Day 6: While many books have made me cry, these four broke my heart. I‘ve reread each many times (I use Splendid Suns, The Road, and Harold Fry in my classes) and they still make me cry. Powerful writing that explores the human condition and the power of connections, whether it is set in a war torn country, a postapocalyptic world, a Parisian flat, or an English roadside, will always touch our minds and souls.

I only read for 3 hrs. last mo. I've started this post in my head so many times, but couldn't bring myself to get the words out here...but I'm ready to fill in my Litsy family about why I've been away. On Aug. 5th I had to have my partner/boyfriend of 7&1/2 years rushed to the hospital. He had a huge blood clot that cut off his oxygen and unfortunately his brain was too severely damaged, and we had to make the hard decision to let him go. 💔👇🏼
I have to put my phone away. I can't fight trolls and I can't reason with bigots on FB and Twitter. Thank you Litsy for understanding how I feel. I know y'all are probably feeling very similar. I love you all and I can't thank you enough for being a safe space for me. I'm going to read, watch tennis, cuddle with my cat, and hope when I wake something good has happened. #resist ✊🏼
I don't know if it's the fact that it's Christmas, which was his FAVORITE time of year, or seeing everyone's photos of their pets, but I am having one of THOSE days. It will be a year in February but it still hurts like it was yesterday. Quick, someone tell me a joke. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
