Bk11 of #Scarathlon & Bk4 of #OutstandingOctober #readathon is done. Finished yesterday, the 4th ADOW book, it‘s more a sequel than in the trilogy. Marcus‘s story, it‘s set between now, with Phoebes transition to Vampire, & Revolutionary America when Marcus became a vampire. #31x31 #Falling4Books #Rushathon #Spookaween #AfterDarkBingo #BodyCountBingo #Witchathon #PromptMaze #ErasGhostBingo #BookspinBingo #SeriesLove2023 👇 #SpookyGhostClub 8241pts
Yeah, it's not quite the same as the original three, but I still loved getting to learn more about Marcus and seeing young vampire life through the years. #historicalfiction #fantasy #reread
It wasn‘t my favorite. It dragged for me. Kinda makes me sad because I really enjoyed the Discovery Of Witches
#AudioBackLog
Front yard flowers 💐
So, I am starting this one again. (Picking up where I left off). I am using this as my #AudioBackLog book for #BookSpinBingo.
Maybe the reason why I was/am not feeling it is because of the whole history thing. I am not huge into historical fiction-type books.
Bk2 of #JoysOfJune #readathon was finished a few days ago. Picked up another cold & have had a headache the last few days, screen light was a bit too harsh. This one was a reread of the companion book to the All Souls trilogy. The story of Marcus & Phoebe mostly, it tells of how he became a vampire & his struggles with it & of Phoebes rebirth as his mate & vampire. Really want a Gallowglass or Philippe & Ysabeau book! #BookspinBingo #SeriesLove2023
Bk2 of the End Of Summer(Winter) #20in4 #readathon is done. Finally! Read whilst #audioknitting it distracted me from the pain of having two molars ripped out this week. Fun times🦷 A companion novel to the All Souls trilogy, it‘s a threefold story told between two time periods. It‘s the tale of Phoebes transformation to vampire, Dianna, Mathew & the twins ongoing story & the tale of Marcus‘ rebirth during the American Revolution. #BookspinBingo
I wish Marcus and Phoebe's book had had them spend more time actually together, but I still loved this look into Marcus's past and the development of Harkness's vampire mythology! #fantasy #historicalfiction
I got an email from my alma mater, Moravian College, today, with this picture of the historic Brethren‘s House, which housed part of the music department and where I spent a lot of time. It reminded me of the scenes in the tagged book that take place in Bethlehem during the Revolutionary War, one of them in this intersection, and mention of this building specifically. Feeling very nostalgic.
I loved the All Souls trilogy but I've never read anything quite this self indulgent. Harkness obviously wanted to share her history knowledge and create something in the same world but Marcus is so one dimensional it was tedious to read. All the action is in flashbacks, so you know what happens or surmise that all will be well. And Phoebe just isn't interesting enough for me to care about. Really disappointing, I'm surprised I finished it.
So, I am not going to DNF this one, not yet, but I am going to just take it off my actively reading list and .. maybe retry it later? I just can't and I feel like it's just hanging there. I have 8 hours left!? ugh! I should just DNF but... I am wishy-washy about it
#DogsOfLitsy -- just because, I like having a pic :)
Still haven't picked this one back up. Seriously little to no desire to! But... I am enjoying the show a lot. I feel like it makes me want to visit all the fun places! New Orleans is on my #BucketList
I am having such a hard time getting through this. Its just not like the others. I am super tempted to DNF it but I have it as a background #AudioCommute. I did catch up on Season 3 Episode 3 of the show though.
Bk20 of #LittensDressedInBlood & Bk1 of October is finally done! I‘m sorry I‘ve been MIA but my baby girl was struggling a bit so I‘ve been staying with her longer than expected. I did manage to get in some spooky TV which will be in other post. This book I finished mostly by audio as it was easier. And I got a few hrs of another book done too before dnfing it for now. This one is a companion book to the All Souls trilogy. #Scarathlon2021 3,056pts👇
1. The tagged book, because a portion of it takes place during the Revolutionary War in Bethlehem, PA. It talks about a hospital for wounded soldiers. That was our music department study room while I was in college. I felt like I was there 😄
2. It doesn‘t really matter, but I find myself reading more books set in England or continental Europe than anywhere else.
#Two4Tuesday
The main part of the book was devoted to telling Marcus‘ history which I enjoyed. It also covered Pheobe‘s early days as a vampire and her struggles as she adjusted.
I felt like the parts focusing on Diana and Matthew didn‘t quite fit. Like those could have been a separate book leaving this one devoted to Marcus and Phoebe.
Was skeptical about continuing this series but so glad I did! Really started to dive into some characters pasts that I was always kind of wondering in the original series. Excited for the last one!

A book that‘s connected to the All Souls Trilogy, it‘s about Marcus & Phoebe mostly.

1. Tagged book is a book I hugely enjoyed, set across the American Civil War and the French Revolution.
2. I really liked What we do in the shadows! The TV show got boring very quickly though, the gags really don't land after a while.
3. I would recommend the tagged book, and Deborah Harkness' Discovery of witches series.
The photo is me outside Bram Stoker's house in Chelsea, pretending to be terrified!!
While I did enjoy this one, I didn't enjoy it as much as the trilogy.
I was happy to learn more about Marcus, but for me it was the magic and the science bits that I loved in the first books, and this was lacking in this new addition.
Another book marked off for #BookSpinBingo! @TheAromaofBooks
This was pretty good but nowhere near as good as the rest of the series. It just kind of. Ended randomly in my opinion. Still, glad I finished the series! #readathon
#readathon I‘m liking this book mostly, although the two timelines are a little too disparate for my taste.
I usually love dual time books. Do you??
I‘ve been away from reading and Litsy for a bit, but so happy to have finally found my way back. Really enjoying this audiobook - a continuation of one of my favorite series.
Who else found it hard to concentrate on books in a pandemic? Lol. I don‘t know why... anxiety....fidgety - ness... etc.
But I‘m back, lovelies!
Phoebe wants to be changed into a vampire but the 90 day wait to get back to Marcus is challenging. I still like vampires that glitter gold in the sun but these books are fun. Good historical story mixed in. It‘s vampire reading season!🧛♂️🧛♀️
"Rules may teach you how to be obedient, but they're no real protection against the world."
At last I finished the series. ✊
For fans of the All Souls trilogy, this continues the story of Matthew & Diana & Phoebe. It‘s really about Marcus, his history, & his struggle with regrets & past choices. I liked this story, but not much happens, & it‘s not as good as the trilogy.
Ms Harkness puts her considerable talents to use in this, the 4th book in her All Souls series. She gives us Marcus McNeil‘s back story taking place, largely, during the American and French Revolutions. Marcus, the vampiric son of Matthew Clairmont, is a healer. Fun story.
I missed Diana Bishop, who does not play a central, although the twins are coming into their powers in interesting ways. Not as great as the early books, but worth a read.
Need a fiction break from all this heavy reading for the night. Escaping into some romance!
Alright. So. I liked this one a lot more than Book of Life, mostly because I love Marcus. I have lots of issues with it though, mainly the telling-not-showing writing fails, the sheer amount of characters, and the sometimes out-of-character actions of longtime staples, but I liked it. It was a different perspective from the other three books (finally!) and had the past-narrative that I loved about the second book. A solid 3/5
#quaranreads
Here‘s to hoping this doesn‘t ruin Marcus for me! 🤞🏼🤞🏼
#quaranreads
Fun follow up. I didn‘t quite pack the punch of the original All Souls Trilogy, but fun nonetheless.
Rating: 10/5 stars.
My rating scale isn't broken, it's just this book was amazing. We have learned Diana's and Matthew's story and kept hearing about Marcus'....well, here you go. Pick this up and read because it will knock the air out of your body.
Thank you so much for the lovely #basicwitchswap goodies @AriThomas !!!!
Thank you @Meaw_catlady and @sprainedbrain for hosting!!!
I finished in time for seeing Deborah Harkness. I enjoyed reading about Marcus and Phoebe, but Diana and Matthew still have my heart. I liked the way you got both stories.
"No." Veronique snatched them away. "No matter where I say it - in bed, or my tavern, or in my city - you respect it as my final word, Marcus."
My afternoon - tea, Time's Convert and a KitKat Krispy Kreme. Perfect since it's chucking it down outside. 🌧🌧🌧
Didn‘t like as much as the first series. I will probably still read the rest, because I occasionally feel the need for light and fluffy vampires 😁😁
Decided to start this one finally after staring at it for a while lol. I have so many books going at the same time right now. I feel like I shouldn't have so many books started but I do like having the option to choose which world I want to live in for a little while. #DeborahHarkness #AllSouls #ADiscoveryofWitches #TimesConvert
Finished Book of Life today. I loved these books! I‘m so glad I can continue with Marcus‘s story.
