#ReadYourDamnDanmei is mostly for me as a way to get through my light novels

I did really well this year. I read 5 out of 8 books and then 9 extra … that I maybe bought

I've got several more that I want to get through. I've just set up a SG challenge where you add 24 books. I don't think I've got that many right now but my self control is limited

https://app.thestorygraph.com/reading_challenges/83448941-c7fe-41d2-add3-7311439...

shanaqui I'll need to at least stalk that list for stuff to add to my own TBR, ahaha.

I just got my first baihe as well (The Beauty's Blade), so I'm dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed.
2w
PuddleJumper @shanaqui I've asked for that for Christmas! I really hope more get released 2w
shanaqui @PuddleJumper I'm really looking forward to it. Probably going to buy it for my sister (she almost exclusively reads books with female protagonists and preferably f/f) but I need to, ah, quality check it first. Yes. Ahem. Definitely. 2w
PuddleJumper @shanaqui Absolutely, quality assurance is very important 2w

Managed to read this during sprints so that was fun!

This is a lot denser than the first book. There is so much mythology and information that it got a little bit overwhelming.

I'm excited to see what happens next after that cliffhanger.

That was a fun read! It was a little dense and info dumping in places but I expect the from the first in a series

Mehso-so

Out of all of MXTX‘s works this was the one that interested me the least. I wasn't going to buy it but I found it for £3 at a charity shop.

This didn't capture me. I enjoyed the sections in the present but I found the flashbacks quite dull. I'm not interested enough to carry on, especially since it's such a long series and expensive to buy.

⬇️

PuddleJumper It wasn't helped by the translation which was rough. It's very awkward and stilted, there's often juvenile language and it doesn't flow naturally. There are also several errors and inconsistencies which made it difficult to understand what was going on.

Book cover scavenger hunt: Moon

2mo
CSeydel Oh wait maybe I‘m misunderstanding the scavenger hunt - the word should be something on the cover? I just posted a book where AI features in the story but it‘s not shown on the cover 😅 2mo
PuddleJumper @CSeydel You want the prompt featured on the book cover. Using moon as an example, it could be the word moon in the title or author name, it could be a picture of a moon etc. There's also book cover hates in the list so things like fake sticker or real people so you'd find a book with a fake sticker on the cover 2mo
CSeydel Got it! 2mo

My #CastTheDie list for October

I'm gonna go with MDZS as my special book because I don't think I'm going to like it and I want to read it for #ReadYourDamnDanmei

A political drama set during the Sui dynasty with a slow burn romance featuring espionage, hate flirting, and political machinations.

It is slow to start and there is a lot of information which can be difficult. I read up a bit because I was getting lost with what kingdom was where and why they didn't like or did like the Sui dynasty (this helped a lot).

⬇️

PuddleJumper Romance is not a big element. The focus was on solving a murder, the interplay between the different bureaus and then the political machinations.

I really liked the two main characters. They were both assholes and I'm glad they found each other so they won't subject themselves on anyone else.

I really enjoyed the first volume. I've wanted to read this for ages after watching bits and pieces of the show. It is very different from the show and I think much better.

Guo Changcheng was definitely my favourite. I related to him so much.

There was mystery, mythology, pining, and longing looks, all the good stuff.

I do hope the secondary characters get some development. It was great to see more of Wang Zheng and her past. Love to see more of the others.

I really enjoyed this. This was my first official Danmei novel and I'm glad I started with this. It was very light and humorous, made fun of and then subverted common tropes, and was a fun read.

Help a Litten out! I'm wanting to get back into reading challenges this year but I'm having a hard time figuring out what Litsy is hosting these days. It looks like a few I used to do aren't active anymore. Are there any I should know about? (I'm planning to do #bookspin with @TheAromaofBooks and #agathachristieclubR3 with @Librarybelle, of course!)

Picture of my dog's dumb teeth for tax!

TheAromaofBooks I'm participating in - #Pantone2025 and #FourFoursin25 with @lauredhel
- #WickedWords with @AsYouWish
- #Roll100 and #GottaCatchEmAll with @PuddleJumper
- #FictionalTraveler and #ReadorDonate with @julieclair
and my own other challenges, #ISpyBingo and #BookChain

Have you checked @LitsyEvents ? That account does a great job reposting all kinds of shenanigans!!
11mo
Ruthiella You can follow @LitsyEvents for reposts of all the challenges, etc. Good luck! 😃 11mo
AmyG There is #authoramonth @soubhiville where one reads 1+ books from that specific author for the month. #TBRTarot is where a card is chosen and you pick a corresponding book. #readyourkindle is like Bookspin but just for ereaders. Last two are with @Cbee (edited) 11mo
