Delightful! You won‘t soon forget the main character-Molly. Her inability to see evil drives the plot. You will enjoy- I sure did.

I enjoyed this mix of murder mystery and feel-good up-lit. It has Eleanor Oliohant vibes with a socially awkward protagonist, but I found her annoying at times and the tone a little sentimental or almost condescending (to her) and she‘s portrayed as quite clueless. But overall an engaging feel-good story, the uplit part works better than the whodunnit given we know the culprits early on (notwithstanding the late twist). Love a matching bookmark!

As a mystery, this book is okay. As 280+ pages with Molly the maid, it is absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed seeing the world through Molly‘s eyes and thought that she was a wonderfully entertaining character, more than enough reason to keep reading to the end. She‘s also all the reason I need to read the sequel as well. Found family, murder, mystery, and a great cast of characters make for an enjoyable read.

Finished this morning ahead of Wednesday book club meeting. Endearing MC, interesting story even if it tied up a bit too neatly. Though there was a sequel published recently, I‘m content to let the story sit where it is.

As you see, I have plenty of #serieslove2024 and this is just the mysteries! It doesn‘t even include three books coming out this year that don‘t have covers yet.

Center square is also on my #readorbail list so it will be first.

Andrew65 Some wonderful series you are reading. 3mo

3️⃣ I saw this was recommended on Goodreads so giving it a go. Update - A good mystery and I liked Molly, but I felt the ending was a bit of a let down, and didn‘t live up to the other twists in the story. I would still read more by this author though.

I enjoyed this cozy mystery featuring Molly the Maid. It was fun and charming with great characters. I liked all the twists and turns, though I have to admit that some of the surprises revealed at the end made the story a bit implausible.

I chose this book for the “published in 2022“ prompt of #CloakAndDaggerChristmas, though I didn't quite finish by Dec. 25.. @Ruthiella

Oh how I loved this book! It‘s wonderful to see a main character who I would say is on the spectrum and who struggles socially. I could relate to her in some ways. It was a good mystery too. I just really enjoyed the writing and storytelling! Florence Pugh is set to star in the film adaptation I believe. I can‘t wait until it‘s brought to the big screen! Just read this book; you will fall in love with Molly the Maid!

Fun and quirky murder mystery in a boutique hotel and starring a neurodivergent maid. I didn‘t expect the final twist to the story, which is good- but also thought the MC was possibly a bit cliche. Still was an enjoyable way to audiopuzzle away the afternoon.

I had mixed feelings about this one.
I liked that the author had written as someone Neurodiverse, however, it was like she had Googled autism traits and made the main character have every single one.
I didn't see the twist coming at the end. I'd say this was a firm 3 ⭐️

There is so much wrong with this book.

The neurodiversity rep is irresponsible and, frankly, a bit insulting. Molly the Maid doesn't feel like an actual person so much as a bunch of autistic clichés cobbled together with a dose of excessive perkiness.

There was a murder mystery buried somewhere, but we aren't really given any reason to care about it.

Irritating.

RaeLovesToRead @CSeydel I felt that the character of Molly was infantilised a bit, and her portrayal wasn't always consistent. I can see why people are annoyed about it. I can also see why people would enjoy it as a heartwarming novel about friendship too, I guess. Didn't work for me though 😔 7mo

This was an interesting read with a twist or two along the way. The plot is a steady burn to an ending you could see coming but was so cleverly executed. Molly isnt the most likeable character to begin with but as you learn her story, you do start to feel for her and by the end I really liked her. The mystery itself was good though I had just about figured it out. A great mystery though. 3*

This was an enjoyable and entertaining listen. I cringed for Molly through many events in the first half and agree with some reviewers that the second half went a bit too quickly. I appreciated the found family aspect. I‘m still a bit torn on the epilogue, but the story kept me intrigued.

This book had more twists in it than I was expecting. I liked Molly and kept getting angry at the people taking advantage of her naivety, but she turned out much smarter than she seemed. I wasn't expecting there to be a found family aspect to it. I look forward to the next book. Lauren Ambrose was a great narrator.

I requested this audiobook on Libby and last time I checked, it had a wait of several months so I was surprised to see it was available for me to listen to. Looking forward to listening to this story of a hotel maid who finds a wealthy guest dead one day. Her differences make her targeted police as the main suspect. But unexpected friends unite with her to untangle the clues and find the murderer.

I enjoyed this quirky mystery, but have nothing to rave about.

Molly is a maid at a luxury boutique hotel. She has trouble understanding basic social cues and emotions, which sometimes leads to miscommunication and awkward encounters. But nothing compares to the day she finds the hotel's wealthiest guest dead. She is soon the main suspect and must rely on her friends at the hotel for help. But not everyone is as they seem to Molly!

Book club meets in just a few hours so I barely finished this one on time! But it‘s a fast read and one that I am looking forward to discussing! Molly, the titular maid, has been struggling in the months after the grandmother who raised her died. But she truly has a passion for her role at the Grand Regency hotel. But when she finds a dead body, Molly soon learns who her real friends are. It made my heart hurt at times & the plot holds surprises!

TiredLibrarian I read this one for a book group too, and we had a really good discussion about it! 10mo
TorieStorieS @TiredLibrarian We definitely did, too! Kind of a mixed reaction overall— a few people really disliked it and some enjoyed it much more! I hear that a sequel is coming out in January! 10mo

The literary equivalent of Olive Garden (which is name dropped in this book, unsurprisingly): blandly, reliably enjoyable, but there are so many better options out there for literally anything you like in this book. This isn‘t a murder mystery so much as a story of awkward, perky Molly learning the True Meaning of Friendship. If the book isn‘t offensive, it is simply corny, lazy, and tone deaf.

I was surprised and charmed by Molly and her story. Molly likes things orderly and clean. She is an exceptional maid at the Regency Grand, but the day she discovers a body in a guest room she has a problem too big to clean up by herself. Molly‘s demeanor makes her a prime murder suspect, but she soon learns she has friends ready to help. I loved Molly‘s emotional journey and the ending twist. A mystery with ❤️ that deserves 4+ ⭐️s.

I‘ve got to stop reading best sellers because they haven‘t been working for me. The book was okay. Plot was engaging but some of the cleaning scenes and the hyper focus on Molly‘s differences was over done. And, the twist at the end was a little overrated in my opinion. With that said, the actual main character, Molly, warmed my heart. She was so well written. I also enjoyed how the “good” characters won in the end.

⭐️⭐️ It‘s implied that Molly, a meticulous maid in an upscale hotel, is neurodivergent, but the character‘s traits and behaviors are very inconsistent. Many reviewers have taken major offense to this, and I absolutely get it, but I also don‘t hold every novel accountable for complete accuracy. That said, the mystery just wasn‘t interesting. I should‘ve known that if @ferskner wasn‘t a fan, I should skip.

This was a rly engaging, quick book. I did enjoy the character‘s voice, and the story overall kept me interested for sure. I had a good time listening to it, with some caveats. Molly is a smart and likable, even if inconsistent, depiction of a neurodivergent protagonist. I appreciate the representation, but feel like it wasn‘t necessarily done well. The other thing is that too much happened too fast towards the end. It felt a bit unbalanced. Still

Wow. Did not expect this to come together the way it did. It reminded me almost of something similar to Knives Out where there are plenty of people in the whodunnit with motive and the pieces have to be fully put together before you get the real answers. Such a quirky fun cast of characters. I so hope this is made into a movie. I really loved this book!
