I liked how there were young characters who were insecure and how they grew during the events. I think most of us can relate to that.

I always love stories where someone from fantasy world comes to our world or vice versa.

Plot was quite straight forward but there was a twist I didn't see coming. And I love road-trips.

I liked this and I really loved the ending that was a bit touching and somehow beautiful.

So far, I‘ve done no reading today but have watched a lot of movies. My daughter made Christmas dinner and it was amazing. While she was cooking, we watched Wonder Woman: 1984, A Christmas Carol (Alistair Sim), the modern Miracle on 34th Street, Mr, Magoo‘s Christmas Carol, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It was a very relaxing day.

AkashaVampie How was Wonder Woman??? 4y
KathyWheeler @AkashaVampie I liked it but the fight scenes did get a little long for me. 4y

I honestly thought that today would be hard, and it hasn‘t been easy. I got to FaceTime with my family and see my nephew open his presents. I got to experience the joy of he and my sister being told they get to get a cat. My parents and I had Christmas dinner with each other over FaceTime.

Also I recommend the new Wonder Woman movie. It is not my favorite of the superhero movies, but I loved it.

This was better than I expected. I'm not big into superheroes, but I loved Wonder Woman when I was itty bitty. Anyone remember underoos? I wore my W.W. ones til they fell apart. There was a lot more humor than I thought there would be, and I loved the secondary characters - especially Nim and Theo. I'm thinking I may just pick up the Batman one.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Enchanted_Bibliophile Catwoman is also very good. 4y

Other than my intense childhood crush on Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne, I've always been more a Marvel than DC fan, but Leigh Bardugo has me wanting to watch the new Wonder Woman movies! Warbringer focuses on teen Diana, who feels the need to prove herself to the other Amazon warriors, and ends up entangled with a direct descendant of Helen of Troy, a young woman destined to be the catalyst of a new war if Diana doesn't help her.

Scochrane26 I ❤️❤️❤️ the Wonder Woman movie, but I didn‘t bother to watch the Justice League movies. Can‘t wait until WW sequel comes out. 4y

WOW!

This had all the magical Marvel awesomeness! Combined with Bardugo's brilliant sense of storytelling and beautiful writing, who can not love this?

Adventure, heroes, friendships, quest, gods and villains. This is everything I've learned Bardugo is good at, but she truly mesmerized me with this tale.

Scochrane26 I loved this one & Catwoman. I haven‘t read the Superman or Batman ones. 4y
Enchanted_Bibliophile @Scochrane26 I've added all 4 of them on my #BookSpinBingo chart, so I intend to read them all. But looking at the authors I'd wager to say that those two will be my favourites. Everyone I spoke to love Cat women so I can't wait ...😁 4y

I wanted to like this more than I did. I‘m appreciative of the diversity in the story as far as race, sexuality, and size. It‘s very nice to see a plus sized girl in a cute outfit! Seeing protective styles on Black girls. It was those types of elements in the art that resonated with me. I wasn‘t very invested in the storyline though. #GraphicNovels #WonderWoman

I really loved Leigh Bardugo's Wonder Woman: Warbringer novel when I read it a few years ago; this is a faithful and enjoyable adaptation.

The secondary characters, especially Theo and Nim, are really what make this story shine, and the illustrations are incredibly well done. The beginning was slightly wordy, but this improved as the story went on. #netgalley #arc

So I decided to do a small culinary-literary world tour during my holidays. Today's first destination was Greece, where Leigh Bardugos "Wonder Woman" is set.

Menu: Greek Bujurdi with potatoes and peas

(I just recently got into cooking so no food blogger fancy stuff to see here... Sorry! ??)

LiljaPleasant Looks delicious! What's Bujurdi? Tomatoes... and? 5y
Jari-chan @LiljaPleasant I was very tasty and gone way to fast 😄 Bujurdi is a Greek starter with tomatoes and feta cheese. It might has Turkish origins, but noone knows for sure. Usually eaten with bread, it can be used as sauce for pasta as well. 5y

When I was about halfway through with that book I went online to check its genre. Then I checked again. Then I closed the book and took a deep breath. This really is labeled as YA.

YA being the genre I dislike the most, sometimes even feeling physical pain while reading it. This one I loved.

Therefore I consider this as a miracle.

I do not normally read tie-in novels -- I prefer my comics to be comics, my movies to be movies, and my novels to be novels. But I'm giving this a go, because I got it in a subscription box and it always pays to give new things a try, and I do like Bardugo's other books. We'll see!

Great story for Wonder Woman fans. The fact that there was diversity and plenty of 'girl power' it was also great at showing how not only those with super strength could be heroes and also how to harness anger for good. Loved the way the lore was built and how this was a unique take on the myth of Themyscria and the Amazons themselves.

Diana travels with an awkward teen, her dashing overly masculine brother, a quirky best friend, and a quirky other friend. A bit overcrowded and definitely to many cute, quirky moments.
Also, weird choices for the timeline: set in current time, but time moves faster on Themyscira, and Diana is still young, so by the epilogue, it's 20 years in the future and she's still nowhere near being Wonder Woman. I hope they aren't planning a sequel...

An all round solid and often delightful #YA origins novel about #WonderWoman aka Diana Prince. I loved how focused on female friendship it was and how the two other main girl characters were of colour (and one queer to boot!). (Actually the boys are POC too). It felt very feminist and centred on girls sticking up for each other which I loved. Great character development, humour, and a focus on empathy and compassion as forms of heroism.

What I really wanted from the recent Wonder Woman movie was more time spent with the women on Themyscyra and no men, which are two things this #YA book is giving me so far so thumbs up. (I mean, I'd also like explicitly queer and women of colour characters, let's see if that happens).

WhatDeeReads You get it Casey. I haven‘t seen ww because I just can‘t watch another movie about a woman risking everything for s man. Not one more 6y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @WhatDeeReads Totally hear you!! Tbh I did adore the movie and I don't think WW's motivation is saving Steve Trevor as a man. I really liked what they did with his character. The lack of WOC and/or queer women in the movie is a bigger problem imo. 6y
WhatDeeReads @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian True. I read a book about ww creator and it‘s was super not intersectional so I think I had already given up hope on that front. 6y
