‘Once you get in, there‘s no getting out.
Because it turns out Brookline was no ordinary psych ward. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried.‘
This is a good, quick read. Teens in a college prep program get caught up in a mystery involving the asylum‘s dark past.

I wasn't expecting a lot but this turned out to be a nice little read. It's got a former psychiatric hospital converted into student accommodation as a base, alongside spooky goings-on (night trips into the old part of the building which still retain the cells & operating theatre of the old place, disappearing emails, automatic writing, the MC having visions of the Warden of the asylum, etc). (Continued)
Reading other reviews, I didn't have very high expectations. Given my low expectations, I think that allowed me to enjoy this book more than other people.
I thought it was enjoyable, a quick read, and entertaining enough for me. Like others have said, I didn't think it was scary enough to be considered a horror book, but I think it could be scary for a much younger audience. With that said, I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.
This was an extremely ambitious book, and if it had cut down on the subplots it would have been able to spend more time on the main story. Dan finding true friends was a great theme to add to Asylum, but the character relationships were rushed. The characterization was also inconsistent throughout the story. Not a series I will continue.

#CurrentlyReading Getting caught up on my round of #lmpbc. I'm loving all the creepy photos scattered throughout this book. @BeeMagical @ShelleyBooksie @BookishTrish
It‘s snowy and grey, but I have nowhere else to be. A perfect Side H on repeat and #lmpbc afternoon.
@BeeMagical Your #LMPBC pick has safely made its way to snowy BC @ShelleyBooksie @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego
@BeeMagical - what a great #lmpbc pick! My first time reading this author and I will check out more of her work.
Book 121📚
This is my #LMPBC book and boy was it a goodie!! Spooky, creepy, all around twisted ride!
I can‘t wait to listen to Sanctum and see how the story continues!🗝
Dan is a summer student for pre-college. His dorm has a sorted past…as an asylum. Maybe sometimes it‘s best to leave the past undisturbed…
Even if it calls to you🤫
Okay! Based on word count, these are my current options! #LMPBC
Although I may find something in my various swaps that could be interesting! 👻 @BookishTrish @ShelleyBooksie

5✨ Absolutely chilling. I loved every minute! Dan is going to “college” in a refurbished old psychiatric hospital. He has these dreams that don‘t seem to be isolated to just him and when one of the other students ends up dead things seem to get ghostly.

What are you reading? 😊
I am reading this book for a book club that I am in. I started it back in March but I honestly didn‘t remember anything. Now I‘m at the same point I stopped at in march.
Has any one read it? Thoughts?
This is what I needed! I wouldn't classify it as horror, more of supernatural YA suspense but I really enjoyed it. Tried the audiobook but the PB is filled with creepy asylum picks that just add that extra unsettling factor. Looking forward to the next one
Don't remember if this is my #bookspin or #doublespin but I know it's one of them! 😂

Daniel Crawford is taking part in a summer, college-prep program. He is housed in an old insane asylum on campus. Soon, strange things start to happen around campus and to Daniel. Is it all in his head, or is this place haunted by the people of the past? Does Daniel have a connection to this asylum? We watch as he digs deeper to find out the truth of this place, even if it means risking his life. This #ya novel had me creeped out!
Today‘s reading companion decided to sit across the room from me so he could look for squirrels 🐿 out the window. 😂😂😂 Silly Moose!💙📖🐿🐾❤️
Tonight‘s reading companion in my new chair and ottoman.
A pretty bland read that felt like it wanted to hop on the Random Riggs bandwagon, the photographs were poorly photoshopped, the characters flat and uninteresting and the horror wasn't remotely unique or scary.
All the company has gone until tomorrow, 2 out of 3 kids are out cold and this place is about as clean as I'm willing to make it tonight. Couch, book and Witcher until bed.
Happy Christmas Eve Littens. May Santa fill your stockings with the best books ❤🎄
FINALLY getting to my October book club book......school has really SLOWED my personal reading....🖤💀🤩
”Dan walked up the front steps and found himself in a large entrance hall. The enormous chandelier couldn‘t overcome the #darkness caused by all the wood paneling and overstuffed furniture. Through a grand archway across from the entrance, Dan spotted a wide staircase, and halls leading in on either side. Even the students bustling in and out did nothing to dispel the feeling of heaviness.” #QuotsyOct19 #AllHallowsRead #GiveAScaryBook
I‘ve been MIA from here for a little while and that‘s because graduate school is consuming my life 😫 but I‘m currently listening to the audiobook of Asylum during work and it‘s keeping me on the edge of my seat 👩🏻🔬🧟♀️
This wasn't quite as good as I was hoping, but it was still a fun read.
This book was amazing!! I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
I don‘t know if it was just because I listened to the audiobook, which wasn‘t well done at all, but the book was really hard to follow and kind of boring.

So far a bit slow, 34% in already it's a bit weird but still sorta slow and romance is definitely not needed in this book!
I do recommend this book to those who enjoy YA and a good horror book.

This is what I read to my English classes for #firstchaptermonday today. I haven't read it yet (other than the first chapter, lol!), but it's next on my TBR list! #teachersoflitsy #englishteacher
