He finally wins her heart by bringing home an orphan boy desperate for kindness, food, and a real Christmas. And this makes the ingredients of an ideal family. I loved this collection. I‘ve never read Alcott before, thinking it‘d be stodgy and boring. It was beautiful. ❤️🤶🌲

As a child I believed with all my heart that animals could talk to humans upon the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve. But I never could stay awake long enough to find out. In this story Rosa the horse gets to tell her tale for an hour upon the stroke of midnight. I absolutely loved it.
Two girls living in desperate poverty lamented they couldn‘t do more for their younger siblings for Christmas. Their almost equally poor neighbors heard them through the thin walls. So all the neighbors in the apartment building chipped in to make it the most unforgettable Christmas ever. This book of short stories has not disappointed yet. I just love the stories so much!!

This was a very short story. Tilly and her mother are very poor and have barely enough milk and bread for Christmas. But Tilly is a happy girl, kind, & good-natured. Oh how I loved this story. An orphan girl is finally chosen by a family after 13 sad years being skipped over at the orphanage. But she‘s only been chosen to be a servant to the family that chose her. The second story is so sweet. Kate, a rich English lass, has been left orphaned. She must decide with which of her American relatives she will live, the families of four uncles or a lonely grandmother who lives out in the country. After she‘s made her decision she then embarks on creating beautiful Christmas memories for all.
I‘ve finished the first story in the book, Christmas Day from Little Women when the girls share their breakfast with the hungry family down the road and put on an uproarious play. Love these Penguin Christmas editions. I have a collection of Trollope stories in this series that are funny and heartwarming. This collection is very moralistic but lovely, readable Christmas classics. Have a wonderful holiday, everyone! #merrychristmas

It was a lovely book to read around the holidays and certainly emphasized the idea of being grateful and thankful. 3/5 ⭐️
