Possibly the most fun yet!! I love Robin‘s development in this book.
Possibly the most fun yet!! I love Robin‘s development in this book.
The third in the series. Far darker and more violent than the rest but I still couldn‘t put it down. I love being in this world.
Best in the series so far! These just keep getting better and I really didn't see the twist coming at the end 🙊 Highly recommend... I'm off now to watch the 3rd series .... I won't let myself watch until I've read each book lol.
I found the first half a bit harder to follow, as there were a LOT of characters, so I found it a bit tricky to keep them and their stories and relationships to Strike straight. One of the relationships that did stick in my head was Strike‘s stepfather. We learn about Strike‘s childhood – his mother was murdered, and Strike believes it was his stepfather who did it. I thought it really picked up in the second half.
Trying to catch up the Cormoran Strike book series so I can finish watching the show.

Happy #jolabokaflodswap and thanks to @Karisa for this amazing swap!! I‘m so excited to eat that chocolate and read that book! Thank you to @MaleficentBookDragon for organizing!

This book was so grimy and saturated with such evil vial violent characters I now need to read something lighthearted to cleanse my brain of the grime. That being said, This is the best Strike novel I‘ve read yet. They keep getting better imo and I‘m excited to read more. I‘m seriously in love with Cormoran.
@BennettBookworm What a great giveaway ☕️!
I collect mugs (seriously my kitchen is 85% mugs) I have so many favorites but my most favorite has to be our yellow Cabela‘s mug. Ive use it for soup on sick days, it fits a cup of chili and works perfect for a midnight cereal craving. It‘s my favorite mug for green tea and my husbands favorite mug for coffee on the weekends💛 current read is tagged and it‘s really good so far!
#steamygiveaway ☕️📚
I read #TheSilkworm in 2018 and I almost forgot what a great writer Rowling is. It was so good to return to these lovely characters and although I did suspect the killer for a while, it was a good mystery.

Getting cozy with Cormoran. I think it‘s safe to say that I am OBSESSED with this series. I‘m currently half way through the third book, Career of Evil, and loving every minute.
Re-reading this series before the release of the next book / next season of the TV show. This one is probably my favorite so far despite the difficult subject matter, as to me it did not feel exploitative (ymmv).
Twisting the three different lines of inquiry into suspects from Strike's past, as well as Robin's drive to become (and be seen as) an investigator in her own right makes for page-turning reading. Did not figure this one out.
Spent a weekend tearing through this. Easy, entertaining read and spending so much time with the characters made me really want to dive into the next book... whenever I can get my hands on it 🤷🏻♀️
Another #audiowalk, another zillion bunnies. They‘re so cute when they aren‘t eating my garden 🥰😍
On an #audiowalk. Comment what you‘d name this one when you see it 😊 Character Names from current reads very welcome. Tag the book!
I thought book #1 in this series was great, #2 was better, and #3 is the best I've read of the series so far. (I currently have #4 on library hold, and #5 is scheduled for release in Sept.)
A solid mystery with perfect pacing. I love the Strike/Robin relationship. The characters are really complicated, and I feel for them. The ending made me want book 4 RIGHT NOW without being a torturous cliffhanger. Loved it.
I‘ve been enjoying the Robert Galbraith novels. We knew, of course, that Ms Rowling had writing chops, and through a change in genre and audience she‘s given us finely crafted mysteries.
In Career of Evil, Robin is being stalked by a serial killer, which we discover after a severed leg is shipped to the office. Cormoran believes the killer is someone he‘s dealt with in the past
Features the lyrics of Blue Öyster Cult/Patti Smith songs.
It‘s just struck me that, having been pleasantly surprised by the first Cormoran Strike book, I‘ve found each of its successors increasingly disappointing. The tagged book features serial killers, a point in its disfavour for me. So, when the fifth book comes out, I may not update my discussion of tropes and subgenres in the first three (as I did for the fourth, which has some unsubtle political satire): https://medium.com/p/7bd41682fbdc
My favorite entry so far. The mystery was engaging and all the potential villains sick and twisted. Loved the new info on Cormoran and Robin's pasts. And I thought it was really cool how she used the Blue Oyster Cult lyrics throughout.
One spoilery comment below.
Great opening which immediately pulled me in, but the ending dragged a bit. I hope the next book focusses a bit more on the mystery and less on the 'will they, won't they' romance.
I really enjoyed this book in the series. You get to find out more about Comoran‘s past. I wish that Robin and he could be just friends though. Why does there need to be a romance every flame a female and male work together?! Can‘t they just be friends?! This is not because I think she should be with Matthew, in fact she should leave him but I digress, back to the review.
Loved the mystery and was surprised at who it was.

An explanation had never been the point. She had simply liked being the only one who wanted to find out the truth.
The crime that must be solved, as always, veered into unreality. I still love Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott. They are both decent people that really, really want to get together but can‘t quite overcome the obstacles to doing so.
the other 2 novels of the Cormoran Strike series arrived today 🔎🤗
I know I‘m super late coming to this series! I am loving it, though, and have the next one queued up in my TBR already!
Readable but in a hate read-y sort of way. And there‘s no need for it to be this long.
Those of you who told me that this series just keeps getting better were so right. I was really into this book and analyzing the three suspects to try and decide which one I thought was the serial killer. Cormoran and Robin are still more of a draw to me than the central mystery and that ending made me want to pick up the next book immediately.
November is here! Hopefully it will be an easier month and I‘ll get to spend more time on Litsy. 💕
Finally getting to the final book in the Cormoran Strike series. #currentread
Remember yesterday when I said I sort of hate this series but I‘ll keep reading them? Well I‘ve already started the next one...
Book 3 of #spookathon
Prompt: read a book with a spooky word in the title.
A bit apprehensive going into this one as I really disliked book 2 in this series (the silkworm). I've heard good things about this one though 🤞
I have finished and it was FABULOUS!! 😍😍😍
Oh. My. God!...
These chapters into the killer‘s psyche get my heart pumping EVERY time! Needless to say, I am thoroughly enjoying this read!

And on to the the next! One more in the series that I have to read before I can watch the show! Yay! Love myself some mystery 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Well, I didn‘t know that Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) was a thing, so that‘s ... disturbing news. Robin and Strike investigate another bizarre case; scuffle again with the police. This third installment delivers more background and deeper character development, but was a bit too grisly for my taste. So. Many. Triggers. Despite that, I couldn‘t stop listening. Glenister‘s audio narration is scarily engaging.
Started #BFCR3 with a 5-mile (ran 4mi, walked 1mi) on a different greenway than I usually use, but is close by. Completely engrossed in the tagged book and it‘s great on audio!

Ah, yes. When a character has your name and it‘s spelled “correctly.” 😉 I‘m kidding, of course. There are so many ways to spell it. The Starbucks baristas are really hit or miss. 😜
A British untouched up Vince Vaughn is how I‘ll always picture Cormoran Stike. The 3rd novel might be the best if the 3 I‘ve read. One of my faves in my favorite genre!
Squeeeee! This one had me on the edge of my seat and totally gave me scary dreams, but it was so good.
Oh man. This book is so much scarier than the last two. I only have three hours left, but I think something bad is going to happen so I‘m gonna have to put this in the freezer for a minute.
Back-to-back-to-back........I‘m on a Cormoran Strike run! The more I get into this series, the more I like it. This one had the added (anonymous) perspective of the killer interspersed, which I thought added some more intrigue. Kept me guessing until the end!
..............And now on to book #4!
The weather for the Canadian long weekend has been touch and go in Southern Ontario. I‘ve gotten quite a bit of reading in 🎉🤣the Cormoran Strike series is completely ADDICTING! I love everything about it. I want to immediately start the next one but I think I better read something else
