What a treat to read a Christmas story that's not a Hallmark romance. Yes the ending is predictable, but it doesn't lessen the joy of the novel. Oswald Campbell moves from Chicago to Lost River, Alabama because of his health. The community he finds there, including a little girl named Patsy, Jack the cardinal, & Frances, the local busy body, all create the home & family he wasn't expecting. Just the feel-good Christmas read I was hoping for.

I don't read books based on whatever season it happens to be, but I picked this up in early December and absolutely loved it!

A feel good story about a Chicago man who moves south for his health and ends up loving his new life and community, and the bird who changes everyone.

I'm hanging on to this book as there are recipes at the end that sound amazing.

I LOVED this book! I love the author- I definitely recommend watching reruns of Match Game when she was a regular. This was a delightful small town story about community and love and a special redbird. If I were a Grinch, my heart would have grown three sizes just reading this book! ❤

I don‘t usually like sentimental Christmas books, but I loved the colorful cast of characters in this town, and there were some scenes in here that were described incredibly beautifully. I‘m really glad this was chosen as our team #buddyread for #wintergames2020 #readnosedreindeer ! Finished this holiday audiobook this morning. I was intrigued as a fan of the movie version of Fannie Flagg‘s Fried Green Tomatoes when I came across this on Libro.fm searching for holiday reads. It‘s was cute and went in a different direction than I expected. If you like Hallmark holiday movies, I think you‘ll like this book. 🎄🎅🏻☃️🧣

This book was sweet. A great Southern atmosphere and lovable characters. It showcases the beauty of relationships in the smallest of towns. Wrapped up very cleanly, which might have been annoying, but it fit with the overall style

A lovely little story of hope and new beginnings. It was a bit slow in places, and I skimmed quite a bit of it, but the story was sweet.

It‘s a delightful read. Uplifting story with lots of hope. I love the nature description of Last river. I always like the small town stories & this is not an exception. I liked most of the characters in the story. It‘s simple & heart warming. Perfect book for the holiday season specially in this disastrous year🙄

Overall, I have to admit this book sucked me in and held my attention for 80% of the story. I ended up giving it a so-so rating as things wrapped up way too nice and neatly (yes I know it‘s a Christmas title but I have my reasons😜).

I think I read somewhere that this is a buddy read, which I think means it‘s 50 points plus time read (thanks to a readathon). If so, 91 points total.

Just finished A Redbird Christmas. A sweet feel good story. It has all the makings of a Hallmark movie. Oswald, the MC, is told his lung disease has progressed to the point the Dr. Doubts he will live to see Xmas. He recommends a health resort in the small community of Lost River Alabama. There he meets great people and ond one special little girl that helps him heal. 3.5 to 4ish⭐

I definitely have a thing for Redbirds. My sister sent me this lantern snow globe for Christmas this year and it brings me joy. The book was a nice heartwarming story. I love the author. She is great at character and world building. I would definitely recommend the book. I started this audio read on my way home from SD. I know it is a couple days early, but why not get a head start.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book takes us to Lost River, Alabama, where we meet Patsy, Oswald and many more loveable characters. Jack is a Redbird who lives in the local grocery store. This bird lives a short life that has a profound affect on the whole town. Such a heartwarming Christmas story!!

A charming story of a man named Oswald T. Campbell who was given a terrible prognosis and had to move to a warmer climate for his health. An alcoholic and orphan, he never really learned to love and live until he meets the people of Lost River. 😍

Read this for my book club. Sweet though pretty predictable and veering toward saccharine. We won‘t have a lot to talk about but it was a quick, feel-good story that felt like watching a Hallmark movie set in a quirky little Alabama town.

This is a pair of light, touching, and hopeful Christmas stories! I was especially impressed by the Capote book - his writing is usually so dark but this was just a delightful story of childhood. Really enjoyed both of the books - great rainy, grey day reading! #wintergames #thefilthyanimals

Fannie Flagg writing a Christmas story is akin to dipping a sugar cookie into hot chocolate with marshmallows all while wrapped in your favorite old blanket and wearing a brand new pair of fuzzy socks. It‘s rather irresistible.

I needed something light and happy to read during December and Redbird Christmas was just the thing! It isn‘t deep and it may end wrapped up a little too perfectly (complete with bow on top), but I loved it! Such a fun southern book with the charm of Fried Green Tomatoes!
