Blindsighted
Blindsighted: The First Grant County Thriller | Karin Slaughter
Gillian Flynn says, "Karin Slaughter is simply one of the best thriller writers working today." A small Georgia town erupts in panic when a young college professor is found brutally mutilated in the local diner. But it's only when town pediatrician and coroner Sara Linton does the autopsy that the full extent of the killer's twisted work becomes clear. Sara's ex-husband, police chief Jeffrey Tolliver, leads the investigationa trail of terror that grows increasingly macabre when another local woman is found crucified a few days later. But he's got more than a sadistic serial killer on his hands, for the county's sole female detective, Lena Adamsthe first victim's sisterwant to serve her own justice. But it is Sara who holds the key to finding the killer. A secret from her past could unmask the brilliantly malevolent psychopath .. or mean her death.

Yikes.
Look out mateys, thar be some dark, dark stuff ahead. I‘m not one to turn back from triggering material, but there were definitely moments in “Blindsighted” that I was gritting my teeth or setting the book aside to breathe and move forward.
Dark, dark mystery thriller featuring a pediatrician who moonlights as a mortician in her small southern town, with her ex-husband as the chief of a police. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 4 outta 5.

5 big ‘ol ⭐️- I‘m attempting to read authors that slipped by me over the years. Karin Slaughter is one of those authors and now I‘m left feeling rather sheepish that I hadn‘t picked up her Grant County series. It was sooo good! I already have the second book, Kisscut, in my hands. Yup, it‘s that good.

If this ever got made into a movie, Breeda Wool is who I would pick to play Sara. The pacing was very good, I feel like Karin Slaughter gave a couple of the twists up too early. Didn‘t quite have time to ruminate. The character dynamics/relationships were awesome. There were a couple times Sara‘s actions made me frustrated.

Sounds like a basic quote, but it foreshadows of events to come. This is well researched, thought out and written. I did find the killer to be predictable and the back story was a bit of a stretch for me, but I still found myself not being able to put the book down. Blindsighted is gruesome so I will be taking a hiatus from Karin Slaughter for a bit - let's see how long it lasts. #teamnosleep for #blindsighted

So grateful for this recommendation - thank you! Started it yesterday, and I'm hooked. Like true Karin Slaughter fashion, she sucks you in immediately. The crime is definitely heinous and it was uncomfortable reading the details - I took a break in between. So far it's obvious she has done her research before writing - the plot and the investigation are interesting and believable. Looking forward to losing sleep for this one!

I really like Karin Slaughter‘s writing. She does such a good job of building suspense and throwing in curves that work. She doesn‘t shy away from the gruesome, but she doesn‘t overdo it either which I think is a hard balance to find in this genre. This was a scary book about a serial rapist and the hunt to find out who he is and how to stop him. Full of dark turns and lots of edge of your seat moments.

My first Slaughter. I couldn‘t resist her any longer after all the praise by @swishandflick and @MicheleinPhilly ! And I really felt like a pageturner after all those Man Booker books. So this was the right book at the right moment. And thrilling is it. What a horrible descriptions of rape and murder, what a fantasy she must have to come up with this! First time reading a Karin Slaughter, and I enjoyed it immensely. Granted, I guessed the ending about halfway through but actually this didn't dampen the big reveal because it just made me want to get to the end quicker to find out!

Bit grim, and not the most thrilling story, but suitably entertaining and would definitely read more of hers. Alas, no Heathcliff though. Or Kate Bush. 6/10.

The first in her Grant County series starring part-time coroner Sarah Linton and her ex-husband police chief. A decent enough debut though I guessed the killer early on, which I almost never do. Some rape and torture scenes may be too gruesome for some stomachs. Clearly an early effort and I'd imagine the series gets better as it goes on.

Well, it wasn't my favorite thriller ever. It was a page turner. I did finish it. But I found the characters rather wooden. The dialog stiff; almost canned. Everyone here seems to love Karen Slaughter books so much that I'm hoping these are just first book flaws. So, to sum up: terrific plotting, writing needs improvement.

BlameJennyJane I love some of the recent Slaughter books and this one keeps popping up as a suggestion for me, but I‘ve been hesitant. Given your review, I‘m not moving it to the the top of the TBR! 2y

I came across Karin Slaughter last year and was hesitant to read suspense thrillers as they are not my usual genre. I am so glad I did. Her writing is amazing and her characters and storylines suck you in immediately. The stories are not for the faint of heart as the subject matter can be gruesome. I always walk away from her books with a book hangover and have to process for a little bit before picking up the next.

Just finished Blindsighted. And as they say : “ it does what it says on the tin “. An easy read , full of grit , gore , suspense. I‘m giving this a So-So rating because even though I did enjoy it , I wouldn‘t rave about it, it started off well , but didn‘t hold my attention throughout. I will try The Good Daughter though, as I know this one has got great reviews on Litsy.

Andrew65 I wouldn't give up on the Grant County series as I do think they get better than the first one, providing you like gritty! 2y
