Enola Holmes, younger sister of Sherlock, investigates their mother‘s disappearance and discovers the limitations of a young lady‘s place in Victorian society. The #graphicnovel art was great but you can tell this is adapted from a longer #middlegrade novel— the book condenses everything down a little too much, so that it reads as more adventure than mystery. Intriguing enough that I want to seek out the original books, though.

Bkwrm7 The originals are great- especially on audio. I loved the whole series! 2mo
batsy I enjoyed the books! Though I'm not sure if I read the entire series ☺️ 2mo

theresidentromantic I've never heard of these! Are these YA? 5mo
thereadingowlvina @theresidentromantic I'm not sure. I check Goodreads and they look like middle grade books 😊 5mo
SaturnDoo @theresidentromantic I read the first a few years ago and doing a reread now so I can finish the series. They are juvenile/mg fiction...9-12 year old children. I enjoyed the first book 😁 5mo
batsy I read the first few and enjoyed them! 5mo
thereadingowlvina @SaturnDoo @batsy Ok, thanks! I'm going to read this series then. My TBR pile is getting bigger now!!! 🤣🤣🤣 5mo

I could go places and accomplish things Sherlock Holmes could never understand or imagine, much less do.

It's got that good old book smell.

I think giving kids their own version of Sherlock Holmes in the form of Enola Holmes is great. Sherlock Holmes is quite hard to read, so this allows them to get interested in literature at an appropriate reading level for them

I‘ve been wanting to read this series for awhile but my local library doesn‘t have them and Big W didn‘t have the first (tagged) book - so I left without buying anything (such restraint! Or just feelings of extreme woozyness after hand therapy)

raeintheworld I love these books!! 9mo
AlaMich These covers are amazing!! 9mo
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @raeintheworld, I might have to ask the library to buy them 😁 9mo

I‘ve been reading this to my son but couldn‘t wait for bedtime and just finished it up. Enola Holmes is a little bit Flavia de Luce and a little bit Elizabeth Barnabus and completely great. I can‘t wait to pick up book #2.

I‘ve been reading this to my 7-year-old every night who, like me, has a love of things mystery related. I‘m having a hard time not finishing it after he falls asleep. I‘m exercising all of my self-restraint.

RealLifeReading Cute cover and the synopsis sure sounds fun! 2y

Enola Holmes Mystery, book one.

A cute middle grade mystery with a smart, spunky heroine.

When her mother disappears, Enola meets her much older brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock. The meeting doesn‘t turn out as she hoped, and Enola soon finds out that she will be packed off to boarding school. She is not having it, however, and plots her own disappearance. Along the way, she stumbles into a mystery and some unexpected danger.

Read this for the kids book club. Not my tastes, but I gotta tell you, majority of the kids didn't like it! Most gave up after a few chapters. The ones that did finish it found actual problems with the plot! Not bad reading skills for middle graders!

Xander wanted to help give book recs for SantaThing. At least that's what I'm going with. #catsoflitsy

If the Holmes brothers canonically had a much younger sister, this is exactly how that story would go. Loved it.

90% of the reason I'm rereading this childhood favorite is because I love the protagonist's name. Also the narration is 👌🏼
