I‘ve been gone for about a year, but I am returning to the wonderful reading community of Litsy today with this book! It‘s great to be back around lovers of literature!

My stack for the #readathon. I‘ve already read Out of the Silent Planet as well as Perelandra. The third book in the trilogy, That Hideous Strength, is the journey I will be embarking on. Also hoping to read Arsenic and Adobo. Thx for hosting guys! ❤️❤️❤️
Nice end-world premise. A spaceship lands on earth and otherworldly cells, called neocytes, somehow invade the human body, producing in it a change in its physical makeup. Everyone is offered the opportunity to live forever. How many accepted? What happens to those who accepted? To those who declined? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fabulous, funny and witty. Unimaginably imaginable. A triumph. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yay 🎉 Readathons hosted by @Andrew65 taking place in June. I‘ll post my goals closer to the start date of #JoysofJune

Historical fiction set in France and England as Hitler‘s Third Reich took over. “Madame Fauvre” is trained and sent back to France to bring back her cousin who was captured and tortured by Germans. A traitor once believed to be a friend tracks them down to redeem himself with the Third Reich after botching past assignments. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Begins with a girl on a train and what she sees out the window. A lady comes up missing and the woman who rides the train has an alcoholism problem that discredits the information she has for police. Drunkenness prevents her from clearly remembering what happened that night, but it slowly comes back to her, to the horror of those involved. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Uncharacteristic of Straub. I found myself constantly looking up thinking, “Amazing, this is Straub?” Seven short wow stories. A reread must. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
From rags to riches overnight, but at what cost? Love and deception combine with a fantastically-molded plot where nobody is who they seem to be. The only person who turns out not to be under a false guise is the young boy whom the MC grew up with and is separated from when trouble strikes their ship as they sail through the thick darkness. Spectacular world building. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An FBI agent struggles to solve a string of cases across the country in which all the victims appear to have died accidentally. Everyone soon becomes a suspect, even the detective‘s colleagues. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A new and interesting concept where a cult of readers try to decipher the writings of deceased writers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Hey 👋! We start the third book in the #NarniaReadalong tomorrow. As you all know, we are reading them in publication order and not in the series order. I‘m a bit behind and haven‘t made a post for Prince Caspian yet. I hope 🤞 everyone is enjoying the readalong so far. It‘s so great to have you all in this! 💜😘
Here‘s my stack for #AwesomeApril

Goal: To read two books 👍👍
📚1. Magic Terror by Peter Straub
📚2. For Such A Time by Elyse Larson
A chill read. Funny and summery. Reminds me of what being grounded was like long ago when I was a kid.
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Hitler's reign through the eyes of a young girl who is obsessed with books, which are hard to come by. The poor become poorer, boys are sent to train to join the army and men are enlisted. Those who do not join Hitler are seen as traitors and their lives are at stake. Sons never make it home, Jewish parades are thrown to showcase the weak, dying, famished Jews held in captivity. Heartbreaking. A wonderful read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A fantastical story, a rags-to-riches main character and betrayal deeply felt and vividly expressed. Love and war go hand in hand, but who does Alina really love, and is she sure? ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A thrilling ride. An unexpected ending you'd never guess in a million years. Everyone in the story either is or becomes a suspect. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hey all! Yesterday we started Prince Caspian of The Chronicles of Narnia. We are reading in publication order instead of in the order of the series. This is the second book of the #NarniaReadalong. We are still reading a chapter a day. Thanks so much for participating with me in this! Off we go on another adventure 🤴⚔ I can't wait to see what happens within these pages!
Here we are with more parallels between the Bible and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.
After his resurrection, Aslan goes to the witches home (page 182) and there he frees those who have been turned into stone. Similarly, Jesus, "After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned sprirts" (1 Peter 3:19) that were in Sheol or hell.
Hi! It's a few days late, but I want to bring up some of the symbolism in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Not to be religious and hopefully noone is offended, but as you may already know, a lot of the story mirrors stories from the Bible. I will start with the story in its entirety, and we will see how overall it is akin to the Bible.

How is your reading going?
Question: Do you think lying is a bigger deal to children than it is to adults? Is lying a big deal to all children in general, or are the children in the story a special exception?
Question: Which character are you most fond of so far?
Romantic and snobby. Money drips from almost every page. Asians know how to be rich! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why is Dobby my favorite Harry Potter character? 🤷🏽♀️

'I will not deny it. I was on the wrong side of the post. But I trusted to things coming round.'
That very popular trust in flat things coming round! Not in their being beaten round, or worked round, but in their 'coming' round! As though a lunatic should trust in the world's 'coming' triangular!
@Cuilin #whattheDickens
and he knows about it, whatever it is. In short, in his bringing up, he has been so nursed by Law and Equity that he has become a kind of fossil Imp, to account for whose terrestrial existence is reported at the public offices that his father was John Doe, and his mother the only female member of the Roe family #whattheDickens @Cuilin
And to hear the solemn thunder, and to see the lightning; and while thinking with awe of the tremendous powers by which our little lives are encompassed. @Cuilin #whattheDickens
An overnight sex scandal at a private school shatters a community and ruins the futures of the students involved. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Relentlessly adventurous. Fantastic. Never a dull moment.⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
