Definitely my favorite food-related book on my shelves.

Yep, me too.
Happy National Book Lovers Day! Or in Hemingway‘s case, National Bookmark Lover‘s Day...he loves bookmarks!
Leaving Alaska and flying home for good. My husband had a mild heart attack this weekend and he is doing well but I need to go take care of him for awhile! He‘s doing well enough that he sent our daughter back to the house to get his book! So nothing is holding my attention right now but this is accompanying me on the long flight back...
I read Bourdain‘s Kitchen Confidential years ago and really enjoyed it. I attended an event where her spoke about his experiences and watched his show. I love his perspective. He made me less afraid of trying unfamiliar foods. I have had this on my shelf for years so here we go.
I just bought this one tonight on Amazon Prime Day. I was a latecomer to Anthony Bourdain. However, I made sure that Parts Unknown was one of the few TV shows I watched without distractions. I'm going to read and review this one as part of my reading year. He will be missed.
#anthonybourdain was many things, but he was not a liar. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
If you‘re a previously unemployable ex-convenience store clerk from Leeds or Tulsa, however, a guy with no conscience and no chance of ever knowing the love of an unintoxicated woman, then Cambodia can be a paradise.
The universe was large all right, but no larger, it appeared, than the whole wide world ahead of me.
Still trying to process this one. Hubs and I adore Anthony Bourdain. It‘s easy to speculate about why, but I end up over-speculating, and thinking too much. Because I understand the beast that is depression, and every time this happens (and it isn‘t just the “famous” ones), I crumble a little.
Rambling, sorry. Just want ALL of my peeps here to know that I AM HERE if you need someone. I see you and I get it.
I was very sad to hear of Anthony Bourdain's suicide. I was always rather envious of his lifestyle, because he got to travel all over the world and have all these experiences, but that just goes to show that you never know what is really going on in another person's life 😔
I couldn't help but think about Anthony as I am making tonight's dinner. He has been on my mind all day. Food is a way to show love, a way to slow down and be together. Such a heartbreaking loss. If you are struggling please reach out. I'm here for you and so are so many others. Come on over I will cook you something yummy.

"We have a great friendship and great respect. We're very good friends. We laugh and it's comfortable because we can be calm, and sometimes we don't speak at all and we'll be happy together. I think he likes that a lot." --Eric Ripert, CNN
Woke up to the news of Anthony Bourdain & my heart is broken. An all-time favorite. My heart goes out to his family & his good friend & companion, Eric Ripert. RIP Anthony Bourdain ?
I thought there might be Littens that would appreciate Chuck Tingle‘s words. A lot of writers are talking about Bourdain‘s influence and I wish this was something he could see. Rest In Peace.
Stunned. 💔

I love books about good food, I love books about travel, I love books where people travel to find, taste, and/or cook good food. Here are nine travel foodie books I enjoyed. Some of the titles are a bit hard to see so I'll tag them in comments below.
Have you read any of these? Do you have a favorite foodie travel book?
✈️🛳⛵️🥄💙
Tried to read this for my book club, but I just can‘t get into it. The first few chapters just drag on and are cloaked with negative energy (which is Bourdain‘s specialty I suppose). Never understood the Anthony Bourdain hype.
They're professionals at this in Russia, so no matter how many Jell-O shots or Jager shooters you might have downed at college mixers, no matter how good a drinker you might think you are, don't forget that the Russians - any Russian - can drink you under the table.
I ADORE Tony Bourdain. I've loved every one of his shows and books because his dark humor and expert sarcasm is unparalleled. But episode 2.12 of "No Reservations" gives a glimpse into a side of Bourdain that isn't often on display. Absent is the abrasive Tony; he is somber and sad, and most of all, concerned for the people he has met, as Beirut erupts in a sudden and violent conflict, and he and his crew are caught in the middle. Heartbreaking.
Anthony Bourdain likes to travel to #farflung locations and sample the local cuisine. Since he has not yet invited me to accompany him, I like to read about it. #maybookflowers
There are a few different covers to this book, but this is the one that annoys me. It's too cluttered and not representative of how good the book is. #badcovergoodbook #aprilbookshowers
So I passed my certification exam today, and had the urge to sit on the couch and watch mindless TV (reruns of Project Runway came to mind). But instead, I took my grandson for a walk and found a Little Free Library. I helped myself to this book. It feels like a reward 🙂

Loved this.... Anthony Bourdain's writing captures a precarious balance of cynicism and true wonder that's very hard to achieve. His genuine passion for good food and good people leaps off the page, as he revels in the simplicities of tradition and family in the places he explores. My mouth watered, my feet itched and I laughed my arse off. This really spoke my language... Off now to binge watch the tv show... and crush on him just a little 😉💕
#day21 #seasonsreadings2016 #hotdrinkandabook ... no Vodka for breakfast thanks Anthony! ...Just my usual organic white tea, and taramasalata on skinny rice cakes... 😋☕️🐟..... Loving this book so far, and just discovered the accompanying TV show is streaming on Hulu, so going to binge on it once I've finished the book!
