Small but mighty! A book that everyone should read at some point in their lives!

This is a very short book, so I was able to finish listening in a few hours. I read the physical book several years ago and listening to it now had the same effect as then. I cried, I was angry and I was frustrated. What‘s going on in Israel and the West Bank is not much different (in my opinion) than what happened back then. The government of Israel is using a different means with the same goal. Extermination. #ceasefirenow

Due to the horrific monstrosities occurring in Gaza, this book has been on my mind. 😔

Let me tell you.. nothing like doing a 20km run while listening to "Night" by Elie Wiesel to put things in perspective. Suddenly that knee pain, the heavy load, and the 100-degree weather feel insignificant.

Although I have more books to choose from for my fiction bracket, I thought this would be fun too — but choosing between ‘The Diary of a Young Girl‘ and ‘Night‘ was extremely difficult. #2023readingbracket

Going for audiobook, ready to be touched!

I re-read this with my teens. Such a powerful read. The horrors in this book still render me speechless, even though I know they are coming. How could a human do these acts to another? The greatest takeaway message for me was the authors hope in humanity, and tireless acts to improve the world, despite what he went through. He didn‘t give up, and wanted us to love one another. So powerful

Is there anything to say about this book that hasn‘t been said? An anguished, loving, beautiful tribute to the immense strength of people who resisted, endured, or died in the Nazi holocaust. Wiesel was a teen when his Jewish family in rural Romania was sent to Auschwitz after months of rumors and occupation: he remained completely dedicated to sustaining his elderly father with himself.

Wow! I finished this last night, but had to take a minute before I read it. So glad @rachelk put me on to it.

I think everyone should read this book. Just to witness from someone who was there, is unbelievable. I cried. To think people can be so cruel. I pray nothing like the Holocaust never happens again. But, when we don't learn from history, it is bound to repeat itself.

Nothing I‘ve ever come across helped me understand the horror of a Nazi death camp like this short autobiography. It is incredibly powerful and important.

This is a tough book. It is also a necessary book. I used a personal connection with my own students to help them understand that this is still affecting people in so many ways. (I have ancestors I can‘t trace too far because the church where our records were kept was ordered to be burned down.) We shall never forget, and we MUST never forget. #RoryGilmoreChallenge

One of my favorite books I read in high school. It has stuck with me all these years. Absolutely heart-breaking is Elie‘s story and I‘m grateful he shared it. 💙

Night was awarded the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize. It is the memoir of Elie Wiesel who as a teenager was taken from his home to a concentration camp during the Holocaust. I read this moving account about fifteen years ago. Just over 100 pages, I recommend it to everyone. #TeamSlaughter #scarathlon

My daughter taking a class in Holocaust Literature so after she was finished with it. I picked it up. I'm numb with emotions and in a book hangover from this true story of a survivor who was only around 15 at the time. Been awhile since a book has made me cry. "Human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere"~ Elie Wiesel. ☆☆☆☆☆

I hear that this is really good! But for some reason, I still haven‘t read it.

This book has been on my TBR for too long.

I finally read this classic testimony of the horrors Elie Wiesel had experienced in the camps. Brutally honest, it's a very moving account that should be on everyone's reading list. He describes first the denial of his Jewish community when told about the dangers they would soon face, then he describes with a candid honesty how people did their best to survive.

I'm not scared of ghosts, monsters, or anything else that falls under the same category.
I'm terrified of PEOPLE!
I believe people are the ones we should fear. The ones capable of the most outrageous crimes. That's why I chose this book as my Scariest Book for the #horrorlitchallenge @horrorprompts Day 4.
It's not a horror book, it's the Fact that it's a NON FICTION book, which makes it super scary. A true HORROR.

This was a hard book to listen to (I did the audio)but the true story that it told was amazing.I‘ve read many books about WW2 and the holocaust, but this is the first non-fiction.It was written by a survivor who experienced the atrocities as a child.It hit home every time I realized that what he was describing really happened to him.I enjoyed the authors add on.I think he was a hero, and understand why this book won a Pulitzer Prize

1) Night by Elie Weisel had a profound impact on me when I read it in high school - I hope it's still in the curriculum!

2) Not as an all-out bash, but I'm baking Irish Soda Bread today and we will make bangers & mash for dinner on Thursday along with a Guinness. I listen to Celtic Rock all year!

I‘m doing a buddy read of the Night Trilogy with my daughter. We just finished Night; if you haven‘t read it, you should. I‘d forgotten exactly how heartbreaking and powerful it is. The Holocaust will always be beyond my understanding. Tonight, we begin Dawn. Continued with Iron Lake on today‘s walk and I‘m enjoying it. #audiowalk

My daughter and I have started a buddy read of Wiesel‘s Night trilogy. It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read them, and she‘s only read Night.

What are you reading, watching, listening to for International Holocaust Remembrance Day? What are you going to do in this coming year to combat antisemitism? Let Auschwitz remind you to never stay silent. Holocaust Remembrance Day isn‘t only about remembering those 6 million Jews, 6 million souls but to also honour the ones that survived. Today I honour my grandparents and remember the 11+ souls of my lost family members.

Post 4 /4. My first read of the new year...was the most depressing book I've ever read. This first hand perspective of Auschwitz is a unique one. Wiesel packs years of horror, history, and his own personal development into a little over 100 pages, telling his story in a blunt, brutal, but eloquent way. An important book everyone should read.

We all know this book. Many folks, like I, have read it more than once as a reminder, as a promise to never forget. To never close our eyes to the evil that men do. To deeply mine the crevices of our thoughts in search of the fears and painful realities that haunt us. To watch the idle hands of men for the prospect of unkindness and savage behaviour. The romances got me through days where I wasn‘t concentrating on what I was reading/hearing. I do not know why I waited so long to read Night. Maybe reading WWII Fiction instead protected my heart a little bit. It is impossible for me to imagine what Elie experienced and I struggle to comprehend that the world allowed this to happen. I just know we can never let it happen again and I truly believe we were on that path no so long ago

Just going to read a few pages before bed … I should know better. Now I am invested and want to keep reading. I can‘t believe I haven‘t read this before now‘ thanks @ShelleyBooksie for leading me this. Although I blame you for the no sleep tonight! #readingpastmybestime
