Mehso-so

Also on the bottom of my tbr, I should have listened to this when it was published instead of now. The so-so rating isn‘t because the essays aren‘t well-written, but because they‘re outdated at this point. There‘s valuable info & issues we still need to be fighting for, but the focus is on the aftermath of the 2016 election, rehashing a lot we have already been through. I was tired of it by the end. #mistletoemaniacs @Clwojick #wintergames 16pts

I think this is an important book to read whether you support Trump or can‘t stand him. It is full of well written and eloquent stories from women who felt personally devastated upon hearing the news that such a rude, sexist, and racist human would be running the United States of America for the next four years. I‘m sure I‘ll get some negative feedback for this one, but it‘s worth a read, no matter your views.

Thank you @Caterina for such an amazing first #newyearwhodis pick!! I adored every one of these essays, I‘ve dog eared and written on half of them and am insisting friends and family read them too. This book didn‘t gloss over how frightening Trump is, but made you feel like there was still a lot to fight for.

Very excited to get started on @monalyisha ‘s #newyearwhodis readathon! @Caterina I was so excited by the books you picked!

Of the list I was sent I‘ve already read 3 so I‘m gonna read these other 7! I see politics, fantasy, a gorge literary thriller and some translated fiction and I couldn‘t be more excited. The only question is whether I can wait till January to get started.

I have been loving this book for the most part. Love how diverse the representation is so far!! Lots of powerful #ownvoices, it has me hoping for a woman with chronic illness, although that probably won't happen. Still a fantastic anthology though!

But in Solnit's essay just now she added "ADHD" to a string of insults about Trump, and I'm like, really? ? How about we don't use ADHD as an insult?

I don't think this collection is #underrated by those who have read it but I definitely think this hasn't gotten the attention it needs! Reactions to Trump and reflections on how to be a woman in 21st century America by VERY diverse group of VERY talented authors. Edited by Kate Harding and Samhita Mukhopadhyay - probably my best book purchase this year. ✊

I really enjoyed reading this collection of essays and highly recommend you check out this book if you're looking for a diverse and intersectional look at feminism in the US or just want to be educated about intersectional feminism in general. The diversity of the writers and the topics in this collection is what makes this book stand out for me. Seeing all these different perspectives and learning more about them was really enlightening.

ALL THE STARS! Wow, what a collection! The contributors are very diverse, the topics addressed are very diverse, but the call for an intersectional feminist movement to move forward from this point is unanimous. These are important issues we should ALL be thinking about more. So glad I purchased this - it's a must-read. Some of my favorited were "Nasty Native Women", "Permission to vote for a monster", "We've always been nasty" and "All-American".

A great collection of essays with plenty of diverse voices. A couple of them made me wonder if I ever am doing enough for my fellow sisters out there, since I technically sit in a position of privilege (white cis woman). In the end I know what I can do is keep listening to those who are different than me and lift up their voices when I can. Recommending this book to others is a start. Excellent collection of essays: many that I can easily relate to (aftermath of the election, feelings of hopelessness), and many that supply ideas for what we must continue to do to resist. Pieces written by a diverse group of women on a range of topics. I especially loved the ones by Alicia Garza (excerpt above), Nicole Chung, and Cheryl Strayed, but every essay is good.

That 53% of white women stat continues to distress me. 😖
