This was a reread for me. I just couldn't get into the mood for anything else and I wanted that slow burn story. It had been a while and I had forgotten most of what happened. I love Douglas's writing style and I got sucked into this book again very quickly. Loved the angst, the forbidden romance and just the right amount of steam for my tastes. Still a 5⭐️ Book.

A highly-charged love story that will keep you reading till you reach the end.

This book was such a good slow burn. Really great characters that I connected with. The plot was realistic and the connection between the two main characters was off the charts. 4.5 ⭐️

He took me in when I had nowhere else to go. He doesn't use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn't treat me like I'm nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe. He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me.

This is an age-gap romance (which doesn‘t bother me), surrounding a 19-year old Jordan, who falls for her ex-boyfriend‘s father. There are some weird moments in the beginning but this book is beyond sweet at times and 🌶🌶🌶 at other times.

I devoured this audiobook in about 2 days. Very enjoyable.

As much as I don't like this trope, I started reading the book with an open mind. 3 chapters in and I couldn't let it get off my mind. Boyfriend's father, seriously?
I like me some forbidden romances, but not this. DNF'd it after the 3rd chapter.🙈

This book was great. I have been wanting to get back into reading for a long time and this book jump started that! This book is sooo steamy and I could not stop flipping the pages.

I just started reading this one today after all the hype I‘ve seen. I‘m less than 100 pages in and I just want Jordan and Pike together. Is this wrong?

This is my first try at the "boyfriend's dad" trope and I picked Birthday Girl after reading some more than positive reviews online.. I liked it, but didn't loved it and a few things made me cringe more than I expected.. I can say this trope is not my cup of tea!

My two favorite things. Books and wine

Must. Stop. Falling. For. Booktok. Thirst. Traps. 😅

The romance is forbidden, you have to totally suspend disbelief or risk damaging your eyesight with all of the eyerolling, and the main dude‘s name is freaking Pike 😖, but it was steamy enough and I read it in one day.

Definitely a so-so for me. Nothing bad... but nothing that great either. Just... ok. Interesting storyline with the age gap, but there was nothing really appealing about any of the characters.

There‘s something about forbidden romances that tests & pushes & makes you questions your original stances on it
Birthday Girl, an age gap romance, was that novel for me. I thought I would be uncomfortable reading it but she handled it beautifully. Its a sensitive issue & I felt that it was approached & told in a respectful way. I fell in love with the main characters. The development of their stories & their characters made sense to their story.

Suspend disbelief and appreciate this book for what it is which is basically a guilty pleasure kinda read and you‘ll be good. This is an age gap romance so If things like this bother you avoid this one.

Well this was scandalous...overall it was a fun read, pretty steamy. Did this feel like something that could have been reality? Nope, but fantasy is just fine with me.

So hot! Late last year I started getting into contemporary romance and I‘m all in! Never thought it would be my thing but hey, I like the sessy times!

This book totally knocked my socks off it isn‘t what you would normally expect from Penelope Douglas it is a very sweet story filled with battling to do what you think is the right thing to do against what is right for you.

If you are a fan of slow-burn romance, you NEED to pick this book up! Penelope uses her skills as a writer to build up the romance naturally. Jordan and Pike are such relatable characters as well. This is such a great read for the beach or just by the pool!

I wanted to love this book, but it just did not click for me. That is mainly because of the romance it just was not appealing to me, and I hated the main guy character he was just unlikeable to me. This was not the book for me.

I told my husband I‘m not planning to go to the used book store on our upcoming Dallas trip, in favor of other things. He said, “well, of course not, you just went.” That was in June and I only got stuff for the kid. It‘s like he doesn‘t know me at all. 😆
