"At every page a guilty secret bobs up; at every page Lawhon keeps us guessing.Who will bring down the Hindenburg? And how?-- New York Times Book ReviewOn the evening of May 3rd, 1937, ninety-seven people board the Hindenburg for its final, doomed flight to Lakehurst, New Jersey. Among them are a frightened stewardess who is not what she seems; the steadfast navigator determined to win her heart; a naive cabin boy eager to earn a permanent spot on the worlds largest airship; an impetuous journalist who has been blacklisted in her native Germany; and an enigmatic American businessman with a score to settle. Over the course of three hazy, champagne-soaked days their lies, fears, agendas, and hopes for the future are revealed.Flight of Dreams is a fiercely intimate portrait of the real people on board the last flight of the Hindenburg. Behind them is the gathering storm in Europe and before them is looming disaster. But for the moment they float over the Atlantic, unaware of the inexorable, tragic fate that awaits them.Brilliantly exploring one of the most enduring mysteries of the twentieth century, Flight of Dreams is that rare novel with spellbinding plotting that keeps you guessing till the last page and breathtaking emotional intensity that stays with you long after. From the Hardcover edition.

I always wondered about airships..especially what it looked like inside. (Google will show you that) Lawson tells its story with a villain and heroes, up to the moment of explosion. (The luxury of a diner and a smoking room on board seemed unwise and hapless even for the late 1930s.)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved this book about the final flight of the Hindenburg. Even though we know how the story ends, Lawhon manages to ramp up the tension while setting up a possible theory for how and why it happened.

First meal and set of family is done. My daughter and I exchange books and chocolate on Christmas Eve. This year my daughter‘s boyfriend joined us. I‘m super happy about the books but I‘m over the moon about the bookmark he made me. I know my fellow #Pemberlittens will understand. It also has a lovely P & P charm which I managed to cover up. I think he‘s a keeper…hope the daughter does, too.

Tells of the three-day flight of the Hindenburg and its fire on the third day as it neared its landing spot of Lakehurst, New Jersey.

FLIGHT OF DREAMS is a well-researched and cleverly carried out book about the Hindenburg that will hold your interest.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yay I finally got a bingo for #bookspinbingo !! This was book No. 10 on my list. This one started off slowly and I wasn‘t sure I was going to like it. But then about a quarter of the way in everyone‘s motives start to form and the story becomes a page turner. This is a fictional account about the people on the Hindenburg flight to NJ before it exploded. There‘s espionage and romance and the Gestapo. I recommend for a different WWII story

This fictionalized account of the Hindenburg was well done. The author researched the victims and tried to portray their days as they traveled across the ocean on the airship. I am still not convinced about what caused the tragedy, but Lawson did a good job laying out possible causes.

This book had been in my TBR list (and shelf) for a couple of years now and finally just decided it was time to read it. I really enjoyed it. I realized I knew next to nothing about The Hindenburg, the passengers or even how it the airship itself worked. I very much enjoyed the writing, the characters and the obvious research that went into telling the story. It's been a little over a week since I read it but the characters are still with me.

Hooked_on_books I really liked this one! I also enjoyed her next book, which was a little different, but came together well in the end. 6y

I belong to the Merrymakers Book Club, and this was our most recent selection. I really enjoyed this book, and I was surprised that a novel about the Hindenburg could have such character development. It certainly is a fun read, and I found myself reading well into the night, which is my way of saying that I loved this book.

A HARD DAY‘S NIGHT

The Hindenburg definitely made for a “hard day‘s night” and a terrific book.

FLIGHT OF DREAMS tells of the three-day flight of the Hindenburg and its fire on the third day as it neared its landing spot of Lakehurst, New Jersey.

This book is well researched and a wonderful way to learn about this historical event.

I went old school with my #BOTM selection! I miss the early days of #BOTM when the choices were really varied and each book seemed well curated. I was slightly tempted by The Perfect Mother but after so many disappointing thrillers, I decided to skip it! I am curious why the choices are up so early?!?!?!

This fictionalization of the last flight of the Hindenburg hooked me from the very beginning. I knew the ending, but Lawhon does an excellent job of imagining how that might have happened. What caused the tragic ending? Was it human error or sabotage? Lawhon‘s research into the actual people on the trip was in depth and they were well portrayed. #werise #aprella

This was my F book for #Litsyatoz and it was a fascinating read. It is historical fiction based on the last flight of the Hindenburg and many of the characters are based on real people that were on that flight. Told from multiple perspectives, this book gives you insight into the lives of crew and passengers alike. Super interesting, it had me Googling more information about this historical tragedy long after putting the book down.

The only thing I really knew about the Hindenburg before reading this book is that it blew up. Lawhon does an excellent job weaving fact and fiction together to create a possible theory for what happened on that ill-fated flight. I really came to love the characters, all real people on the actual flight. I must remember that Starbucks is not the place to finish a book that will make you cry, which is what happened.
