This is one of my favorites, if not my most favorite, in the Discworld series. Pratchett hit the nail on the head again. His take on government is spot on. As usual, there are laughs throughout the story. 4.5 ⭐

I'm pretty invested in liking the characters I read about, so with the premise of a reluctantly reform(ing) con man as the protagonist, it surprised me with how quickly I empathized and enjoyed the ride directed by this clever rascal. Jeff Bezos analog villain put things in perspective! The value of different forms of communication, the danger of bottom line/corporate greed over sustainable business model, the build of suspense and hijinks. ♥️

Miss Dearheart, with the honest decorator tips: "You could perhaps do something with floral wallpaper and a fire-bomb."

One of Von Lipwig's many incisive remarks:
"A smooth tongue was not much use in rough trousers."

Political and social satire amid eloquence with staying power.
