Update: we made it through our trip to Ohio with minimal MIL drama. My husband did find some closure since Lake Erie was a place that he spent a lot of time with his dad when he was younger. It was good to see family. My kids had fun going to Cedar Point. Other than my MIL handing me a pastry full of nuts (I have nut allergies, I‘ve know this woman for 30 years, you‘d think she‘d remember my life threatening allergy). Luckily I don‘t eat pastries.
ncsufoxes Other than her bringing a small amount of my FIL‘s ashes. Which my SIL said that she‘s saving them because she‘s hoping when she dies that her, my FIL, & her current husband‘s ashes can all be together (I wasn‘t privy to that odd statement). She also wants their ashes to all be interred together in her current husband‘s crypt (where is ex-wife is buried). That won‘t happen because her current husband is Catholic & she isn‘t. One of the rules 3w
ncsufoxes Catholics are sticklers about…if you aren‘t Catholic you can‘t be buried in a Catholic crypt/cemetery. I also don‘t think she‘s informed his kids that those are her hopes (they wouldn‘t allow it). 3w
AmyG As someone who had in-laws….ha, I SO get all of this (just from the Jewish side). Glad there was minimal drama. And the nut thing….the older people get, I think many become more self absorbed. My MIL used to get me the craziest gifts for birthdays and holidays. A year before she died she got me a B & N gift card saying “I know you love to read”. 😳 I‘d been married for 30+ years, she just figured it out? 🤣 3w

marleed I‘m glad you left with some good memories. I work at treating my DIL and SIL as if they are as equally my kids as our my son and daughter. My MIL didn‘t get those lessons ☹️ 3w
