I‘ve read a lot of her poems over the years & have been meaning to read an entire collection for ages. In the past I always found her work very hit or miss, but I was able to appreciate it more as a whole. This still isn‘t my favorite poetry style, but when the pieces do speak to you personally they can be especially gut wrenching or cathartic. And she really is one of the voices that launched this style, which is such an impressive legacy!
2024 is the year I will embrace poetry more. This collection is making me sad I didn't do it sooner! So many of these resonated for me. I have already ordered the rest of her books! #poetrymatters2024
@TheAromaOfBooks The tagged book got me a #BookSpinBingo, also finished my January #DoubleSpin: Westlake's Cops and Robbers🎉 Too bad I couldn't also finish the #BookSpin, I won't even try though, I need to catch up with Uncle Tom's Cabin, I'm way behind.
@PuddleJumper Very happy I got all #Roll100 picks for January: Zombie by Joyce Carol Oates, Strange Attractors stories by Jaine Fenn and another Longmire story: Hell is Empty by Craig Johnson💯
Not my favorite book, yet it lingers on in your mind. Rupi Kaur has power in her words. So much so, that the poems of pain will rip you apart. This is a woman‘s book, yet there are poems I would like to place in front of all men. Well worth a read, but so intense you‘ll need to take breaks…I chose a lighter book to read afterwards.
This is such an inspirational book. The poems and chapters form a loose link but definitely flow together to tell a story. There is sorrow, joy, wisdom, and so much more. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A hard read for me as it hit close to home, but well worth reading
I began reading this today. I do enjoy a good poetry book.
Managed to read both my #BookSpin books and also got some Bingos at the #BookSpinBingo - can't wait for the new round 😁
@TheAromaOfBooks (sending hugs)
Wow, these poems are mighty. Mighty and powerful. Rupi Kaur's poems come straight from her hurting heart, directly from her soul. You can feel her pain, her suffering. But you can also see her growing, becoming stronger, completing herself. Her topics are the essential ones: culture, society, being female in a men's world. And through all of this pain she always comes back to the most important one: love.

My #BookSpinBingo for July. For once I'm counting one book twice. In Praise Of Shadows is the only one left to fit the category “Canva“. Light Blue are our #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin numbers. The Light Purple ones are books I'm planning to read, so I might get a Bingo this month as well 😄
@TheAromaofBooks
Here are my #BookSpin and my #DoubleSpin for July.
The Sund And Her Flowers has been waiting for me at work, so I can finally take it home with me. The second one I've wanted to read for some time now and already started it this morning.
@TheAromaofBooks
I‘ve been reading and watching a lot of feminist literature and television lately, and it‘s made me tune in to how grateful I am to all the women who came before me, and all the work they did so I can enjoy what freedoms I do have, and it‘s made me look for ways to get involved in the struggle for the many freedoms we still didn‘t. #gratitude @Eggs
“i hardened under the last loss. it took something human out of me. i used to be so deeply emotional i'd crumble on demand. but now the water has made its exit. of course i care about the ones around me. i'm just struggling to show it. a wall is getting in the way. i used to dream of being so strong nothing could shake me. now. i am. so strong. that nothing shakes me. and all i dream is to soften.”

as I didn't enjoy that much "milk and honey" from the same author, I could have expected the same from this one.
after those books I assume poetry isn't my thing ?
⭐️⭐️
Very moving & relatable. Poetry usually goes over my head, I just don't connect to it, but this collection was very accessable for me.
Didn‘t realize I had it on my shelf and haven‘t read it yet.
Hello Litsy family 💕
I've had a very difficult morning.
Weathering some sadness again.
(You can tell when I'm having a tough time because I start expressing myself through the medium of Rupi Kaur 🥲)
Please send virtual hugs. I need them right now! 💙

Now is not the time to be quiet or make room for you when we have had no room at all. Now is our time to be mouthy get as loud as we need to be heard

I‘m going old school kinda feminist poetry for my potential picks (partially based on really liking the covers). Anyone have thoughts on any of these?

I don't read Ebooks very often it hurts my eyes too much but I had been wanting to read more of RUPI Kaur books.
She is a brilliant author and I think she writes from the soul which connects with me completely.
If she hurts she doesn't sugar coat it, if she enjoys something she says so.
I admire her pure honesty in everything and she thinks the way I do.

Pretty wallpaper 😍🌻📖 had to share with you all
Wish pure happiness and soft peace
Upon the ones
Who've been unkind to you
And keep moving forward.
I think we are all working on letting go and forgiving other's it's not easy but with time and growth it can be done.
If it wasn't what we left behind
That breaks me
It's what we could've built
Had we stayed.
I don't read Ebooks very much because my eyes just don't like them or I get travel sickness on the bus trying to read this one I'd short and sweet poem's.

A simplistic, but powerful collection of poems. I‘m only just getting into poetry, so for a beginner like me, this collection was perfect. I think it helped that there are sections in this book that are resonating at this point in my life. Even though her words are accessible, doesn‘t make her work any less poetic.
4/5⭐️
Nothin says lovin like a book of poetry! Thanks for this swap @persephone1408 #poetryswap2021
lately I‘m reading a lot of poetry! My last buy is this one, the only book that I haven‘t read by Rupi Kaur. Her poetry is always so powerful and very touching.
5⭐️ rich and powerful. Her poetry always packs such a punch. So much that I can relate with, other parts help me to understand.
#flowers #curiouscovers @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
#poetryswap @Cathythoughts @Chrissyreadit @TheBookHippie I know I haven't been very useful on my form, but any contemporary poets would be great! I've moved a lot of the poetry books I've stacked over the years towards the top of the list, so hopefully that will help too!
Also, chocolate might not be a good idea (eating too much at the mo!), so bookmarks/bullet journal stuff may be better!
The sun and her flowers is about overall healing and is divided into five sections on getting there. The book is about loss and then eventually blooming. The genre of the book is poetry. The reason I picked this book is because for as long as I can remember now I‘ve enjoyed reading poetry. The author is the main character in her book and talks about her healing journey.
I am so thankful for all my mother did for me, even if it meant leaving her country
This book is collection of poems. Some of them are really well-written like they have impact on you. But at one point it seems a little boring. the only thing I like about the book is some great poems in it.
