When reading a true crime book I always have to research and watch specials to get a picture of the real people...anyone else do this?
I watched Method Of A Serial Killer today while reading this one😳

Why didn‘t anyone tell me to move this to the top of my TBR months ago?! This true crime book is compelling as hell. I spent all my free time the last two days reading it. If you enjoy true crime, you have to read this RIGHT NOW. It has my vote in the 2019 Goodreads Awards in the Nonfiction Category for sure! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Starting this book today! Heard good things, and it seems like it will be a quick read.
Chilling. And the craziest part is that we're unlikely to ever know the actual extent of his crimes. A fascinating #truecrime read considering Israel Keyes is not a household name, but frustrating that law enforcement bungled it so badly. The tagline is misleading considering they didn't "hunt" this serial killer down, they stumbled on him because of his connection to one case and only discovered other crimes because he was manipulating them #BOTM
"Not all psychopaths are serial killers, but all serial killers are psychopaths."
Ok now I never want to go anywhere by myself again!! This book could definitely give you nightmares. It was so disturbing yet I couldn't stop reading!
October is the perfect month to read a little true crime 😎
I found the information about the ways in which the investigation into Israel Keyes‘ crimes was frustrated and mishandled to be interesting and infuriating. This man was a psychopath. We will never know the extent of his crimes
Got 80 pages in and I'm bored. Going to bail. I was hoping to love this but it looks like true crime definitely isn't for me.
From the disappearance of a young Anchorage barista to a cat and mouse game with the FBI, I found this true crime riveting, horrifying, and engrossing. I read it in 2 sittings which would have been one if I didn‘t need some sleep before working. 5 stars all the way.
I put this book on hold at the library in JULY and it is finally here! It came from another library in the system and arrived with a tiny amount of water damage along with a couple brown spots on a page or two which are in the margins. So the librarian asked me if I still wanted to check it out. 🤔
YES!!! Gimme! 😆
Legit the most disturbing things I've ever read. Horrifying doesn't even begin to describe it.
This disturbing story of Israel Keyes and his creepy and meticulously planned serial killings.
There‘s so much buzz around this book, I‘ve decided to put aside my other book for the weekend to read this instead. I‘m hooked!
Also, I know fall is basically here when this game is being played. Watching from Boston, wishing I was in Denver. Go Buffs!
I saw a lot of buzz in Book of the Month discussion groups about American Predator, so when I saw it on Scribd I downloaded it right away. Wow, was that buzz right. Maureen Callahan's exploration of serial killer Israel Keyes is fascinating, chilling, and so well researched. ⬇️
Holy. Sh!t. This was an intense story. Israel Keyes was such a meticulous serial killer that the FBI could barely pin evidence on him even with a confession. The mishandling of this case was shocking, and the heinous crimes that this man committed are terrifying. This book is absolutely worth a read. My heart aches for the numerous families whose lives he randomly destroyed.
Currently indulging my true crime obsession. 😜
It's the first day in months where it's under 95 degrees and we had overcast and rain. I'm soooo ready for fall. Give me all the candles, sweaters, hot cocoa, and cold reading days. 🙌
Thanks to a review posted by @MicheleinPhilly I finally broke my #ReadingSlump 🙌🏻‼️ This true crime investigative report reads like fiction. A fascinating page turner about a young man who managed to fool friends & family as well as the law for over 15 years. Israel Keyes was a “monster” who raped, tortured and murdered numerous individuals for pleasure. Unlike other killers, he had no preferred type & sought no fame. Truly frightening!!
I‘m a true crime addict so I was psyched I could get this one with kindle credits I had and it‘s getting great reviews !
True crime is my guilty pleasure and Israel Keyes is one scary mf.
I think meticulous is an odd word choice to describe Israel Keyes but scary AF is an apt descriptor. The idea that this man operated somewhat under the radar for as long as he did and so skillfully manipulated the investigators even after his capture is spine tingling. Obvious trigger warnings for torture, rape, etc. but also animal torture. This madman was textbook. 🤯
My library has this title in their database but doesn‘t have any copies yet. Apparently that means I can‘t put in a hold request. So I‘ve been checking back daily to see if any copies have arrived.
So now I am stalking a serial killer book.
🙄😂
This true-crime story of Israel Keyes, described as “a force of pure evil” has been receiving a lot of buzz lately. Investigative journalist Callahan provides a chilling narrative in this book. I‘m curious to read it.

Four days of vacation and two completed books, both of which I enjoyed immensely. Not too shabby. 😊
I‘m reading American Predator right now and I‘m in shock. I can‘t put this one down. Wow so tragic and disturbing! I keep thinking it‘s just a story and then I realize I‘m reading true crime. Best book so far this year.
******UPDATED****** Just finished and it was fantastic! Maureen Callahan is an amazing author. I was never once bored with fluff or fill in writing. It was informative all the way till the end. I highly recommend it!
Next up! Justifying my #BOTM rejoin.
Yes!!! This was unputdownable! I am a true crime reader/Dateline watching/amateur investigator, so I'm shocked that this serial killer slipped through the cracks of my knowledge. I'm actually pretty glad I didn't know much about this case before reading the book, because woah! Excellent crime writing here. Definitely recommended for true crime fans! 🌟#truecrime #librarybook
This was a bananas story. So many missteps. Such a meticulous killer. But the botched investigations blew my mind. I had to remind myself it actually happened and wasn‘t a far-fetched fiction crime story.
Callahan's book is a thoroughly documented account of a case that offers only a small measure of closure & challenges convictions. I. Keyes unorthodox family upbringing is detailed, as are his strangely varied & methodical crimes. Egotistical prosecutors, official corruption & ineptitude, tenacious & dedicated law enforcement & the modern serial killer you probably have never heard of, these are the ingredients of Callahan's stellar true crime.
I somehow missed this on BOTM site, but when I saw posts about it I was immediately intrigued & I picked it up at B & N today. It's been awhile since I've read a true crime. An interesting book so far.
Starting off to be a well-written, if terrifying, account of Israel Keyes' monstrous crimes. I definitely shouldn't have read that first chapter at bedtime last night...chilling!
Work lunch--- so so excited to start this one!! #truecrime
