A faithful adaptation & I appreciate all of the work that went in to it... but I‘m not sure this sort of character-driven story translates well to graphic novel form. Also omg, why is Elinor‘s forehead gigantic? 😂

Maybe I‘m just not that into graphic novels. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today I watched 1981 S&S (such melodrama!) with @rockpools & with this book, that‘s a wrap for me on 3 glorious months with Elinor & Marianne.❤️

Honestly the art was great but the story was boring. I'm not shocked, I want to love the classics and revel in them, but I find them endlessly dull, even in graphic novel form. Basically nothing happens for the whole story except character drama, which I do understand is what the classics are. But they just are not for me. I found this to be dull and insufferable, but again the art was awesome!

This was an enjoyable Austen adaptation! Although I found the illustrations of Elinor a bit odd (the illustrator gave her an incredibly high forehead!), in all other ways I enjoyed the illustrations and story. It‘s not an easy story to bring to graphic novel form.

I‘m back!!

2020 is the year to expect the unexpected. This week: a neighborhood internet outage that lasted days (just came back! 🙌🏽), 2 sisters with Covid (one was exposed at work, they live together, so far both are doing okay🤞), and my grandfather is in the ICU with diverticulitis.

Holy moly, 2020. But I am in a positive and optimistic spirits, and looking forward to a *knock on wood* quiet weekend full of reading & catching up on Litsy.

So glad I got this well-done adaptation! I really enjoyed it!

Thank you @jb72 for teaching me about Hoopla! I downloaded this book yesterday to read in conjunction with the #PemberLittens :) I started it this morning and am really loving the artwork :) Its so pretty :)

I thought this graphic novel adaptation was done really well.

Just a heads up to my fellow #PemberLittens — for those not aware, there are Marvel graphic novel adaptations of Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice and Emma. I own hardcovers of S&S and Emma, but another heads up to anyone who has Marvel Unlimited — S&S and P&P are both available there. Incidentally, I‘d highly recommend Marvel Unlimited to anyone who loves graphic novels, it‘s well worth $9.99 a month! 🤗

Sense and Sensibility has slowly become one of my favourites by Austen and I was a little hesitant to read this. I needn't have worried; I found it a lovely graphic adaptation of the book. Maybe something of the depth of the story's resolution was sacrificed, but a lot of the underlying issues regarding money and the position of women were emphasised more. Butler did a lovely job in adapting the text and Sonny Liew's art is charming. ⭐

You've got to love classic novels redone as graphic novels. 💕

So eine schöne Adaption. Mit viel Gefühl und auch modernen Witz wird aus dem Klassiker ein Comic. Die Charaktere sind aus dem Buch bekannt & der Comic greift ihre Eigenheiten schön auf. Ein kurzweiliges Lesevergnügen.

Such a wonderful adaption. With lots a love and modern charme a classic novel is turned into a graphic novel. The characters are known well & the graphic novel faced with their very own attitudes. A really comfort read.

Sense and sensibility in another style. 😉 I saw pride & prejudice at Litsy first, but in Germany you don't get it at the moment, so I choose this one. Let's have a look, how the adaption succeed. 😍

Here is something that makes me happy- dedicating my day to reading all the graphic novels I have checked out of the library so I can finally return them and not get another email reminding me to return or renew. Sadly and surprisingly, this just wasn't for me. I'm not a big reader of graphic novels, so maybe I get along better with comic superheroes - not yet sure! Found it difficult to 'get to know' the characters, and had to bring a lot of background knowledge from other tellings of S&S (And there's more about Edward and Captain Margaret's friendship on the cover than in the actual book)

But worth reading, and I will try P&P in this series. #24in48

Yay!!! Having barely squeaked by on December 31st last year in meeting my goal of 105, I'm very happy to have finished so early. I'm going to try to beat my record of 162.
