Spent a few days at the shore. Came upon a silent book club on the beach, watched the moon rise over the ocean, read a few good books and visited my favorite vacation indie Thunder Road Books. Lovely. #summerreading

Last month of beachy summer titles. Can‘t believe it‘s almost August! But there‘s more sun to soak up! 😎⛱️🌻#BookSpinBingo
I seem to be working my way through several Jenny Colgan series, and on top of that I haven‘t read the books within each series in order. This is Book2 and I‘d read Books 1&4. I wasn‘t expecting to be gutted by this one, but Ms Colgan brought me to tears several times. So yea, I need Book 3 soon.
I am reading this series HORRIFICALLY out of order, but God if Jenny Colgan's magic doesn't work all the same. Her characters always feel so real and the settings are always so cozy. And there were narwhals in this one! #contemporaryfiction #womensfiction

4.5 hours in! Finished the tagged book; going for a another #bookspinbingo before the end of the month. I feel a personal record coming on for #24B4Monday. I‘d like to finish two more books. My FIL went home last week, and the sad stress that has been so omnipresent has lifted, so it‘s been lovely to read without pressure.
This book is #2 in the Mure series. I liked it and will read the next one, but didn‘t enjoy it quite as much as the first one (The Café by the Sea).

Jenny Colgan and fish curry on this wretchedly cold day. 12 is an unacceptable temperature for late May.
I‘d NEVER make it on Mure, the northern Scottish island where THE ENDLESS BEACH takes place. Then again, they probably get warmer winters than we do here, just like Iceland does. I could handle it in the winter because it‘d still be better than what I left behind.
Good. Even though at times the writing was awful and the characters got on my nerves, it deals with some serious issues and at the end is a charming little story. Not one of her best.

Oof, this one got me right in the feels. This isn‘t an easy, happy read; it is tough and heartbreaking but oh so good. I loved visiting Mure again and spending time with these characters, warts and all. Even through my tears, this is one of my favorites of Colgan‘s. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another easy summer read. I love these characters. I hope the Mure stories continue.
There are too many mosquitoes outside this summer due to all the rains. I think I‘m going to have to read by my window more instead of outside!

I always love a good Jenny Colgan book and this one ranks right up there with the best of hers!
Currently spending this Sunday morning studying. With the occasional reading break.
What an appropriate book to be reading when I need a coat and scarf to go to work. 😂❄☔⛱
The 2nd in the Cafe by the Sea trilogy, I'm finding to be a cosy a read as the first one. Her Bookshop on the Corner is still my favorite though.
The hard part of audio/digital books is a lack of strategic placement for pics.
Anyhoo, I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of this book. It's not to say the first was shallow or anything, this book just hit on a lot of cultural points that many others in this genre avoid. I do object with a couple aspects (spoiler commented below). Even so, it was still a good read.
So good. I didn't expect it to be so emotional. I teared up a few times toward the end.
This loyalty card is one that I would definitely keep. ☕🥐
Work has out done itself today, I tell ya. To combat it, I will treat my ears to some coziness. I'm such a sucker for UK accents, my word.
Although... when they drop into their interpretation of American accents, it's cringey as all get out. Mostly the NY ones, which this series is full of so maybe I'm just compounding Monday's misery? 😅
Seriously though, as someone from the PNW, our friends across the sea make us all sound SO obnoxious.
Just finished this book and really liked it! Although I got a bit exasperated at times by the two "main" characters, the story was excellent and issues were resolved. Check it out!!
Getting my reading in for Australian Reading Hour
Ended up finishing the book. Loved that whilst it is a gentle read it is also a book that respectfully deals with several serious issues
It's been a weird-ish vacation, but still sad it's almost over. One last to finish up, though.
Sunday afternoon
Reading and eating Raspberry Roulade with a cream cheese filling. #lifeisgood #baking
A sweet sequel to The Cafe By the Sea (definitely read that one first). Jenny Colgan writes good heartwarming, food focused, feel good novels. This one picks up shortly after the & divides the focus between relationship growing pains for Flora & stories for some of the key secondary characters. It will be a good transition to the third book, coming out for Christmas. And there's a narwhal, lots of cheese & baked goods--never a bad thing. 😉📚💙
No Wednesday coffee shop breakfast photos with my new job & commute, but I was extra early today & stopped by a little mom & pop place on my way from parking for fried rice with an egg on top to go. I managed a chapter of my current library read with breakfast before anyone else got here.😋#simplepleasures
Another great story from Jenny Colgan. I found it is not a beach trip or Christmas vacation without her books.
I adore Jenny Colgan and I really liked the first book in this series, so looking forward to this one a lot.
A bit rainy to sit outside this Saturday morning but I'm happy to be in my neighborhood coffeeshop enjoying a deviled avocado with jalapeño breadfruit hummus, a dirty almond milk chai latte & a library e-book, when I fully expected to be home bailing out water. We dodged a bullet with hurricane, now tropical storm Lane though Maui & especially the Big Island (places had 45-inches of rain) ?got hit hard. Running errands before our rains get heavy.
Just finished listening to tagged book. Nice story, good narrator - except for the American male characters, and the children .... Ugh! But I‘ll still give it 4⭐️‘s
Gorgeous #summerreading ☀️
Finally the temperatures have dropped back to endurable & pleasant & I‘m having my coffee outside with my #newBook 😎📚☕️

Heartwarming sequel. Love Jenny Colgan!
I didn‘t know there‘s a new Jenny Colgan! Yay! #jennycolgan
It was okay I think I would need to read previous book
The Summer Seaside Kitchen aka The Cafe by the Sea.
Didn't know this was a Second book of Mure Island
The 3rd book comes out in October 2018.
Christmas on the Island aka An Island Christmas
I loved how the story and characters develop from the summer seaside kitchen. At times the story is very clichéd but it doesn‘t detract from a well written romantic novel. I really hope to read more about flora and her exploits in future!
Great summer read. It is a follow up book to Cafe by the Sea but it can also be enjoyed as a stand alone. I enjoyed the characters and their storylines as well as how they all connected.
Current status: inhaling all the Jenny Colgan books. They are so lovely and, on this midsummer night, all I want is to be walking the Endless on Mure.

Perfect night for a walk and audiobook!

I‘m really liking this book so far. Better than Cafe by the Sea!
Starting this one but forgot what happened in the first book. Hopefully her intro note will jog my memory.
Thank you so much @cobwebmoth 😊👏
This goody box was such a great lift to my day!! You were so considerate with your choices. I‘m going to be taking almost all of these on vacation with me when I go!
Thanks also to @MattieHoffman for helping me stage my pic!

Have you read this book or any of Jenny Colgan‘s books?
#ReadingResolutions #SappySaturday ?
Yes, Jenny Colgan's book lean to the sweet and sappy side of things, but I love them for that and for the break they give me from heavier books. I'm looking forward to this one--releasing later this month and I'm happy it's a follow up of last year's "The Cafe By the Sea." ?
Well I have my summer read! Thanks Goodreads Giveaways and #WilliamMorrow!
