pickWow! Can‘t believe I waited so long to read this one! Loved Bri and what great parents! They were so loving and suportive❤️ loved following Bri journey learning about her families past and that house was so enchanting. That ending gave me anxiety but can‘t wait to start the next one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
pickI really enjoyed this book! The cover is amazing too! I ordered the second novel as soon as I finished this one. It was cool to be able to read a novel like this where the MC is a young black girl. There are some fantastically magical elements in this novel, such as Briseis‘s unique ability to control plants, the mysterious apothecary, and the deadly garden filled with botanical dangers.
so-soThis was one of those books where I enjoyed it, but I also wanted to finish it. I was swept in right away, but hated how the cliffhanger of an ending. I loved the spin on Greek mythology but I didn‘t feel any emotions from the main character or those last few chapters. Might pick up the sequel, but not right away.

pickThis was a fun read! Following along as Bri discovers herself, and her history and abilities is a fast-paced road. The links with Greek mythology — and earlier — were thoughtful and worked with the story, and all the characters were well-drawn and interesting. The Poison Garden is fascinating and the magical elements make it all work together. I was so involved I looked wildly for the sequel as soon as I was done.

Starting this one tonight. It is my 51st book of the year. My goal is 52 books this (and honestly every) year. I am hoping that I can reach 90 tho like I did last year. I've heard good things about this one. Going to dive in now.

pickI adored characters in this book, it was really easy to relate to Bri. I also loved the message there: embrace who you are and be yourself.
I also recognized how the author loves the same kind of stories than me because there were certain vibes and acknowlegments confirmed where those vibes came from. I really loved the atmosphere.
This was really solid story, easy and pleasurable to read.

pickI loved this book! Twisty and vicious with amazing takes on Greek mythology, bloodthirsty plants, and hidden gardens. All the characters felt very real, with the possible exception of one… is he a full human being, I wonder? I‘m really looking forward to book 2, which seems like it will have a completely different kind of plot. One small negative is that Briseis seemed really slow on the uptake at times.
Why would anyone name their child Briseis? It‘s like you‘re asking for bad stuff to happen to them.

I stayed up way too late reading this book, & once I finished I immediately started the sequel. I adore the world the author built & honestly kind of want to live in Rhinebeck. This book is perfect for those who love mystery, magic, mythology, apothecaries & plants, & old houses with secrets.

pickI liked this more than the last book I read by this #ColoradoLocal author (Cinderella is Dead)! I enjoyed Briseis's plant power, having adopted moms, and the overall feel of the story. In the last 10%, it did drop back into the overly dramatic and mostly unbelievable style that I disliked in her other book. pickI am going to give this 4.5 stars because you have to read a second book. Lol the story was well done & the pieces came together. I could guess some but there were plot twist. Now I have to read the second book because there is so much more to know. This book weaves Greek myths & history together while giving a modern story. Add to your stack but make sure to add both. Unlike the previous book by this author of a reimagined fairy tale, this book is based off a story of a disciple of Hecate and how myth and truth are woven together to tell the stories of a time before internet.
