March #bookspin #childrensclassicread2024
Hard to believe I went this long in life without reading this gem. Such beautiful descriptions of nature, and a heartwarming tale that made me miss my grandparents. So glad I read it and so glad I purchased the book.
Thx so much @TheBookHippie for including Heidi in this month‘s #ChildrensClassicRead2024. I finally read this gem for the first time and loved it! 🙌🏻 I also watched the film version (on VHS!) with my Mom. Of course, the book is so much better, but the movie is perfectly cast with Shirley Temple as Heidi & it‘s quite amusing too. What a heartwarming adventure!
P.S. Count me in when we all move to the mountains and tend our goats!🐐
@Morr_Books
I enjoyed this book. I'm a little tempted to move to a Swiss village with the smell of fresh air, surrounded by flowers and goats and no technology. I'll be daydreaming about that while I'm stuck in front of my computer for too many hours tomorrow. #childrensclassicread2024 @TheBookHippie
Took a mental health day on Friday and decided to read this book over my long weekend. This book has been on my kids' lit bookshelf for years, but I never read it. Watched the Shirley Temple movie a million times as a kid though. #ChildrensClassicRead2024
@TheBookHippie
I absolutely loved this book. It reminded me of Little Lord Fauntleroy in that Heidi is such a ray of sunshine that she makes everyone around her happier, but not in such a sickly sweet way as Fauntleroy. I loved the gorgeous Swiss setting in the Alps; I loved the characters; I loved the plot and the happy things that result from people being good to each other. Books intended for children don‘t need to be for just children!
Absolutely one of my new favorite classics 💙 I love how Heidi finding her faith and sharing it with others felt so natural and was just an overflow of her joy and love for others! A perfect spring-time read 🌷😊
I used this for my number 23 Free space for #bookspinbingo

Enjoying this lovely read on the first day warm enough to open the windows & enjoy the fresh breeze 🏔🌲🌷

I love the Shirley Temple movie version of the book but I‘ve never read it. This would be a beautiful edition to own.
The first book I thought of was Heidi. Her reclusive, grumpy grandfather doesn‘t want a little girl to come and live with him, but her love and cheerfulness change him. #tarottakeover #thehermit

Thanks for the tag @Cosmos_Moon 🥰🤗
🥭I love love mangoes!
📚 the tagged book from when I was in middle school that I loved growing up. Whenever I think of summer, it always brings me back to Heidi. A stark difference from the summers I grew up in! 🥵🤣
🐬 No I haven‘t but we did spot stingrays here in the canal during the lockdown.
@ItsAnotherJen @NeedsMoreBooks @MySharonaK wanna play?😄
Books I own but have yet to read.
Yesterday was a gloomy, rainy day, and I was home for most of it, so I actually finished another book from my #BookSpinBonanza list!! Heidi is very old-fashioned and gently religious, but it has lost none of its charm in the 140 years since it was published.
One of my favorite childhood stories. #mountains #MagicalMay @Eggs
This was my #doublespin pick. Oh! I enjoyed the beautiful description of Swiss mountains especially during this period where we can‘t step outside. It is a light n quick reading, feels like fresh air, with lots of positive thoughts n hopes. Little Heidi‘s character is very cute one. One can learn about the power of prayers as well. 4⭐️
This can also fit in #ReadingEurope2020 #Switzerland #setinEurope
I've never tried a challenge of this sort before, so I'm not sure how far I will get. However, I printed out a blank map of Europe and will go from there. And I definitely have been wanting to reread the tagged book, so I have at least ONE idea so far! :-D

I never read Heidi as a child, so I don‘t have any sentimental strings attached. I don‘t feel this one has aged as well as other children‘s books from the mid to late 1800‘s, like Little Women. It was also quite preachy, esp the 2nd half. It is a sweet story.
It did fill a lot of prompts!

I started off thinking I‘d rate this read of it (an audio) 4 stars, I decided on 3.5 (good). I suspect it might have been better to read it, rather than listen; however, fond memories remain. I did enjoy the reminder of what actually happened in the book (although it does seem I missed bits and pieces, here and there – I suspect I wouldn‘t have if I‘d not listened to the audio).
#wanderingjune @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB This classic of my childhood reminded me of #mountains. And when you google images of the book it‘s all about the Alps.
Heidi, by Johanna Spyro, Best Children‘s Literature, literary fiction, read aloud. The story is an orphan girl, Heidi was sent to live with her grandfather who went to live in the Alps. This is a touching story as her grandfather turns out to be welcoming and loving and let‘s Heidi live in the mountains. Heidi loves living up in the Alps. This is my first time reading Heidi. It was my mum's favorite when she was little, so I decided to give it a read. It's such a fast paced, yet sweet story. Can't wait to finish this! #currentlyreading #heidi #johannaspyri #childrensclassic #childrensbook #classics
I haven't read this book growing up, so will read along with my girl
Heidi books on my shelves for #theheidiproject @KassKho
On "my" shelves but taken from my sister many years ago; it's all water under the bridge now. ? The Heidi book (right) is by an Indian press, St. Paul Publications, and it's from 1976 with illustrations by Ian Pinto. And I just realised that Heidi Grows Up was written by Charles Tritten, Spyri's translator. This edition is also from 1976, by The Children's Press.
#Riotgrams Day 18 #somethingpretty I love this edition of Heidi. I'm in love with these Puffin in Bloom editions.
I have many books with proper names in the titles on my shelves, so I went with well-loved classics that have only a name as the title.

This beautiful edition of Heidi was a gift from my dad. It is a childhood favorite and caused me to become obsessed with Switzerland at the age of 8. I finally got a chance to visit in college. Think I will reread this book this year. #titleswithapropername #readjanuary

One year ago, I started reading 'Heidi' and decided that my new year resolution would be to read 24 books - 2 a month.
I read 35!
My resolution for this year would be - 3 books a month. Fingers crossed.
Happy New Year! 🎉😘🎉
My dear grandmother, who passed away last year, used to read an illustrated Heidi to me as a small child. I was heartbroken when that book got lost and haven't read the story since. But since buying this beautiful edition I can't wait for the right moment to read it again ❤

I've read a lot of middle grade books as an adult thanks to my kids, but for today's #funfridayphoto I chose a book dear to me in childhood. I loved the story (and movie!) of Heidi, and the book itself felt special to me as a child - a nice, hefty book with wonderful illustrations.
The last of the #lilbookishseptember post, and the challenge is for a classic... And I chose "Heidi" because it was the first classic my eyes happened upon at the library ? and I've so many gorgeous autumn posts on my feed lately, I just thought I'd add a little spring to the mix ??
What's your favorite classic? I have to admit I'm a sucker for all things Jane Austen.

Ah, Fraulein Rottenmeier, how you terrified little girls into thinking that they, too, could be sold to the gypsies! You were the first real villain I can remember, along with Miss Minchin. Being an orphan isn't any fun! #favevillain #somethingforseptember
The setting of this book is wonderful , who would not want to go live up a mountain ( provided you had enough books and hot chocolate supplies )
