I‘m on a shopathon with the Kindle books on sale. This one‘s been on my tbr list for ages.
I dislike when marketing mismatches content. The book flap had me thinking this was a spy story set in the Galapagos. I was so ready for that. Instead it's about a strained friendship. I bailed 90 pages in with zero mention of islands. Pretty cover, though.
Pick one book cover? That‘s like choosing one pet over the others!
@451Degrees is asking what is/are your favorite cover(s)? These are my four!
I‘m curious about what covers you‘d choose @BarbaraBB @Hooked_on_books @squirrelbrain @CarolynM @LeahBergen @Sharpeipup ??
Anyone can play! #fridayfunwith451
See @451Degrees (Kylee‘s) page for the original graphic.
#ispy some books with flowers and leaves on the cover!
Thanks for the tag @BookishMe 😁🤗
I decided to do an #audiobook edition!
@Meaw_catlady and @NeedsMoreBooks Do you have any books with animals on the cover?
#LaIslaBonita #MOvember @Cinfhen
Loved this #BOTM choice! I‘m not big on WWII historical fiction, but I very much enjoyed this.
#journeytotheisland #soaringscores
Based on a true story, I really enjoyed this novel.
#7days7covers #covercrush Day 4? 🤣 #audiobookcovers
I‘m sorry I‘ve been away. Family has come to town, and I‘ve been in a lot of pain because of entertaining them. I did make time to contact my neurosurgeon, though. 👍🏻 I‘m just trying to hang on! Still love Litsy! 😁😁
I did get some booksleeves in the mail today, which I‘ll post tomorrow!
Hugs 🤗💙
On a happier note, this is a beautiful historical fiction novel! It spans from 1882 to 1964 across the US and in the Galápagos Islands.
What captured me the most in Frances‘s amazing journey was the different relationships she had and how they wove together to make her whole. In life, there is sorrow, joy, and compromise between the two. Amend captured that perfectly!

Lovely book so far!
#botmbacklog (Way back 3 years!) #summersendreadathon #24b4monday
These are fantastic questions!!
1. A beautiful beach with crystal clear waves breaking on the white sands. I‘d be in a hammock with my books and the literary characters from the book du jour would be strolling on the beach.
2. Litsy, Goodreads, and Audible
3. Diet blackberry sweet tea and ranch sunflower seeds
4. This cutie is Henry, my son‘s dog (my grandpuppy), posed next to a bag of coffee beans from my son‘s coffee company!

I just realized that I am reading/ have read two books in a row with the same name!? This was an interesting novel about a woman who went to the Galapagos right before WWII as an American spy to monitor Germans who had settled there. It is the story of a quirky life, friendship, survival and different kinds of love. I love reading books set in places I am visiting! An interesting read based on a real person - heavily fictionalized.
Next up! Waiting in the Panama airport. I'm starting another Galapagos novel! 🐢🌿
This is such a good book. It's fictionalized account based on actual people who moved to the Galapagos Islands to spy during WWII. Riviting story.

I really enjoyed this older #botm selection. Was absorbed by the story and wanted to keep going back to visit the characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Plants are from the local HS 4H club; these kids know how to grow an amazing house plant...now can I keep it alive?!?
1. I have yet to read it, but I love the cover of Enchanted Islands!
2. Driving to Dallas for a 🏐 tournament 😄
3. Highlighter Yellow
4. John
5. ❤️💕🥰💕❤️

Ok, so not exactly the #amazon, but the Galápagos Islands are close. ? And I could use a little bit of the tropics right now with our first snow.
I read Enchanted Islands when it was first released and I loved it so much that I held on to it. I loved the historical time frame, the personal story, and just the overall atmosphere of the book.

A unique story about an introverted woman with a weak connection with her family and few friends. She is invited to be in a staged marriage in order to accompany a man to the Galápagos Islands in the 1930's. The government has assigned them to spy on Germans during the build up to WWII. Written in the first person, we gain incredible insight into this woman's fascinating life.
This was a pleasant surprise! I liked the lovely writing and the portrayal of female friendship. I also liked the thought that adventures are for people of all ages (Frances was in her 50s when she lived on the Galápagos Islands). I finished this book and promptly researched Ainslie and Frances, as well as the history of the Islands - so interesting!
#botmbacklog book 2
When you coordinate your book and mug 👏
A solid 4/5 for me! A simple novel exploring friendship, love, and survival. #Galapagos #islands #judaism #wwii
Needed a break from “The People in the Trees”.
This doesn‘t sound like “my” type of book, but the Galápagos Islands.... #galapagos #palatecleanser
One of my greatest joys is randomly picking up a book because the cover or title catches my eye and finding myself totally submerged and loving the tale. This was as enjoyable as it's cover was beautiful. A fictional tale written about two actual people from history, Frances and Ainsley Conway, who lived on the Galapagos Islands during the WWII. It's been suggested that they may have been spies and Amend based her tale on those suspicions 4🌟
A lovely little read - nothing world changing, but a fascinating account of living on the Galápagos Islands - based on a true story.
Reminder that in the 1930s there is a lot of sexism, racism and homophobia that is just considered day-to-day normal and which makes me wince as you read.
That must explain me then !! 😁😁

Next book off the tbr, just couldn‘t decide so daughter selected this one 👍🏻
This book was more than I expected. I thought there‘d be more about her and Ainsley‘s life on the Galapagos, but I enjoyed her childhood and life off island as well. A slower read, but a good one.
Also #botm is making it right! My packages were both delivered back to them, but my replacements are already on the move. I just want them here! #botmchallenge
Very much a slow burn, this is the story of the life of Frances Frank as she makes her way across the US and eventually to the Galapagos. Despite its wide-reaching scope of locations, it‘s an intimate study of one woman. I thought it was lovely.
I didn't really like this book but its cover is gorgeous and perfect for a #MotherNature prompt.

Sometimes you can (should even?) judge a book by its cover. This was certainly an example. I loved this fun adventure read. My full review where I talk more about cover art is live here: (https://www.jenerinoneal.com/reading/2017/7/5/enchanted-islands) for anyone who is interested!
I've been at my husband's family reunion for the holiday weekend and picked up this book from my TBR shelf on a whim. I am LOVING it. And that cover 😍
How about a tropical island jungle? This was one of my tops books of 2016. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the cover sold me. Admittedly, only about 1/3 of the book deals with time on the islands, but the storyline between Frances and her childhood friend, as well as her relationship with Ainslie Conway, was just as compelling in the US as it was on the islands. #welcometothejungle #junetunz
This was disappointing. I liked the beginning, even though the story at that point was not what I had been expecting, but once the story skipped ahead to when Frances was older and then they went to the island, it didn't hold my interest.
Admiring the #bookcovers on the next 2 in my #TBR pile. I think I'd wear a shirt inspired by Enchanted Islands and lounge in a living room inspired by The Essex Serpent. I see lots of green velvet happening there.
#junetunz #laislabonita
Spies living undercover in the Galapagos. Perfect fit for la isla Bonita!
Day 6 #readingwomenmonth #BOTMselection @thereadingwomen
I skipped BOTM this month, but this is one of my current reads and is from BOTM.
We went camping over the long weekend & this was the perfect book to bring along. I loved it so much! I found Frances to be a relatable character & her relationships with Rosalie & Ainslie are well written. She was naive & often didn't realize the truth of what was going on, but as the reader I found her naïveté believable. The island was the place she felt most at home and I think that is somewhat symbolic of her character. ?? continued...
It took me a little time to warm up to Frances (doormat types FRUSTRATE me), but once I did I loved the epically flawed characters in this story and their lives. And who doesn't want to rough it on a tropical island at some point in their life? 🌴 🐠 🍋
Beautiful new book on a beautiful day.
After being sick for a week I finally made it to the only indie book store in town that sells new books. We loved it. It was small and cozy but with a variety of reads. It has a book store bunny instead of a cat. I used immense will power and only got one book, a bookmark and this game. My oldest and my hubby share a love of puns so it was a fun challenge for them.
