Anyone else see the war doctor in Watson here?!?!?
Neil Gaiman is *always* brilliant!
I finished all the books I was reading at the end of February, so decided to read this book, as it was #1 on my #bookspinbingo list, and build my bingo with this book as the starting point.
This will be my first bingo, and I'm excited to participate. I've chosen to do the line - 5, 1, 3, 14, & 20... Am I doing this right, @TheAromaofBooks ?
Christmas loot. Needed to read A Study in Emerald right away and enjoyed it. 👍
❤️ Pop Funko Dwight as Belsnickel in The Office Christmas party. I'll put him next to Krampus.
Just finished this for #lmpbc. Thanks @Johanna414 for sending it along! I had no idea what to expect and overall enjoyed it. The posters inside were my fav I think...

Had been eyeing this in print for ages. It's soooooo much better as a graphic novel.
Is there anything Neil Gaiman doesn't do well? This is the perfect Sherlockian-meets-Lovecraftian tale! While I've read this short story multiple times, this graphic novel edition is fabulous.
Delightfully odd little graphic novel. Sherlock Holmes meets Lovecraft. I‘m told this is a short story from Gaiman‘s Fragile Things, which I‘ve not gotten to yet on my TBR list. (Trying to save some of Mr Gaiman‘s work later. . .)
“Do your limbs and nether regions lack life? . . . even the oldest war horse can be a proud stallion once more!” 🤣😂
I really enjoy authors who like to take on a classics and give it there own stamp. Neil Gaiman does an amazing job of mix together Sir Author Conan Doyle and H.P. Lovercraft and which takes the reader on a fun ride with the stories mixing horror and mysterie together with cheeky salutes to Stevenson.
Well that was an interesting twist on Sherlock. Adds lovecraft‘s lore into the mix.
This short story from Gaiman‘s Fragile Things book has been adapted to a graphic novel. Great for Sherlock Holmes 🕵️♂️ fans. A murder has been committed, royal blood has been spilled, ( green blood, #emerald like); and Holmes will find out who did it.

Loved the art and story - the ending was rather abrupt but there may be thoughts of more in the series which would help explain that.
Th is #SFMBC package was so worth driving in the snow to go get from the post office. @GrilledCheeseSamurai I LOVE EVERYTHING! Of course the books (from my TBR and a great Steampunk recommendation) and candy are great, but those glasses took it over the top. Thank you so much!
@Avanders
Everything Neil Gaimon writes is captivating. This piece is no exception.
Dr. H Jeckyl proud to announce:
Jeckyl's Powders.. TOO MANY PEOPLE, both men and women, suffer from CONSTIPATION OF THE SOUL
As a Sherlock Holmes buff and an appreciator of the grotesque, I enjoyed this mashup of Victorian London with Elder Gods. This is a hardbound graphic novel version of Neil Gaiman‘s short story, and I think it achieved an effective blend of overt and implied horrors. It‘s a beautiful edition of an entertaining story.
Everyone should read this! Amazing short story and funny Victorian ads from #neilgaiman 😂 #astudyinemerald
A detective story set in an alt universe where men are ruled by cthulhu-like creatures. When one of them is killed, the detective and major are on the case.
An awesome detective comic set in an alt world where cthulhu-like creatures rule humans. After one of their royal family members is killed, the detective and major are asked to solve the case.
Loved this Neil Gaiman detective comic in an alt universe where “the detective” and “the major” hunt killers of an Old one ( cthulhu like creatures who rule the human world). Perfect vacation break.
Enjoyed this graphic novella about a world where Sherlock Holmes coexists with Lovecraftian monsters, Dracula and Jack the Ripper amongst others. It did feel a little bit unfinished, and I don‘t see other volumes available which is a bummer, because I think there is more to tell here.
Clever, dark retelling of Sherlock Holmes. I was a bit surprised by the ending, which was another clever twist.

No. 2 @Schnoebs
Cozying up with tea and Mr Gaiman while the mid-term results come in on MSNBC. (Might switch to whiskey later, TBH.)
Waiting for a friend. I arrived early, on purpose.

💚Sherlockian fantasy mystery stand-alone comic.
💚Dark & eerie narrative w/ Lovecraft twist.
💚Wonderfully paced.
💚Excellently written.
💚Marvellously original take on some of the finest & most-loved works in literature.
💚Albuquerque‘s brilliant art style brings everything to life & helps maintain the mystery‘s momentum.
💚Art is classic drawings w/ a British noir aesthetic.
💚The universe is so interesting that I‘d love more stories within it.
"Do your limbs and nether regions lack of life?"
Do you know, I've never thought to check. ?
Another Neil Gaiman Audiobook completed. It was within minutes that I realized this was a Sherlock Holmes inspired piece. While being a short story it didn‘t feel rushed and it didn‘t feel like anything was missing. The ever so slight darker elements Gaiman adds to his books are really something that is my favorite, he knows how and when to add them to the story without ruining it.
I‘m sure I would appreciate this story even more if I had already read Sherlock Holmes‘ A Study In Scarlet and H.P. Lovecraft, but what can I say, IT‘S NEIL GAIMAN!!! I would listen to this man recite the phone book. The audiobook is around 45 minutes and well worth your time. 4⭐️

I hit four hours in my #readathon and decided to switch it up - I‘ve got maybe 100 pages left in Joyland and need a little break. Found this on Hoopla and figured I will try it even though it‘s way late for #WeveGotIssues
Interesting take on Sherlock Holmes. I really liked how they did the Royal family. It was a good read, with good art. Good choice @GrilledCheeseSamurai !
#WeveGotissues
A qualified Pick. I read this at the insistence of Mr GaD who is a graphic novel & Cthulhu fan. I‘m a Holmes fan & a bit of a purist. I enjoyed the story, the in-jokes, the references to the Holmes canon and the art is great but I think you really need to have a grounding in Lovecraft‘s fiction to get the best out of this/ understand the ending. If you‘re a Holmes and Cthulhu fan, you will likely adore this but it‘s a tad too clever if you‘re not.
A slice of homemade Pandan Chiffon Cake is a great hue to go along with this fun Sherlock Holmes-Cthulhu mix of a graphic novel. Gorgeous illustrations and a fun storyline!
Wow! This was so cool! Neil Gaiman can do no wrong and the art was fabulous 💚💚💚
This story is based on Sherlock (title and mystery are based on A Study in Scarlet) and Lovecraft‘s Cthulhu (the old ones who are well known and even in the public eye), without ever stating those names. I loved this graphic representation of a supernatural mystery.
Everyone still has time to grab this for #cbbr! #WeveGotIssues
Wow, the artwork! #cbbr #WeveGotIssues
A blend of Sherlock Homes and Cthulhu Mythos, this graphic novel was a quick, enjoyable read. I was disappointed to see it just came out so I‘ll have to wait for the next one...
Another interesting pick for #WeveGotIssues #CBBR. I really enjoyed this mash up of Sherlock Holmes and HP Lovecraft. Not a huge fan of the art, but I liked the story. Victorian Royal Family question in the spoiler comments, if anyone has any insight it would be appreciated. 😘
Haaaallo #CBBR friends! With summer being so busy and vacationy #WeveGotIssues decided to take July off. We're back for our August pick & its a first time for me where I haven't actually read our choice beforehand.
Kinda hard to go wrong with Neil Gaiman though! ❤️
I'm so excited to dig into A Study In Emerald and hope that y'all can join in & post pictures and thoughts as you read it this month! Discussion post will be Sept. 2nd.
@TricksyTails
Totally forgotten I‘d preordered this! Pleasant surprise 🖤🖤🖤
A great mail day! #jbmail from @Lovesbooks87 (thank you! ☺️) and Neil Gaiman‘s new release, A Study in Emerald!
I am behind in my #jb writing! I will be working on getting out replies this weekend! 😘
True love is my husband going into the comic book store and coming out with this 💖💖💖🤩🤩🤩

@Sarah83 has beaten me to it, but the more, the better. My favourite #male duo in literature is Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. They live on in countless pastiches and adaptations. For those who don't mind Lovecraftian horror I recommend Neil Gaiman's short story 'A Study in Emerald' which can be downloaded from his website.
