I liked this when I read the original 10 years ago- as a debut and a very young author. Said author has now re-drafted for this 10th anniversary version and it‘s brilliant. Love this series.
The MC Paige is one of my favourite fantasy characters.

Thank you for the awesome #readingbracket2024 @CSeydel ! My favorite read this month was the Bone Season. My favorite from last year- Jan 2023 was Priory so it seems I love to read Samantha Shannon every January 😂 #2024readingbracket
#serieslove2024 I‘m convinced no one builds worlds like Samantha Shannon. I found myself completely immersed just like Priory. I loved this story of revolutions, hidden worlds and magic but told in such a unique way. Now I have the same problem as @kelmardino - do we wait for the new versions of the next books that come out this year? Or do we dive right into the old book 2? 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My first book of 2024, it was amazing! Loved it! Now I‘m trying to decide if I can wait for the revised editions of the rest of the series to come out 😅
My daughter brought me The Broken Binding version of The Bone Season for my birthday and it‘s just arrived and is gorgeous ❤️
Bk6 of my recent #BookMail is the Special Signed Edition of The 1st book in The Bone Season series. It‘s 2059 & 19yr old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials. Her job: scout for information by breaking into people‘s minds. Paige is a Dreamwalker & Clairvoyant & in the world of Scion, she breaks the law by simply breathing. Attacked, drugged & kidnapped, she‘s taken to Oxford, a city kept secret.
I really enjoyed Shannon's "The Priory of the Orange Tree", so I was really excited to pick up this book. I started reading it at the airport (which is not a great place to concentrate), but by the time my plane landed I was hooked! I'm very curious to see where it goes after this...
I picked this one up reluctantly to be honest…not sure if I was going to enjoy it all that much. I was rather surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. And it was a very solid start to this series. I will definitely pick up the next as I ended up a huge fan of Paige. She‘s one strong FMC. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
#SeriesRead2022 @TheSpineView
Excellent start to this series! Shannon does a wonderful job of building both the world and the characters that I can't wait to see where the story is headed next.
I'm excited to discuss this with my fellow Littens soon @PageShifter @coffeewithbooks @FantasyChick @Laughterhp @BookHoarder32
#TBRPile 📚 “I like to imagine there were more of us in the beginning. Not many, I suppose. But more than there are now.”
I'm not mad at this. Technically, this is a reread for me but I couldn't remember a thing about it so it was all practically brand new. There was a lot that wasn't really necessary but for the most part I think this was an excellent first book to set the tone for the series.
How's everyone else doing? Are we looking at discussion dates or a plan for the next book?
@coffeewithbooks @BookHoarder32 @Laughterhp @Addison_Reads @PageShifter
Well, all my plans for working, cleaning, etc. are officially shot for the night due to the massive wind storm we are getting. Good thing my eReader has a full charge 👍
Looking like a quiet night in the dark with nothing else to do but read until bed. Poor me 🤣
Fun fact: if you try to enjoy some of the quiet time your toddler is having, even if you're in the SAME ROOM as him, don't enjoy it too much. The quiet is never good. NEVER!
The beautiful artwork took less than 5 minutes. I'm still trying to figure out where he had the marker stashed. 🤔
Plus side, the book is getting interesting now. I might just keep going for a bit. I'm not attempting to clean this until bathtime 🤣
Taking advantage and getting a few pages in while the boy has snack and watches Turning Red for the 3rd (and probably not the last) time today. He usually only stays occupied for about a half hour at a time but I should be able to make a decent dent anyway.
#ReadWhenYouCan #BoneSeasonBuddyRead
I liked the main characters but there were so many secondary characters that were hard to remember. I loved slow-burn romance!
Brutal society - just what I love in dystopia books. But I would have loved to have more of it!
This was a bit slow - well still interesting enough to keep me going.

What are you reading? 😊
Anyone else ready to skip the next couple seasons and head straight to summer?
The only good thing about snow days is getting a little break to get some reading done.
Shh. Can you hear that? It's the sound of pure silence. Hubs took the toddler out on an adventure this morning for a few hours so I'm going to live it up! I'm SITTING and drinking my HOT coffee and starting the first chapters for the #BoneSeasonBuddyRead with something not animated on the TV in the background. Later, I'm getting a shower. With HOT water. Alone. Admit it, you're jealous 🤣🤣🤣
#ToddlerLife #QuietTime #ItsTheLittleThings #Alone
I think this schedule should work for everyone's reading speeds? The first week is the biggest chunk (about 96 pages I think) but it's also the longest period of time.
How does this look to everyone?

Very late to read this one, but I really enjoyed it. Amazing story building and I also enjoyed the emotion in the characters. I liked how the romance wasn't the main focus of the book. Looking forward to the next books in the series.
Between #tbrdeckofcards #bookspinbingo and #roll100 I‘ve got quite the stack for the month. The Bone Season and The Goblin Emperor are my #roll100 picks. Among Thieves and Half Lives are my #bookspin and #doublespin for the month and finally for #tbrdeckofcards I have Hyde for ‘Retelling‘ and Proof of Murder for ‘Mystery/Thriller‘. @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks @PuddleJumper
Hearing no cries of "oh but it's my favorite, you should keep going!" I'm calling it on this #doublespin book for now. Maybe Priory had as much angst, but it also had a lot more action.
Apropos of nothing, here's a picture of a toad.
Oh man, i was really excited about this book that I bought from a library sale after reading Shannon's fantastic Priory of the Orange Tree, but it is not similar and I'm really struggling with the narrator... And everything? Is it a mood thing? Has anyone read the series that can tell me how they like the overall arc? Still mulling if I'll finish this #bookspin book...
#BookReport - Finished 8 books this week. 2 print and the rest on audio. My favorite was the tagged book and A Conspiracy in Belgravia
Currently reading A Brush with Shadows, the 6th Lady Darby book and listening to The Hunting Party.
#WeeklyForecast - I have 7 books out from the library so not exactly sure what I‘m going to read this week.
Wow! I loved this book! I wasn‘t really sure what to expect but once I started, I couldn‘t put it down. I need the next book now! I loved the world building, the fantasy elements and the action. I can‘t wait to see what the next book brings!
I should have known I would love this because I loved Priory of the Orange Tree. And I can‘t believe this was her debut!
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This one was a reread because I've been waiting for book #4 (The Mask Falling) to be released and couldn't remember much. 😅 a bit of info-dump but one of my favorites.
Thanks for the tag @MaleficentBookDragon It took me awhile to figure out which 3 words I wanted to use... but I think I‘ve got it:
Richly imagined, rebellious ✨
And a bonus word because I think Paige would approve of me breaking the rules: Favorite ❤️
@monalyisha @Kdgordon88 @TheKidUpstairs Would you like to play?
All I really want to do is stay in bed and finish the last hundred pages of this book. This is one of my favorites and I‘m so happy to be back in this world! ❤️ Unfortunately I have a lot of work I need to get done today... 😬
#Bookdelivery 📚
I'm so happy, look at how pretty they are! 😍
If anyone has read my review on The Priory of The Orange Tree, you'll know how much I loved it and I can't wait to jump into the next series by Samantha Shannon and the others...well sometimes, you just fancy a bit of #youngadult 😉 god bless Facebook bookclubs
Got my nose in #newbooks whilst I wait for the rest of my order to arrive 😁📚📚
This series is my favorite fantasy series. The main character is real, the concept is excellent and the story is well written. Book 4 just came out, so I am rereading the 1st three.

Interesting story, but not particularly invested in the characters. Will try picking this book up at another time
I will be posting in no particular order because I really haven't taken the time to figure my top books out yet 😂😂

@Andrew65
You know those books, that you didn‘t know you needed when you started, but which end up being just the right book for you? This was that book for me. After reading Priory of the Orange Tree, I knew I had to read more by Shannon, and after finishing this, I can feel a new auto-buy-author is making her way into my heart 👌❤️
#DoubleSpin
I liked the series so much that I had to get its first book in physical form too.
Thanks for the tag @runswithscissors007 😘
1. I currently have Fluke, Into the Drowning Deep and Imaginary Friend on the go
2. Tagged. Couldn't put it down
3. Baths. I miss a long bath with a book and a bomb 🛀
#weekendreads @rachelsbrittain
Ok, so where the hell has this series been hiding and what other books have I been missing out on?
Nothing could make me stop reading this. I flew through it in a day.
Dystopian crack. That's what it is. I already need another fix so I know what I'm diving into next.
Managed to pull out one more book last night to complete another #bookspinbingo line!
It was a great month and I'm really looking forward to September's book!
This is working so well for getting my TBR at an (almost) manageable level so keep 'em coming @TheAromaofBooks 👍👍

I'm supposed to be productive today but this book just keeps pulling me in.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5/5)
“The Bone Season” starts off as a confusing read, as a lot of world-building and paranormal terms are thrown at you. However, the guides in the book were quite helpful. I can‘t even begin to figure out how to describe what happens in this book, but I can tell you that it is fast-paced and an interesting dystopian read. Overall, my favorite part was the relationship between Paige and Warden and I got some mild Six of Crows vibes.
Hey, look! #asexual characters! Thought I‘d signal boost for anyone looking for representation in their fiction.
Lots of other #LGBTQ+ rep in this one, too, it seems. Belatedly stacking!
#pridemonth
In the mood for epic fantasy, set in not-too-distant London? This world considers anyone with clairvoyant powers to be “unnatural.” Of course, our heroine is a “voyant” whose rebellious nature gets her in trouble. She looks for mentors, and unexpectedly finds one in an enemy. The world building, character development, and action are strong, if a bit YA.

I‘ve been on a nonfiction tear lately. So now it‘s time for some epic fantasy and historical fiction. Need to balance the heavy stuff! On the left is my #milennialauthor pick for #booked2020. The right side is my oldest #ARC! #beatthebacklist
