Anybody else find themselves feeling nostalgic, longing to read books from their childhood? I have been missing the Sweet Valley High books a lot lately. I read every single one of them in grade 8 with a friend. They really helped ignite my love of books.

TheBookWitchON And, of course, we can't forget The Babysitters Club! I was so happy when I was lost in my books. My childhood and early teens were quite traumatic, books helped me escape and feel safe. 3y
slategreyskies Mine were traumatic too. I think reading books saved me, you know? 3y
TheBookWitchON @slategreyskies I do know. It's how I learned about the type of person I wanted to be, how parents are suppose to treat their children, what a healthy relationship looks like. Not to mention escaping into another world even for just an hour. It made life a lot more tolerable. 3y
slategreyskies Yes, I get that. It was the same for me. I remember when my mom finally realized that sending me to my room wasn‘t a punishment to me (because I‘d be in heaven away from everyone else and just reading a book on my bed). After that, whenever I got in trouble, instead of being sent to my room, I‘d have to sit in the living room with everyone else without a book! Odd the things we remember. Books really were life changing. So glad you had them too. 3y

Whaaaattttt? I think it‘s time to dig into my old SVH books…

JamieArc @JenlovesJT47 Are you the Litten who was reading a bunch of these books? 4y
LibrarianRyan This just scares me. 4y
JenlovesJT47 Yes!! I‘m doing a read-through of the entire series in publication order. I have about 20 left in the regular SVH series, then moving on to Senior Year and SVU. Man I realize what a huge nerd I sound like! 🤓🙊😬 4y

Book 3 in the fashion miniseries wraps everything up in typical Sweet Valley fashion. Liz & Reggie almost get away with the big presentation for Liz‘s big idea for the magazine, but Leona unfortunately comes hobbling in on crutches at the last second and tells the bigwigs that Liz stole HER idea, so Liz and Reggie are fired on the spot. Leona tries to make things up to Liz and asks to meet her in L.A. for brunch. Liz is then almost run off ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 The road over the edge of a cliff by some crazy dude, but Todd is there to save the day. He makes a police report and they are able to track down the guy who says he was hired by Leona to kill Liz! ? Leona gets busted, Liz gets the crédit she deserves, Reggie is rehired and starts dating the president of the company! Meanwhile, Jessica does a swimsuit layout but breaks up with Quentin before it was published. She is in love with the mailroom ⬇️ 5y
JenlovesJT47 Guy Cameron, but she can‘t find him anywhere! She gets a package in the mail with the blue pages for the next issue that feature her swimsuit layout. There‘s also a mysterious invitation to a fancy party at the head honcho‘s house. She goes and sees Cameron, and it turns out he‘s not a lowly mailroom guy but the son of the head honcho and is filthy rich. All‘s well that ends well! Todd realizes living on his own at 16 isn‘t all it‘s cracked ⬇️ 5y
BookishMarginalia I loved this series so much when I was a teen! 5y

I know I‘m so late posting this! This week has been so crazy with appointments for the kids and errands. Finally found a quiet minute! Anyway, I used to hide in the bathroom and read, especially when there were chores to be done! I could spend a long time in there with a book! 😂😁 I used to love Sweet Valley High books- I‘m sure I was reading some of them! #requiredreadingredo #day9

2. Beartown (fiction) Radium Girls (nonfiction)
3. The main character in The Luckiest Girl Alive. I also hated that book, so that didn't help.
4. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I didn't read past the first one.

Annashep Wow sweet valley high!!!! Totally remember them and really liked them 8y
JenlovesJT47 @Tove_Reads do you like Enid? I mostly find her insufferable lol. 8y
Tove_Reads @JenlovesJT47 I absolutely loved her! It was the years prior to SWH though, so I was a bit younger. Before her it was Astrid Lindgren. 8y
JenlovesJT47 Cool! Jessica was always my favorite, even though she was so ridiculous sometimes. The whole series is available to read for free on openlibrary.org if you want to take a stroll down memory lane! 8y
Tove_Reads @JenlovesJT47 Awesome! Will have to check it out! Never read them in English. I was team Elizabeth 😊 8y
JenlovesJT47 I think I always liked Jessica more because she was the opposite of me and I wished I was more like her when I was growing up! 😄 8y
JenlovesJT47 Oh, I meant to ask, do you like receiving/sending postcards? I used to be really involved in postcrossing.com and really loved exchanging cards from Finland especially (because I love Moomin and collected as many as I could!). Just started sending postcards again to some of my Litsy friends and was wondering if that's something you'd be interested in. If not, no worries, doesn't hurt to ask! 🤗💚 8y
Tove_Reads @JenlovesJT47 Probably not my thing, but you might get a Moomin card nonetheless! 8y

#day2 #siblings #awesomeautumnbooks @Jess7

Oh yes I did. Earlier this year as part of my birthday buying bonanza I bought the first 12 of the Sweet Valley High books in Kindle. I was "too old" for these when they first came out and now I'm too old to give a damn. I guess it's the teacher in me but I'm always interested in reading trends among younger readers.

Megabooks I bought some of my fav BSC books, so I get it! 8y

LauraBeth Can I come over to your house and read these?! These were my FAVORITE! Sadly, I was an adult when Harry Potter came out and missed out on reading that as a child - but I did have SVH 😀 8y
Sace @LauraBeth 😂 I'd love to read Harry Potter as a child! I also somehow manged to not read A Wrinkle in Time as a child. I read it as an adult. I regret that. 8y
Sace @Booksandcooks I pretty much only read fluffy. Things suck enough in real life. The last thing I want to do is read depressing things. 8y
Oryx I kinda wish I hadn't given all my SVH away, would love to reread. But hoping that someone else enjoyed them after me. 8y
batsy I hung on to some of my SVH books! Sometimes you just need to tune out the world and read about Jessica Wakefield creating an European alter ego so that she won't be mistaken for Elizabeth. 8y
Sace @Oryx I struggle with giving away books. I generally don't reread, but I get afraid that I might want to. So I end up hanging on to books. 8y
