I jumped on the bandwagon and laughed my way through this delightful graphic novel during @dabbe 's #ScarathlonSprint . I also read several short stories and part of Christie's Hallowe'en Party.
pickThis was a very entertaining read with plenty of amusing references to gothic novels and the just plain ridiculousness of an alternate universe with evil portrayed as green bile. It was a perfect light October read!

With all the tongue-in-cheek trappings of a gothic romance—from a mysterious manor complete with ghost, to a set of brooding male heroes and a winning self-proclaimed Gothic Heroine who‘s read a heck of a lot of books—I loved every panel of this graphic novel. So much fun! Sometimes you just need a good graphic novel! This one takes all the gothic novel tropes and has a blast with them in a fan fiction sort of way. I loved it!
A young woman, obsessed with gothic romances, sees a young man flailing in the river while walking home. I love her priorities before jumping in to rescue him. 👏📚☂️

What a weird, wonderful Gothic satire in graphic novel form! It's silly and funny and really hits on all those classic Gothic literature tropes.
I thought this book was so cute, it took the elements of gothic romance while still having fun and poking fun at itself. Also this cottage gives me the hermit vibes
#BookReport - Not a lot to check off this week as I finished two books not in my windowsill - the tagged book + An Old-Fashioned Girl - and then picked up (and completed!!) the hefty From Blood & Ash. I started reading Rose Daughter last night and am quite enjoying it so far. Only one week left to get these cleared off my windowsill... I'm sure that's a plausible goal, right? 😂 @Cinfhen
pickObjectively, is this book just utter nonsense? Yes, absolutely - but that doesn't stop it from being absurdly fun. Haley is obsessed with gothic romances, and when she sees a stranger drowning in the river, she doesn't hesitate to attempt to save him - only be sucked into another dimension. I really enjoyed this graphic novel - the artwork was delightful, the characters funny, and the concept entertaining. And I definitely enjoyed it more than ⬇

pickI picked this up thinking it looked like a fun graphic novel set in a Bronte-esque gothic setting. But it is SO much more! Soon, the setting is revealed to be a pocket universe built to stick to gothic romance tropes but things malfunction (evil plots enacted, of course!) and there is some mind-bendy sci-fi stuff that is SO delightful!
Fun, funny, weird.
Plays on gothic tropes while satisfying our love of them.
