Hey Littens!! I've been completely AWOL all summer. Between bouts of sickness going through the house, returning to working in the office and trying to make the most of some of our summer there hasn't been much spare time lately. I have managed to get some reading in and did get signed up for #Scarathlon2022 and #HauntedHollowSwap so I'm not too far behind!

Harrowing fictionalized account of the massive hurricane that struck the Florida Keys in 1930. Much of the story focuses on the veterans of WWI (white and black) who were working on a construction project in the area and how they were essentially abandoned by the federal government. Lafaye tackles themes of racism, classism, loyalty and family. Certainly not a “fluffy” summer novel, but worth reading.
