1st book of 2024...a slightly disappointing read!
I love this author but this book wasn't his best work in my opinion

This is a re-read for me. I read it years ago.

Finished my last #BookSpin book last night, which was Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho. I‘ve had this book on my shelf for years, and finally read it for #foodandlit, since the main character is from Brazil. As per usual, I didn‘t bother reading the book blurb before diving in... assuming it was about dancing or romance because of the cover. Nope, it was about prostitution and sex! It was so well written, that I read it cover to cover though. ♥️
After tomorrow‘s overnights shift, I have 8 glorious days off. Well maybe not glorious, since I have a root canal and a medical procedure booked... but I‘m looking forward to recovering alongside my books. Hoping to dig in the tagged boon for my #brazil #foodandlit selection, and perhaps this delicious low carb Brazilian recipe 🤤https://pin.it/4GO4fOK
My second book of the year!
This book won‘t be for everyone, and I wasn‘t sure what I thought initially, but the story has stayed with me.
I think this is partially down to the research the author has done on the subject by talking to people in the profession, with the story being based mainly on “Maria‘s” story, and partly due to the writing style.
I would definitely read more of Paulo Coelho‘s work.
#FoodAndLit #Brazil #JumpStart2021
Spent today reading some of Eleven Minutes (I am enjoying it, but I am a bit disappointed that so little has been set in Brazil) and making my first Brazilian dish Feijoada with Farofa for #FoodAndLit
I was pleased with how this turned out and my partner and I both loved the Feijoada, but are a little unsure how we feel about the Farofa. I kind of liked it? 🤣

For #FoodAndLit this month we are discovering #Brazil
I wanted to read something by a Brazilian author, but also preferably that was set in Brazil itself, which is why I have picked Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho.
The dedication says “Some books make us dream, others bring us face to face with reality, but what matters most to the author is the honesty with which a book is written.” So it looks like I am in for an interesting read!
Cake and a good book is all that takes to make my evenings splendid.
Starting my second book for #JubliantJuly
Good afternoon! ! I really like to share my passion for books with who, like me, can not stay without reading! I wanted to start posting with a book by Paulo Coelho "Eleven Minutes".
I have four books by this author, including the well known "The Alchemist". I must say that both were very pleasant readings, but "Eleven Minutes" remains my favorite. Have you read any Coelho book? Do you like his books?
This book offered my first real insight into the world of prostitution and sex and my introduction to the author as well and it did not disappoint. I literally devoured this story. Masterfully written by a man with empathy towards his main character, who sees her for what she is, what she became and pens a cautionary tale reminding us that we can all be redeemed in the end, though we may seem lost.
Honestly I'm surprised at how much this book moved me. Coelho generally has a very linear writing style. But this book moved from the general philosophical style and talks in a more human and simple level. Beautiful and touching.
My favourite novel by Coelho. Amazing characters and as alway beautifully written
Paulo is a remarkable writer who has the God's gift to perceive and understand the feeling and thought process of a woman - her needs, her miseries, her judgements and above all, her desires.
Starring the book by, "Once upon a time there was a prostitute" and ending the book by justification of the start, Paulo very easily takes his readers to a journey of a woman's(rather prostitute's) sense of perceiving world and most importantly the men.

There was a time in my youth when I absolutely adored Coelho. Not very sure how I feel about him now, tho.
The strongest love is the love that can demonstrate it's fragility.
This is an exquisite book. Loving every bit of it. He‘s such a very gifted author who writes brilliantly in a women‘s voice- a rare feat in male authors, I find. #paulocoelho #coelho
This was just a little bit too much for me. I like weird books, but this was just weird in a way that I had a hard time really connecting to it and understanding it fully. This was just not for me.
I was soo into mystery thrillers that i never even considered any other genres, then i gave this book a try...this book had that thing which made me switch from crime scenes to real life truths.
'That is the true experience of freedom: having the most important thing in the world without owning it.'
Read: Sometime in 2017
Picked this gem up in one of my town‘s many LFL‘s when I was dropping off some of my nephew‘s books. Has anyone read this one yet? I‘d love to hear folks thoughts about it.
Really loved this book! I was honestly shocked that Paulo Coelho would write about sex with such detail, but he was able to do so without erotica coming into play. I loved the entire storyline, and his writing always pulls me in and keeps me hooked. Great book!
It hurt when I lost each of the various men I fell in love with. Now, though, I am convinced that no one loses anyone, because no one owns anyone.
I love this book so much I can't even explain.... #mustread in this life... #paulocoelho #elevenminutes
...the great aim of every human being is to understand the meaning of total love. Love is not to be found in someone else, but in ourselves: we simply awaken it. But in order to do that, we need the other person. The universe only makes sense when we have someone to share our feelings with.
#NovemberByTheNumbers for the 11th bought to you by the ever amazing Paulo Coelho!! I didn‘t love this one as much as I loved By The River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept or Veronika Decides to Die but always enjoy his work 😊😊😊😊 ... and it works perfectly for today!!

My eternal favourite❤️ The best of Paulo Coelhos I have read📚 It gives the reader a very deeper insight about life and reality. A big five star⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
P.S: Highly recommended😍
This is one of my top favorite novels.
It touches on love, and lust, the confusion of the two, human nature and a woman's worth; to herself and to the men surrounding her. This is a sad story, of could've beens.

Another Book Club Book and my first Paulo Coelho. Anyone read him in a language other than English? I loved what he had to say about relationships it just seemed like he was simplifying it too much. The female character was very basic which was disappointing. Will pass it on to my partner, Stewy to read regardless.
The beautifully woven story chronicles the journey of Maria, who understands love and sexuality through her experiences and failures and in the process rediscovers herself.
Never read any from his works but this seems okay to me. Maria perfectly represents what women can be nowadays: scared of commitments, highly craved for personal success.
My first Coelho, but wouldn't be the last one!
Setting Coelho aside because it's bloody hard to deal with book and chopsticks 😂
First Coelho #currentreading
With my midterms over, I decided to read the last 100 pages of this book in one sitting. I'd say this earns spot in my top 3 favourite Coelho books.
I'm really enjoying this Coelho book so far. If I didn't have all these midterms to deal with I would've finished it by now 😡
but something always went wrong, and the relationship would end precisely at the moment when she was sure that this was the person with whom she wanted to spend the rest of her life. After a long time, she came to the conclusion that men brought only pain, frustration, suffering and a sense of time dragging.
