Object Lessons is a series of short, beautifully designed books about the hidden lives of ordinary things. Questionnaires are everywhere: we fill them out at doctors' offices and at job interviews, to express ourselves and to advance knowledge, to find love and to kill time. But where did they come from, and why have they proliferated? Evan Kindley's Questionnaire investigates the history of the form as form, from the Victorian confession album to the BuzzFeed quiz. By asking questions about the questions we ask ourselves, Kindley uncovers surprising connections between literature and science, psychology and business, and journalism and surveillance. Object Lessons is published in partnership with an essay series in The Atlantic.

@Amiable and others

Any ideas on #chuncksterchallenge next year?

I‘m looking at some but I do better if others are reading too. Some include Le Morte D‘Arthur, Les Mis, Anna Karenina, and Ulyseees. What are ye thinking?🤔 🧐

Photo of White Mountains near Franconia Notch New Hampshire taken by my husband last week.

Cuilin @Ruthiella yes, I‘m definitely planning reading with the wonderful #hashtagbrigade I even sent the preferred translation suggestion to my husband as a gift hint lol 4mo
Amiable I‘m still contemplating a chunkster for 2024. Usually I alternate fiction and nonfiction. I did a fiction book in 2023, so NF would be up next. Not sure if I have one that meets my page count requirement for a #chunksterchallenge , though —I need to check my stacks. (edited) 4mo
See All 46 Comments
Amiable And also —I already read “Les Mis” for my annual chunkster several years ago and it was torture, so I would definitely not be volunteering for that again. 😖😀 4mo
Amiable I could be persuaded to read “Anna Karenina,” possibly. I do have that one in my stacks. But if you are doing “The Brothers Karamazov” you might not want that much Russian literature at one time. 4mo
dabbe @Amiable Brothers should count as a chunkster, right? 😃 4mo
Cuilin @Amiable I tried Les Mis by myself and bailed. Need to to it with a group. Yeah, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky at the same time is probably not a good idea lol. (edited) 4mo
Cuilin @dabbe I think so. 4mo
dabbe @Cuilin Lordy, I tried Les Mis THREE times and just couldn't do it. It probably didn't help that I saw the musical multiple times. The scene with the candlesticks in the musical lasts about 30 seconds; in the book it was over 100 pages! Yikes! 😱 4mo
Amiable @dabbe Depends on the edition! According to Goodreads, the hardcover first edition of “Brothers” is just under 800 pages. I personally don‘t consider it a chunkster to complete the challenge unless it‘s at least 1,000 pages. But I‘m a sucker for punishment. 😀 4mo
Cuilin @dabbe yeah that‘s why I need a group read. I saw the musical too. Also I thought they did great with the movie. There‘s a fabulous miniseries too. I just need to read the book. 4mo
Cuilin @Amiable @Dabbe The Penguin Classic edition has The Brothers K at 1,013 pages. So if we read that version 🤷‍♀️ 😂 4mo
dabbe @Cuilin That's the one I have! 🤩🤩🤩 4mo
TheBookHippie Also I have the chapter print out I did for 2020 LesMis a chapter a day …I would reread it for 2025 🤣😅 keep it in mind. 4mo
TheBookHippie @dabbe naughty naughty talking bad about my favorite book 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I saw the movie got so mad shut it off 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it‘s not the same! 4mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie Oh, that bio wasn‘t on my radar! It looks really good. I‘m putting it on my list for sure! 4mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie So I just went to look for that FDR book. I was going to purchase the e-book for ease of carrying. Then I noticed another book that this author has written. It's a glowing, fluffy profile of his “good friend“ Donald Trump. 🤮 Who, because of the bio, apparently pardoned Black after he served 3+ yrs in prison for fraud. (Here's an article: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/may/15/conrad-black-trump-pardons-ex-m... (edited) 4mo
Amiable Having learned all that ⬆️, I'm inclined to pass on his FDR book. Or at the very least, browse through my local used bookstore and see if they have a copy. I'm not spending my money on this author. 😖 (edited) 4mo
TheBookHippie @Amiable ughhhh well not reading that then yuk. I do like FDR I‘ll find another!!!!!! Gads. 4mo
TheBookHippie @Amiable it‘s a pass there must be another good one somewhere!!! 4mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie Have you ever read the LBJ series by Robert Caro? I‘ve wanted to start those for years but haven‘t yet. 4mo
TheBookHippie @Amiable no and same!!! 4mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie This one looks promising 4mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie What about seeing if anyone is interested in a group read of the Caro books? It would likely be a multi-year project! 4mo
TheBookHippie @Amiable yes! For sure I‘d be in!!! I‘m heading back to class but I‘ll check in later. Last day of school!!! Finally. 4mo
TheBookHippie @Amiable I added to stack that FDR. Mine is headed to the used book store. 🤮 ughh 4mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie Here's an obit for Jean Edward Smith, who wrote the FDR book I tagged above. This is the FDR book I'm putting on my list for sure! https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/13/books/jean-edward-smith-dead.html 4mo
Cuilin @Amiable @TheBookHippie I‘ll pass on these. Biographies are my least favorite genre. I‘d read a history book of an era but it would be a rare memoir/biography that would peek my interest. Christine, I‘ll definitely read Les Mis ‘25 4mo
TheBookHippie @Cuilin I put it in my book! ✔️ 4mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie So you're saying I should try again? 🤩 Which translation would you recommend? 4mo
TheBookHippie @dabbe
Christine Donougher Les Miserables: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) https://a.co/d/8TNwHs6 Plus reading it slower with ppl helps tremendously .
4mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie Thinking this could be my chunkster for 2024. 🤔 Maybe it was my translations that sucked. I haven't tried this one. Thanks for the rec! 😘 4mo
dabbe @Cuilin Well, this is certainly a treasure trove! Thanks! 😘 4mo
Amiable @Cuilin Sorry we highjacked your thread! 😬 4mo
Cuilin @Amiable no worries, I enjoyed the chat. Nice to see what others are thinking about 2024 reads. 🩷 4mo
Amiable @Cuilin I sort of forgot that we were chatting on your thread and not @TheBookHippie 's! 😃 (edited) 4mo
Bluebird @Amiable and @thebookhippie i love Robert Caro! I started with the 3rd book of the LBJ series. It‘s my favorite, but all were great! It‘s definitely a multi-year project. Lol. (edited) 4mo
Bluebird @Cuilin Ken Follett‘s Knightbridge series is wonderful—all chunksters! I‘m deciding between Pope Joan and the ‘prequel‘ of this series for my Jan booked in time read. 4mo
Amiable @Bluebird “Pope Joan” is really good! If it‘s the same one I‘m thinking of 4mo
Cuilin @Bluebird I bought the latest Follet for my husband. I need to check the page count. Hmm 🤔 4mo
Bluebird @Amiable yes that‘s the one! If I don‘t read it this month, I definitely plan to read it this year—it‘s on my 2024 shortlist. 😀 4mo
Bluebird @Cuilin Pillars of the Earth is one of my alltime favorites. It‘s the Kingsbridge series, not knightsbridge. 🤦‍♀️. 4mo
Cuilin @Bluebird I saw your comment on Pope Joan, after a little research found it was free on Audible, no credit needed. Started it and am now on chapter 11. 😳 so thanks 🙏 I‘ve also called it Knightsbridge too. 🤔 4mo
Bluebird @Cuilin yay! Congrats on getting Pope Joan free and making a great start. Enjoy! 4mo

Ever since we were small children we've been exposed to a number of enchanting fictional worlds and places.
Some came to us through books, while we were shown others through television and movies. It's a lot of fun to imagine slipping into one of these worlds to see and experience it for ourselves. What are some fictional settings you'd like to visit?

suvata I am going to pick Funiculi Funicula - a cafe in Tokyo from the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series. ☕️ 7mo

mom2bugnbee Since I'm well past the age of attending Hogwarts, I'll say Narnia as well! That was my first thought as well @Meshell1313 . 7mo

suvata @andrew61 Just Williams? I don‘t know who that is. What am I missing out on? FOMO 7mo
andrew61 @suvata William Brown is a classic English children's character. The author is Richmael Compton and the series went on for years. These were amongst my earliest books as a child. Imagine a classic English village and add a scruffy school boy with a catapult and a miscevious cunning. Sorry it should have read Just William. 7mo

Thanks for the tag, @Eggs ❤️
1. It‘s when people think they know everything. You know the ones who call out people on unimportant things (like grammar rules that should‘ve been abolished ages ago or a slight mispronunciation on a word only 20% of the population even knows). And they‘re usually the ones who hog a conversation 🙄.
2. Characters who won‘t learn from their mistakes and make the same bad choices over and over again.

@TheSpineView

Aims42 I‘m with you on your pet peeve 🙄 My SIL falls into this category along with the “one upper” category too. I can hang with her in small doses lol 14mo

Looking for advice: What do you do when you don‘t like the narrator of your audiobook but you like the story?

jen_the_scribe I get the physical book. I can‘t do audiobooks if I‘m not feeling the narrator. 2y
Prairiegirl_reading I turn up the speed and if that doesn‘t work I get the paper. 2y
aperfectmjk Isn't that the worst?!? I usually have to do immersion reading with those. Follow along with the physical copy. But there have been times when I just can't listen to the narrator at all. I really hate when I'm listening to a narrator that sounds elderly portraying a young adult. Completely ruins the character for me. 2y
ShananigansReads @Prairiegirl_reading started on my regular 1.25 speed and couldn‘t understand her at all so kicked it down to 1. Now I‘ve turned it back up and it‘s a little better. 2y
ShananigansReads @jen_the_scribe @aperfectmjk Tried to find the print version at the library yesterday and even though the computer said they had it I couldn‘t put my eyes on it. ☹️ 2y

Hey #BookspinBingo players, when you have a free space on your board is it free like I can make bingo without anything here (like the center space for regular bingo) or free like you can read anything to put there?

How do you stay up to read or get a lot of reading done ? I am planning on staying up a lot next month (hopefully) even though I have a four year old lol. #listyquestion #reading

Bookwormjillk I don‘t, but I do get up early 4y
Scochrane26 I tend to avoid things like cleaning & other responsibilities & read instead. 😂 I read a lot on weekends or at night. 4y
i.besteph I find scheduled time to read helpful. A fixed one hour that I tend to waste away on social media or Netflix can be used otherwise ;) (edited) 4y
See All 7 Comments
TheAromaofBooks I don't usually stay up late, but I do tend to read when I'm doing other things, like folding laundry (or, you know, walking from one end of the house to the other haha) I also think about what time I'm spending doing things like scrolling social media, and sometimes will redirect that into reading time as well. 4y
coffeewithbooks I just feel like I been going not stop lately and not been able to read. My daughter hardly sleeping anymore so sometime can‘t read when she loud lol. 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm grumpy when I'm tired so I only stay up if I'm feeling awake. I do listen to audio books in the car (when I'm alone) and sometimes in the office while doing easy tasks. I am more likely to get quiet time to read in the mornings or the early evenings when my guy works late. 4y

Okay guys, my brother in law wants an e-reader. Just a basic reader, reads like a printed book with no crazy backlight. Easy to load books onto it from the library. He has amazon prime. He also has dyslexia and needs it to be easy to adjust for his reading needs. He has a book light to use with it. Suggestions? Kindle or Nook? Not super expensive is preferred. 🤔 #whichereader
Thank you!

Beatlefan129 I love my Kindle Paperwhite. It only cost $100, no back light, and it‘s easy to adjust text size. 4y
Johanna414 I'm seconding the Kindle Paperwhite! I absolutely love mine and I believe there is a font designed specifically for people with dyslexia 4y
Hestapleton I‘m obsessed with my kindle paper white. 4y

katy4peas 👍🏼 Is it easy to add library books to it? @Beatlefan129 @Johanna414 @Hestapleton 4y
Beatlefan129 I add library books all the time. I have the Libby app and there‘s a button for download to Kindle @katy4peas 4y
Amie Library books are much easier to put on a Kindle than a nook. I love my Kindle paperwhite. 4y
Chrissyreadit I would go kindle too. I started with nook but they developed obsolete operating systems and could not update with customer service telling me there was nothing I could do. Switched to kindle and not had same problem. 4y
Cortg Another add to the Kindle. You can change the font and dyslexic users seem to have an easier time reading with the Open Dyslexic font. I have a Kindle Paper White. It‘s basic and easy to use especially with borrowed library ebooks. 4y
katy4peas That‘s great! @Cortg I kinda want to trade in my nook for a kindle now. I can‘t read library books on my nook so I use it just for my purchased and free ebooks. I also have a horrible time downloading the NetGalley ARCs on it which is annoying as I don‘t like reading those on my phone or computer. 🙄 ah well. Thanks for the advice. 😊 4y
Cortg @katy4peas I hear ya! I bought my dad the Paper white and I was envious for 2 years. Then they upgraded the Paper white and the original was discounted so I splurged. I had the original touchscreen but hated the dark background on it. 4y
katy4peas Does the paper white have a reading light built in like the nook glow light? That soft front light glow for reading? @Cortg 4y
Cortg It does and you can modify the light setting. It‘s quite lovely, not harsh on your eyes and easy to read at the beach! 4y
katy4peas Awesome, thanks @Cortg 😁 4y

Slight bandwagon but I figure one can‘t complain if one isn‘t willing to step up and try and help fix those issues!!

2. Popularity contests, bullying and photo contests (that ones gonna be controversial, I know 😂🤦🏻‍♀️😂)

GlassAsDiamonds Need to be regulated, especially swaps that seem to have just become exclusionary (US Only... 😡) and excessive. I‘ve volunteered a few times to be the “back up” and sent “replacements” for those who were scammed but there doesn‘t seem to be anyone moderating/ policing the scammers or even recording them. 6. I would like Litsy to work in all ways through the app (e.g. the add function) and to have a private message option. (edited) 4y
Megabooks Definitely with you on private messages!! 4y
ljuliel Thank you for your opinions. I‘m glad to hear them. I agree on the swaps. It‘s dysfunctional in a lot of areas. Some people spend a truckload and get sometimes nothing in return. I had some long lasting interactions regarding that. ( I‘d rather not get into here): but it left a nasty taste in my mouth. I also think there have been way too many. I brought that up awhile back, it was sot down on that opinion. 4y
See All 18 Comments
ljuliel #2 has me a bit puzzled, but I guess a lot goes on in here that we aren‘t all aware of. I‘m sorry if there have been bullying and popularity issues. Since I don‘t understand what happened, I can‘t comment much further than that. If there‘s any way I can help you, tag me. You can email me if you want to discuss it further. I‘ve had a bit of my own behind the scenes stuff but I choose not to post it for everyone to read. 4y
julesG @ljuliel Oh, now that you brought it up. Yes, the bullying is something I don't want to see again. It was nasty and probably led to a few of the "old-timers" leaving Litsy. Also, private messages would be cool. 4y
ljuliel Thanks @julesG I guess all that slipped right by me. Or maybe it happened when I was gone. I‘m sorry that happened in here and hope it was somehow remedied or the bullying party has left. 4y
GlassAsDiamonds @ljuliel from what I‘v seen... unfortunately not but rehashing history is unlikely to be productive at this juncture. I think moderators would be really helpful in that sort of situation (maybe also with swaps) because the worst just turned into mob chaos. Popularity is a tad difficult - I known the advice when joining is “FOLLOW EVERYONE” but I struggled with that because I wanted interaction not just “liking random posts” if that makes sense? 4y
GlassAsDiamonds @Megabooks wouldn‘t that be great??? I‘d love to actually just be able to stay in the Litsy ecosystem and chat with people! 😊😊😊 (edited) 4y
GlassAsDiamonds @julesG yeah, there were a few really nasty situations there weren‘t there? It turned me off for quite a while as well, especially since there wasn‘t really any recourse for people - shades of those viciously idiotic twitter mobs, not cool. 4y
ljuliel I understand. I‘ve been online for many years and usually if an event happens between 2 people and others jump in, it can get ugly. Sadly, Litsy isn‘t perfect and we have some of that behind the scenes stuff going on , even in the place that everyone thinks is great. It can taint your opinion a bit , I know. I don‘t believe in following everyone . I follow the ones who‘ve been in here since I started who are interesting and post books I like. 4y
Megabooks @julesG @ljuliel @GlassAsDiamonds I vaguely remember all the bullying and feeling bullied at times. (I had some medical treatments in 2018 that made much of 2017-18 inaccessible in my mind.) I don‘t think it‘s good to rehash that, but I do think there‘s still some competitive BS over litfluence, which is ridiculous. (Honestly, even if we got rid of litfluence, people some people would still want “likes” same as Instagram.) 👇 4y
Megabooks I find popularity about as interesting as belly button lint. I plan on filling this out @ljuliel but if something doesn‘t interest me, I scroll past. If someone‘s posts consistently don‘t interest me, I unfollow. I hope people find my posts interesting. But I‘m just trying my best to have fun and talk (mostly) about books! 4y
julesG @Megabooks I agree 100%. Some people just post to increase their Litfluence, posting lots of pictures off the internet to get likes. Furthermore, I dislike when Littens post several reviews of one book. It can make or break the review ratio of a book. 4y
Cinfhen #PREACH 🙌🏻 4y
ljuliel Thank you @megabooks. I‘m very sorry you also had bullying problems. I don‘t remember seeing it , but it‘s a bit hard to keep up with a group this huge , so things could slide right on by and if you don‘t read every single word of every post, you might miss something. This place is maybe a bit like Disneyland . Much more fun to visit that to wear the Donald Duck suit. What I‘m saying is, on the outside, it looks good, but underneath might look bad 4y
ljuliel And on the point thing . Who the heck cares ? I never go to someone‘s page to see how many points they have. When I left before and asked them to close my account, I had probably 200,000 posts ? I started back at zero when I came back. To me, it‘s just an extra quirk. Its not important. 4y
Megabooks @ljuliel exactly! I use my litfluence as a chance to do giveaways if I catch a cool number on a screenshot, but otherwise, I don‘t even think about it. 4y
wanderinglynn @GlassAsDiamonds @Megabooks I am so sorry you both had negative bullying experiences. You both are awesome and I enjoy reading your posts. I‘m glad you both stayed. ❤️❤️ 4y

1. Finding new books to read, connecting with people who love books like I do
2. Sometimes the games/photo challenges/daily questions take over the bookish posts I actually came to see.
3. Fix the issue where the TBR list jumps back to the top whenever you click on a book link and go back.
4. Depends on my work schedule: deadline weeks means I‘m not around as much
5. Yes to all; enjoy swaps and read alongs the most
6. ⬇️

ljuliel Thank you ! Every opinion matters ! 4y
MeganAnn 6. I‘ve been pushing myself to get better about commenting more and not just strolling past posts with a like. I think people have become too focused on things like the games or daily photo challenges/questions and then post less about the books they are reading. I like learning more about other littens, but seeing the same set of questions answered ten times in a row gets old. 4y
MeganAnn 3. Also I wish there was a way to dual search - for example, search by hashtag and then for a specific person‘s post. Or by person and then for a specific book. Sometimes I‘m looking for a certain post to go back to and it takes forever to find it. 4y

GlassAsDiamonds @MeganAnn with you on the photo challenges!!! (I thought I was the only one!!! 😂😱😂) I don‘t do them but between them and swaps, I feel like I rarely see much actual book content anymore! 4y
MeganAnn @GlassAsDiamonds glad I‘m not the only one!! 😆I know some people love participating and I‘m glad they enjoy it, but it‘s too much sometimes! 4y
GlassAsDiamonds @MeganAnn UnpopularOpinionsUnite!! 😂😂😂😂 When they started, it was sort of funny to see, and some people are really inventive but... scrolling through reams worth of challenge photos to find a post about something someone‘s actually read is so frustrating!!!!! 4y
rubyslippersreads Definitely with you on 3. 4y
Sace Your 3 is brilliant! 4y
MrBook Couldn‘t agree me with your answers, @MeganAnn ! Then again, I‘ve never known you to not have great insights. 😊 4y
Centique OMG number 3 is so right. I ended up taking screen shots of my TBR because it takes so long to scroll to the bottom of it and if I touch a title - bang, I‘m going to have to start again! 4y
Centique @GlassAsDiamonds wouldn‘t it be good if you could just filter for review posts? Another possible improvement I reckon 🧐 4y

Ok, I've put some thought into this so it might be long. Be warned!

1. The community. I came here to talk about books but not only about books and I love that about this place. It's a safe space for book lovers to meet and converse without the commercialism of bookstagram and book Twitter. No judgement, all fun
2. Honestly, nothing. If I see something I'm not into, I keep scrolling.
3. I'd love to see an option to like a comment. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

FantasyChick Sometimes I just don't have anything else to say but I want people to know I appreciate the comment. I would also love to find a way to have more book club like conversations. I love the postal book clubs and the occasional group reads I see, but i feel that there is room for improvement on a more all-out community level to have more involved conversations on certain book picks. Also....more stickers please 😊 4y
FantasyChick 4. Sometimes once a day, sometimes once a week, sometimes multiple times a day. It varies based on Litsy activities and personal commitments 5. I like all the happenings and involve myself as much as I can. I think swaps are fun but definitely have been over done over the years. 6. What I mentioned above. I also think Litfluence is more of a popularity contest that we don't necessarily need. Also....more characters! @mrbook @ljulel 4y
FantasyChick Oh....I would also LOVE to be able to edit a comment. Pretty please!!! 😇😇😇 4y

wanderinglynn Yes, more stickers! 👍🏻 Yes, more stickers! 👍🏻 And you can edit your comments—tap on the comment & you get options (copy, delete, mark as spoiler, edit). And then it will notate (like on this comment) that it‘s edited. (edited) 4y
FantasyChick @wanderinglynn Do you have an iphone? It's not an option on my android 😑 4y
wanderinglynn Ah, I didn‘t know it was phone specific. Yep, it needs to be an option for everyone! 4y
ljuliel Great ideas. I‘m pondering the one about getting more book club like conversations. I‘ll think on that to see what I can come up with. Thank you. 4y
MrBook @FantasyChick I‘m glad I tagged you. 😎🙌🏻 4y
FantasyChick @mrbook I'm happy you did!! 4y
FantasyChick @ljuliel Thanks 😊 Always happy to share some ideas! 4y

Everything: book recommendations, book chat and friendships, from around the world.
If I‘m not following or not interested in something I just scroll past - like you‘d tune out if it was a conversation in the pub. It‘s not a big issue.
Read alongs. Swaps when I feel like.
Really not sure 🤷‍♀️ I love it, things evolve.
Search your own posts somehow and post pictures in a conversation.
Generally every day

Velvetfur Oh yes, friendships from around the world, I agree with that one 😊 4y

1. I love seeing likeminded people who love to read. I get such great suggestions on what‘s the hot read and things I normally wouldn‘t read.
2. Meh, if I‘m not interested I keep scrolling 🤷🏼‍♀️
3. 🤷🏼‍♀️
4. I go in waves, about a couple of times a week when I‘m active
5. My favorite thing is book discussions, id love to read more so being involved in a discussion is a great way to do that and share ideas

1. The best book suggestions, insightful reviews, and genuinely lovely people.
2. I haven‘t been a joiner lately, but I like seeing what others are doing. I wish Litsy would solve the irritating double posting issue.
3. Please, for the love of all that‘s holy, fix the horrible problems since the 13.x iOS update. Litsy is unusable on my phone now. Nearly every inch sends my away from posts. I‘m not updating my ⬇️

BarbaraTheBibliophage iPad although I should! 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage 5. I like it all, but am most likely to do a readalong. Timing on other stuff always seems off. (edited) 4y

BarbaraTheBibliophage 4. (Ooops!) 7-10 times a week ... or so ... 4y
ljuliel Thanks for your input. I agree, that screen/ scrolling issue thing was driving me bonkers. They had yet another update recently and it‘s improved a bit. Maybe they‘ll get the kinks worked out soon. I hope 🤞🏼. I just did a read along and it was fun. Very low key, no stress. I plan to do another of them myself. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @ljuliel I haven‘t seen any improvement with iOS updates since 13.0. And Litsy hasn‘t done an app update for 8 months. But I‘ll cross my fingers too! 4y
ljuliel @BarbaraTheBibliophage My latest iPad update says it‘s 13.2 , so maybe that was the last one ? I never remember to look for Litsy app updates. It sounds like maybe it‘s time for an overhaul if it‘s been that long. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @ljuliel I‘m going to do the 13.2 update tonight and see if it helps! 4y
KT1432 Yessss to this!! I was shocked I didn't see more people complaining about the terrible iOS update, but maybe everyone just stopped posting as much like I did lol. Every scroll takes me to a link or hashtag! 😠 4y
ljuliel Good luck Barbara. I hope it helps you ! 4y
ljuliel @lele1432 Yes it was really frustrating for awhile. Every time you touch the screen, it‘d shoot you off in a different direction. Either sideways or clear back up to the top. Mine is behaving better now than before. It‘s not perfect, but better. 4y
KT1432 @ljuliel mine has calmed down as well since I updated again, but I still have to be careful to avoid anything with a link, whereas before it was just so fluid! It never sent me anywhere I didn't wanna go. Ugh Apple lol. 🙄 4y
ljuliel I agree, but I love my Apple devices. They‘ll have to pry them out of my cold dead hands. 😊 @lele1432 4y
KT1432 @ljuliel mine too, so I can't complain too much lol 😂 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @lele1432 I honestly wonder how much is iOS and how much is Litsy. I get that this app runs on a shoestring, but most of my apps have updated since 13.0 released from Apple. 4y
Laughterhp For some reason my phone is no longer having the issues of super sensitive links.. thankfully! I am on 13.2 iOS now. 4y
Palimpsest I barely can scroll without triggering some hadhtag or link. It‘s maddening. I haven‘t been on Litsy as much because i find it that problematic. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Laughterhp I‘m doing the update for that tonight. Crossing fingers. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Palimpsest Same here. People above are saying it gets better with 13.2. I‘ll try to make a note here if it helps ... 4y
Litsi More user help would help. Like I don‘t know how to ger access to the questionnaire. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Litsi Hi - glad you asked. If you want to post your own answers to this list of questions, just make a screen grab of my image. Then pick a book to post it under (use the one I did if that‘s easiest). And answer the questions (remember to use the hashtag) in your post and the comments. Hope that helps! 4y

#litsyquestionnaire
1. The book reviews/recommendations, the swaps, the games, reading buddies (i.e., pets), general interactions & awesomeness of everyone
2. I can‘t think of anything. I like it all, regardless of whether I actively participate.
3. 🤷🏼‍♀️
4. Depends. Some days a lot, some days (although rare), nothing. I usually post at least once a day.
5. Yes, I enjoy all of them
👇🏻

wanderinglynn 6. I think what‘s great about Litsy is there‘s something for everyone. But if there‘s something I‘m not particularly interested in, I scroll on. Easy peasy. But one functionality thing I‘d like to see is to be able to sort the TBRs or at least search because it can be a pain, even on the desktop version, to try to dig through someone‘s TBR for a swap or a just because gift. 4y
ljuliel Good point , Lynn. It seems that lots of folks would like the TBR area easier to access and sort through. I‘m glad you mentioned the pet photos. I like seeing them too, since I don‘t have a pet. I can see everyone else‘s. 🐈 🐕 🐰 4y
TorieStorieS I would love an easier TBR search!! And the way that you can compare your own categories like you can on Goodreads! 4y

Litsi My suggestions are 1) increase the posting limit 2) limit the content to books - not weddings, dogs without books, vacations, etc. I don‘t need another general topic social media site. 3) create an icon to especially praise a well crafted photo. It keeps Litsy beautiful and is worthy of special note. 4) Make it easier to find posts that respond to your posts. These are all reasons that I use it less than I want to. Thanks for asking. (edited) 4y
Litsi One more thing: an easy way to block posts, not a person, that is not about books. 4y
wanderinglynn @Litsi I can‘t take credit. It was @ljuliel who created the questionnaire. And as far as I know, there‘s no posting limit. (edited) 4y
Litsi The 451 words limit on reviews 4y
wanderinglynn @Litsi Ah, got it. 👍🏻 I was thinking of limits on posts, not the character limit. 4y
janeycanuck @Litsi you can mute specific hashtags from the web version of Litsy. Maybe that would help cut down on the content you don‘t want to see? 4y
marleed @ljuliel I love Litsy and Littens! My suggestion would be an app session setting. Some days I don‘t have time to scroll down my entire feed. I‘d love an option to filter on ‘Picks‘ only - just for that session. ...Also, I love the newish thing where I can follow books I‘ve tagged as read or stacked. It would be fun if i could add to my timeline ‘Picks‘ for specific genres - but not the blurbs or quotes. 4y
ljuliel Thank you for the answers @Litsi. I appreciate your honesty. So many have mentioned wanting a bigger area to post reviews. That‘s one I have trouble with too. I‘m a bit long winded, so it‘s pretty hard to write an adequate review in the space we have. I hope you‘ll stick around, even though there are areas you‘d like to change. . 4y
ljuliel Thanks for the feedback @marleed. I appreciate it 🙂 4y

🍁 Being with people who also love reading.
🍁 I usually enjoy a bit of everything.
🍁 I would like a tbr list (have but haven't read) and if when your in the comments section, when you click on one and go back you don't end up back at the top.
🍁 At least 5 times a week, sometimes a lot more.
🍁 yes to all
🍁 I really would like a tbr section.
