved the character development and the plot is still one of the most unpredictable and unique I‘ve ever read. It‘s taken me a really long time to read each of these books. Something about the writing style makes them really hard for me to sink my teeth into.

1. If I think I will reread it, I keep it. I also keep almost all nonfiction for reference purposes. Books I don't see myself reading again I send on their way.
2. I've been meaning to read The Raven Boys series forever. I've gotten the first two books & still need the tagged & book 4. Not sure why this is a series I'm buying before reading... not my usual style!!

pick*Face Palm* I was supposed to post this first before my previous post! I finished this first! My #doublespin was amazing! This story totally has me enraptured. I think about it long after I‘m done reading it. I need to start the next one asap, but I‘m sad it‘s almost over. #bookspinbingo
And onto the next one again. Funny how it can take me a week to finish a book I have to read but the favorites go by so quickly.

pickThis book was incredible. I just finished, and I‘m too shaken to even write a coherent review. Definitely a worthy successor to The Raven Boys and Dream Thieves.
Then I made Nigella‘s cranberry cake, and for once it almost looks the way it‘s supposed to! I used Ocean Spray cranberries this time and they were a lot smaller than whatever kind my grocery store usually sells. I guess they were also denser and less inclined to float up into the batter.
Between this bit of #audiobaking and some work on my latest dog sweater, I finished BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE. Now begins the wait for THE RAVEN KING.
Today‘s #audiocooking efforts involved the carrot salad from ANTONI IN THE KITCHEN. It‘s good, but probably not good enough to justify the sheer amount of time I spent ribbonizing the itty bitty rainbow carrots that were all I could source.
On the book front, I‘m still loving this immediate Raven Cycle reread, and I‘m still sure I won‘t repeat the experiment. I‘m not built for this type of reading.

I really like all the covers from Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle series. I picked Blue Lily, Lily Blue because it stands out to me the most.

pickMy favourite thing about this series is that each of the characters is immediately recognizable as an archetype at best and a stereotype at worst, but Stiefvater refuses to let those impressions stand. She deconstructs our expectations and delivers a cast of deep, varied, REAL people. This volume really hammers that home as the central characters internalize more truths about each other.
That sounds bland. I promise it‘s exciting as all get-out.
I shared a beer with the Grey Cup people, who‘re excited Winnipeg‘s a bit ahead. Now I‘m ready to eat Whoppers, cuddle Casey, and finish BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE. 25% to go!

I found enough energy to bike 15 miles while I read. Since my odometer‘s pretty boring, here‘s a photo of a BUTTERNUT MURDER SQUASH my mum made me the other night.
I dunno why, but in my head the Murder Squash Song is about people in plague doctor masks, possibly with fake wings attached to their backs.

pickI‘m gonna die from this slow burn, hidden, and forbidden love goin on! Maggie writes the most beautiful kissing scene WITH NO KISSING. Like seriously it‘s so beautiful and carefully written. The story just gets better as it progresses, more magic, more puzzles more everything. I am just so immersed in this world!
pickI never sleep well when my husband is out of town, and the weather has been so nice the kids have been playing outside for hours, so I‘ve had a LOT of reading time.
Friday I read TRB. Saturday I read TDT. Today I read BL,LB. (I‘m not going to tell you how many treats I consumed each day though. 😲😂)

I don‘t know if it‘s because I‘m getting used to the author‘s writing style or because I‘m finally interested & invested in the characters‘ lives & choices. Either way, I‘m excited for book 4 to see how it all concludes!
