First read of the year, and it was fine. I appreciated the setting and the various types of magic, but it felt very similar to books like the Red Queen series but not as good. Easy read and enjoyable enough that I‘m reading the second to see how it ends. 6/10

I am properly offended by the manipulative wicked character. I want to wack him with a baseball bat. But no. I instead have to find the next book. Because I have an affinity for bad men. What the hell…. 😩

Last book during #20in4 Readathon (only last 217 pages). YA fantasy t takes time to read, no translation or glossary to explain some foreign words😐Sometimes confuse but interesting. A world full of lies and betrayals. It is not what you think is happening. The kingdoms are in war, divided in those who believe in the power of saints and those who believe only in magic. The end is an unexpected twist. I‘m interesting in book 2. 3/3.4⭐️

Very invested in the beginning, set up for an interesting storyline and character abilities but then became confusing towards the end. Powers and story actions were left unexplained and began to feel rushed, even character interactions. Might pick up the remainder of the series one day just to finish it out but not all that interested in continuing for now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Wicked Saints” is dark, bloody, and full of magic. It gave me minor “Throne of Glass” vibes and the plot moved relatively quickly with some interesting twists. I initially enjoyed the romance but it felt a tad rushed towards the end, however I am intrigued in how the relationship continues given the latest development. I look forward to the future character development!

I saw this on bookstagram and thought it looked fun.

I would be in Tranavia from Wicked Saints, which would be pretty scary with blood magic and vultures. If I'm a Kalyazi then I'm in enemy territory. If I'm a Tranavian, then I'm amidst a cut-throat dangerous society after blood mages.

Where would you be?

julesG The last book I finished was a Julia Quinn Regency romance. Apart from the dresses, I'd probably enjoy a year then and there. It could be worse, I guess. 4y
Twainy Infinite 2 by Jeremy Robinson ... in the Great Escape ... VirtualReality ... in a library with millions of books where I can live inside any book for a day or a lifetime. 😁👍🏼 4y
MeganAnn I‘m in the Grishaverse.... more specifically Ravka and hopefully I‘m a Grisha with magical powers so I can help Alina fight the Darkling. I think I‘d be a Fabrikator. Although it might be much safer to be a peasant or noble without magic 😬 Finished Book 2 Siege and Storm recently and am currently reading Book 3 4y

I really enjoyed this dark fantasy which has a darker different take on Gods and saints and it's citizens being beholden to the Gods as opposed to having the freedom to choose their own path which has literally caused a war.

This dark fantasy felt original and it was a quick enjoyable read. There is a sprinkling of romance added in, but very minimal. I'm looking forward to reading Ruthless Gods.

BethM So good! I need to move book 2 up my pile! 4y

Really enjoyed the audiobook. I think it has similar elements to the Grisha verse series. The book really shows the struggles we have between loving someone who has vastly different beliefs than we do. I really loved this book.

This was a very slow, halting start for me, but once it picked up about half way through, I devoured the rest of it in one sitting. Not to ruin anything- but I was very happy about the ending- I felt like a certain someone was losing his “edge.” The world Duncan has created is unusual and I‘d like to learn more about it- I‘m excited to read the next installment.

I have always been a sucker for mythology. Duncan's story weave a fresh take on mythology and the ideas of Gods with their hands twisting and manipulating the people below them. I really enjoyed the world within this book. So happy this is part of a series and I will get to see this story unfolds some more.

A good read, but not as good as I expected. Plot movement is pretty steady & there is fairly continuous action. Primary characters are well written, but secondary characters are somewhat flat. The writing itself is above average & read smoothly. The tension built really well, but that darned ending! Despite the action & twists, I felt meh. I am still interested in the remainder of the trilogy as I want to see where the unfinished pieces will go.

I want to be honest I did like the book but I though it could‘ve be shorter. The characters were well written, I though it was kind of gothic. A battle between the divine and blood mages. War between two counties. However I don‘t like the back and forth between two characters but over it was a good book
