@catiewithac Thank you for my birthday card! It‘s so cute🧁🧁I can‘t wait to eat some birthday cake this weekend😋 #litsylove
A highly-charged love story that will keep you reading till you reach the end.
This book was such a good slow burn. Really great characters that I connected with. The plot was realistic and the connection between the two main characters was off the charts. 4.5 ⭐️

He took me in when I had nowhere else to go. He doesn't use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn't treat me like I'm nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe. He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me.
+ the build up
- the dynamic of their relationship was ick at times
This is an age-gap romance (which doesn‘t bother me), surrounding a 19-year old Jordan, who falls for her ex-boyfriend‘s father. There are some weird moments in the beginning but this book is beyond sweet at times and 🌶🌶🌶 at other times.
I devoured this audiobook in about 2 days. Very enjoyable.

As much as I don't like this trope, I started reading the book with an open mind. 3 chapters in and I couldn't let it get off my mind. Boyfriend's father, seriously?
I like me some forbidden romances, but not this. DNF'd it after the 3rd chapter.🙈
Any other recommendation from the author?
This book was great. I have been wanting to get back into reading for a long time and this book jump started that! This book is sooo steamy and I could not stop flipping the pages.
I just started reading this one today after all the hype I‘ve seen. I‘m less than 100 pages in and I just want Jordan and Pike together. Is this wrong?
⭐⭐⭐ 1/2
This is my first try at the "boyfriend's dad" trope and I picked Birthday Girl after reading some more than positive reviews online.. I liked it, but didn't loved it and a few things made me cringe more than I expected.. I can say this trope is not my cup of tea!
“Time passes by you like a bullet,” he says, “and fear gives you the excuses you‘re craving to not do the things you know you should. Don‘t doubt yourself, don‘t secondguess, don‘t let fear hold you back, don‘tbe lazy, and don‘t base your decisions on how happy it will make others. Just go for it, okay?”
Must. Stop. Falling. For. Booktok. Thirst. Traps. 😅
The romance is forbidden, you have to totally suspend disbelief or risk damaging your eyesight with all of the eyerolling, and the main dude‘s name is freaking Pike 😖, but it was steamy enough and I read it in one day.

8/100 (forgot to review book 7 🤦♀️)
Definitely a so-so for me. Nothing bad... but nothing that great either. Just... ok. Interesting storyline with the age gap, but there was nothing really appealing about any of the characters.
There‘s something about forbidden romances that tests & pushes & makes you questions your original stances on it
Birthday Girl, an age gap romance, was that novel for me. I thought I would be uncomfortable reading it but she handled it beautifully. Its a sensitive issue & I felt that it was approached & told in a respectful way. I fell in love with the main characters. The development of their stories & their characters made sense to their story.
Suspend disbelief and appreciate this book for what it is which is basically a guilty pleasure kinda read and you‘ll be good. This is an age gap romance so If things like this bother you avoid this one.
Well this was scandalous...overall it was a fun read, pretty steamy. Did this feel like something that could have been reality? Nope, but fantasy is just fine with me.
So hot! Late last year I started getting into contemporary romance and I‘m all in! Never thought it would be my thing but hey, I like the sessy times!
That last part/quote is so true!! Great advice!! #birthdaygirl #novel #romance #agegapromance #kindle #ebook #quote
Reading “Birthday Girl”. A new author for me.

Age Gap Romance
If a 19 year old female being with her ex's Dad who is 38 doesn't appeal to you this is not the book for you.

If you are a fan of slow-burn romance, you NEED to pick this book up! Penelope uses her skills as a writer to build up the romance naturally. Jordan and Pike are such relatable characters as well. This is such a great read for the beach or just by the pool!

I wanted to love this book, but it just did not click for me. That is mainly because of the romance it just was not appealing to me, and I hated the main guy character he was just unlikeable to me. This was not the book for me.
My next book that I plan on reading, I have been in a boom reading where I have only given like 3 stars so I hope this gets me out of it this book week interesting
About to have some Lemon Zinger in my new birthday mug (tomorrow‘s my birthday!) from my mom. The back has the constellation and Virgo qualities.
I told my husband I‘m not planning to go to the used book store on our upcoming Dallas trip, in favor of other things. He said, “well, of course not, you just went.” That was in June and I only got stuff for the kid. It‘s like he doesn‘t know me at all. 😆
YOWZA. Super scandalous (verging on taboo) and seriously steamy. Probably not for everyone though - basically this 19yo girl ends up having off-the-charts chemistry with her boyfriend's dad. Say whaaa?? 😳🙈🔥 #romantsy
Now don't mind me while I hunt down more of Penelope Douglas' books bc this was my first but definitely not my last!
#nonbookishpost BUT I just had to share. Today is my birthday and my hubs surprised me this morning with my favorite snacks and the beautifully wrapped present are books that I have been wanting. He set this up before he left for work in the AM. I‘m feeling so grateful ❤️
Thank you for being so sweet @Tanless_Tanner
Shout out to all the other September babies out there!

I enjoyed this book. I liked Jordan and Pike together, even though they have a 19 year age gap, Jordan is ahead of her time. She loves 80s movie, music and paraphernalia, and she's simple. She just wants to not be a burden to anyone and she wants someone who will love her. She wants a home of her own one day, with kids and a husband. Her relationship with Cole (Pike's son) wasn't really a relationship, so I'm happy she ended up with Pike
