It is 2024, and Keith Richards is about to be sworn in as the next president of the United States. President-Elect Richards, a member of the new Republican Tea Party, is intent on spreading a new message of hope between the warring parties now in power. The public is thrilled. His party is irate. Just as he takes his oath and America begins to celebrate, shots ring out. Seconds later, the new president is dead, and the vice president elect is now the president. David Schultz, a right wing extremist and hated rival of Keith Richards becomes his running mate after a hotly contested Republican Tea Party convention the previous summer. Minutes after confirmation that Richards is dead, Schultz declares himself the new President. Meanwhile, Schultz's brother-in-law and ex-Navy Seal, Herb Farnsworth begins to suspect Schultz's involvement in the assassination. In this fast-paced political thriller, an ex-Navy Seal and his team must stop a political conspiracy and one powerful man's evil plan before the world is changed forever with the push of a button.

Finally got my 2024 books read up to date 🥵 Need to be more systematic with it this year.

240 books read, which is a whopping 88 books less than the previous year. Shows the type of year 2024 was, let‘s hope 2025 is a better year.

Spotting for a more conservative 225 books in 2025 as want to get to some of my bigger books.

#ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses

Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Yet strangely, I‘m disappointed in the year. 8h
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. 🥂 Cheers to a brand new year! 7h

Ruthiella 240 is not too shabby! But for sure the environment and our state of mind while we read is also key to our overall enjoyment, IMO. So here‘s hoping 2025 is better for you. 7h

#ReadAway2024

2024 was an excellent reading year, even though I didn‘t reach my final GR/SG goals. I read a lot off of my physical shelves & purged/traded a bunch that I‘ll never actually get to. Audiobooks have been a godsend for both audio cleaning purposes & pain flare up times. 🥂to 2025!

Ruthiella Nice work! 👍 9h

My annual ranking of all the books I read in 2024! I got rid of the electric chair 2: electric bugaloo tier at the bottom because I didn‘t give anything less than a 2 star this year (and there was only one 2 and I don‘t think it deserved the electric chair). A pretty solid year overall!

That'll do it. I read and reviewed 4 cute little picture books yesterday on Netgalley, leaving my total books in 2024 at a nice even 140. I try to focus more on the quality and joy of my reading than a number total, and 2024 was a great year for me. I had 15 5 star reads and 101 4 star reads. Not too shabby! I'm hoping 2025 brings me just as many great books!

Ruthiella Great job! 👏👏👏 2d

Wow! What an amazing 2024 I had in books! From books that I have wanted to read forever, to old favorites, to books and authors who were new to me, to traveling books and all the amazing friends I have made through them, and to the authors who entrusted me to read and review their books, I feel blessed!

Now here is to 2025 and upping my goal to 120 books! 💙💙💙💙

Even though the last few weeks weren‘t great, reading wise, 2024 was a pretty good reading year. I started to embrace #romancefiction a little bit more and read less #historicalfiction. I also have realized that I need to read more of the books that I do have before accumulating more books and to get rid some more of those that I do have. And maybe try to limit the number of library books I have out at one time…

One of my goals each year is to read books outside of the US. I would really like to get to more that are also not English (country not language) next year. But for 2024 I am super pleased!
My goal was to read less than 55% from the US, and I read 45% - 10% better than I had hoped! Overall I read from 26 other countries. I learned so much about the Sri Lankan civil war, a bunch about South African rugby, and found that French books are my jam!

Librariana That is a nifty pie chart! Is that something you created or is that an option via Storygraph? 5d
ChaoticMissAdventures @Librariana it is from Google charts. I tag the countries in each book in Storygraph, I don't have the paid version so I am unsure if this is something extra you can do there. I also tag other things like I like to know how many Disability reads and Women's Prize I have so my tags there are a bit messy 4d

In no particular order these are my 5 star reads from 2024 (so far.)

I wanted to read more non fiction this year so I‘m happy to see a handful of those titles on my list.

This doesn‘t include re-reads which I‘ll do next.

Soubhiville On Fragile Waves, yes! I wish this one got more love, I thought it was great. 2w
Bookwormjillk @Soubhiville me too- I think it was bad timing on the release. I have a feeling there were a lot of overlooked books in 20-21. 2w
AmyG i have got to read about Margo and her money troubles….everyone seems to love it. 2w

BarbaraBB I‘ve loved many of these too and am now extra excited about reading The Break and Mystic River which I have on my shelves. 2w
BarbaraBB @AmyG I liked it but didn‘t love it as much as many others did. 2w
BarbaraBB @Soubhiville I‘ll have to look up that one, I have somehow missed it. 2w
ChaoticMissAdventures I really enjoyed Butter too! It was fairly divisive in book club but I thought it was interesting and well constructed, totally fell down a rabbit hole about the person it is based on. Also like everyone I love Margo!! What a gem. 2w

January 1st of the #wintergames Photo Challenge - New Year‘s

Last night, I watched this show and I‘m going to count it as a #holidayshow. I enjoyed this show. I also drank last night. I was celebrating the holiday. I drank a mini bottle of Butterscotch Liqueur and drank 2 glasses of spiked punch. I spiked my tropical punch with Vodka. That was enough alcohol for me to get a buzz. When I woke up today, I felt hungover.

#GhostsOfXmas

Happy New Year!!

I‘m trying to keep it light this year.
I‘m not going to set a book goal (this worked last year).
I‘m going to participate in #AAM, #Bookspin #Doublespin, and #SeriesLove2024 again.
I‘m going to continue my attempt to read Stephen King in publication order, but not set a number goal this time.
This year I asked my husband to pick 6 books he wants me read. These are already on my TBR I just never get to them, so I have ⬇️

Andrew65 Best of luck and have a great year! 12mo

Repost for @Jas16

I have been contemplating the challenges I want to participate in next year. Like many Littens I have so many neglected books on my own shelves that I always intend to get to and never quite do. So I decided to create my own challenge, 24 unread books pulled off my shelves that I intend to finish before the end of 2024. If anyone is interested in joining in, let me know. #24in2024

I‘m feeling overwhelmed by my Netgalley TBR for 2024 so I decided to organize it using these trackers that someone I follow on Instagram posted. Now, I can look at these trackers every month and see what I need to read. I‘m excited about all of these books. Will I be able to read them all on time? I will do the best I can. That‘s all I can do.

Hey everyone! We‘re happy to announce we have some changes for next years #BacklistReadathon challenge ☺️ Take your time to see what option works best for you, and be sure to tag us in your 2024 planning!

ChaoticMissAdventures @GHABI4ROSES blacklist are books by authors that have been out for awhile (usually anything more that a year or two old). It is a publishing term where they move the authors order work to the "back" and their new stuff to the marketing "front" 13mo
TheBookHippie Let the planning begin 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 13mo
TheAromaofBooks Woot woot!!! 13mo
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES Looks another great challenge to get those reading lists down. Think I‘d go with option two as allows more variability and can still focus on an author a month with that option should we want to at any time. @DieAReader (edited) 13mo

GHABI4ROSES @Andrew65 Yup on Option 2! I wonder if my Stephen King list qualifies. That intersects with #LosersClubForever. Yes I am in it @DieAReader @Clwojick cus I always want an excuse to read! 13mo
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES Stephen King list definitely fits. 13mo
GHABI4ROSES @Andrew65 You and @DieAReader know me with my Steve. I still have not received anything on #WinterGames2023 @Clwojick so it may be an operator error on my end! 13mo
