This is quite exciting. Most exciting is getting it off my Netgalley backlog.

I made it about 1/3 of the way through before I had to call it quits. I found the plot lacking of originality, but most importantly the characters were boring and occasionally annoying. I wish I could have finished this one, however it couldn‘t hold my interest.
Can everybody PLEASE read this series?! I fell in love with it but it has no Fandom and I'm alone in my feelings!
I'm already 3.5 hours into the #20in4 #readathon. @Andrew65
I've finished A Curse... and read 5chapters of its sequel A Heart...
Now a few chapters in my #buddyread with @DuckOfDoom and @Maike.
Then a chapter in the tagged book, a buddyread with my daughter.
#GhostCat did not approve of my taking pictures of books, but is happily sleeping on my legs now.

Really enjoyed this story. Yumeko was interesting to get to see grow. Yes she‘s still frightened, but every time something happened, she stepped forward more to help save the day. Which is still humorous how she‘s intrigued the likes of a thief and a sword obsessed prince. They all came together over Yumeko being kind. I saw the ending coming, but it didn‘t make it any less devastating. Interested what‘s to come next in protecting the scroll
100 pages left! This entire book has been the journey between the monks temples. I love Yumeko so much, she has such a kind heart and doesn‘t understand how the world around her has to be so mean. She‘s constantly trying to do better. Tatsumi is also slowly falling for Yumeko. Talk about a show burn! Now we have a bandit and a prince join this merry group - all unknowing Yumeko has a scroll piece -which anyone would kill her for, including Tatsumi
So we‘re on our way through the mythical world. Yumeko is hiding the Dragon Scroll from her demon slayer companion - as that‘s what he is after. Yet here we go with them beginning to get closer to understanding each other. Even if Tatsumi doesn‘t care at all; he was brought up as a weapon for the demon blade. It‘s amazing how different they are, and cannot wait to see if they keep being companions of turn upon each other. Even with the demon blade
Not gonna lie, but I picked this book up solely for the reason that I loved the authors last series (Talon). I know almost nothing about this book outside that it‘s based of demons trying to obtain the Thousand Prayers scroll that would bring them back to conquer the earth. Yumecko sounds like an interesting woman - half Kitsune, half human with the ability to shape shift. I have seen many mixed reviews about this book -mostly good, I‘m excited
One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish—and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos.
Now, for whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers, a new wish will be granted. A new age is about to dawn.
This will be my first book for the #Asianreadathon
That ending!! 😱 I could totally see ‘Shadow of the Fox‘ becoming an ace Netflix series. I loved the Japanese integration, the supernatural lore, and the ‘Wizard Of Oz‘ like cast of unlikely friends. Need Part 2.... 🦊
Moving on to another #BOTM I‘ve had *forever*.
I‘ve got 20-some odd pages left and it‘s clear I‘m going to have to find the second book in the series because I won‘t get an ending to this adventure in Book 1 😭
Unexpectedly, this is the perfect way to ease into #Halloween season (my fave time of the year)....
I‘m really enjoying these characters. May need to seek out the rest of the series.
Saving for later to look up more about the *oni* — it‘s so interesting that so many cultures have different supernatural creature features/lore to scare & disturb.... 👹
Trading one read book for another “red” book 😂 - this one has sat on my shelves too long. Let‘s remedy that (and tackle a letter in my #LitsyAtoZ in the process)!
Finally a heroine who doesn‘t spend the whole mission swooning over the “hero” every 5 secs during an important mission she needs to complete.
Yumeko is a kitsune, half human and half fox. After a Oni demon attacks and kills all the monks who raised her she now has to protect the dragon scroll.
Enjoyed the characters and the weird family they made reluctantly. I will more than likely read the second.
I really liked the Japanese folklore and world-building. Maybe I‘m ready to try some Manga. Maybe. But, I thought the dialogue was weak and felt really discordant with the setting. That turned me off a bit, but I still want to read the sequel.
I loved Julie Kagawa's Talon series and her Blood Of Eden series. But this? I just can't. I made it to 25%, just out of sheer stubborness. It's just blah to me. I can't relate to the characters, and the story seems slow. 😕
Started reading Shadow of the Fox. I‘m about 62 pages in and if I‘m honest I‘m not really enjoying it so far I may wind up DNFing this book though I‘m trying to give it at least 100-150 pages before I make that final decision.
Wow!! This book was very different from what I normally read (not because it‘s bad, just because I find anime/manga/etc culture intimidating!!) but I totally loved it!! I loved the world, the characters, the story, and THAT ENDING OMG 😱😱❤️ Can‘t wait for the sequel. Also I loved the magic system and the MC and ugghhhhh just you know what? Just read it yourself. It‘s great. I promise :D
Great start to a new trilogy!
Strong female lead.
I liked that she added some Japanese words
Despite the slow burn and length of time it took me to get through this YA fantasy, I ultimately ended up enjoying it. I loved the mythology and world-building, but the plot itself kind of plodded along. The story is very much rooted in Japanese folklore, and I loved that aspect! Enough for me to pick up the sequel when it is published later this year.

I don‘t think I‘ve ever been the only person on the Charleston Pier! Our hotel is across the street, and I came out to catch the sun rise. No luck there, it‘s an eerily foggy morning! But I do have the swinging benches all to myself and a quiet spot to finish my book.
I made a friend today while hanging out at a historical site reading my book! Took a break from all the walking we did today! #LitsyWalkers #unusual
I‘m slowly becoming invested in this story, but the numerous typos are driving me nuts! This is just one example.
I took a live class today, so I did what any sane person would do while waiting for it to begin, pedal and read! *Don‘t try this outdoors. 😂😂
I‘m struggling to get into this one. It has all the elements I usually love: inspired by mythology, interesting magical creatures, and a mischievous and likable main character. Not sure why I keep putting it down, and can only get through one chapter a day. #OwlCrate #OwlCrateSociety

2box subscriptions=2same books😳One is an exclusive edition, at least.YA fantasy book which will be discussed in a Yutuber channel that I follow. Full of adventure, sometimes gory in the description of battles with demons, full of magic with elements of Japanese-samurai folklore which I need to read more. Love the relationship of 3 unlikely characters:Yumeko, Okame & Tarsumi. So funny. Some romance elements. I really enjoyed it as a YA story3.6⭐️
That moment when you‘ve had the ebook for maybe a month and you didn‘t realize it had a preview for the sequel 😱. I have a physical copy of the book and normally I use that when I want to reread certain parts. This time I checked my ebook and stumbled onto this. I don‘t think the physical copy had an excerpt in it.
My little fox creature approves whole heartedly of this one! While not a perfect book (although in the words of my beloved German grandma, 'but what do I know?'), it feels like a vivid anime full of colorful villains, lovable heroes, sassy side kicks, and dreamy backdrops full of shadows and magic. There were also weasels with blade feet, hungry ghosts, and frequent descriptions of food. Ella is mostly here for the food.
Ella Fuzz Fox Face loves the snow. This book would make an excellent anime series. Lady Satomi is a perfect villain and an illustrator would have an absolute blast bringing this to life. Lots of color and opportunity to work in traditional Japanese imagery. Anywho, this is an enjoyable one so far! Lots of blood and guts too....if you are into that...☃️❄☃️☃️☃️
....and now I'm reading this one. Pretty sure Ella is part magical fox creature.
This book checked off so many boxes for me — an utterly swoony, slow-burn romance between two people who‘re as dynamic on their own as they are together. A fascinating fantasy world made out of Japanese mythology. A plot that is masterfully crafted to create perfect tension. I did feel like I was slogging through the writing at times, which annoyed me a bit, though I still enjoyed the story. A compelling, character-driven fantasy. ★★★★☆
#illalwayslovethisbook. #anewchapter I think this might be one of those book for me. It really feels like an anime in book form and I can‘t get it out of my head a month after reading it.
#currentlyreading | a book that promises murder & mayhem. Who could ask for anything more? #yalitsy
Book number 76 of my year and I need a new story ASAP
5⭐'s. I loved it! I adore Japanese culture and folklore so I loved every second of this book!
Girl who is half-kitsune (fox shapeshifter) and has a sought-after legendary scroll meets boy who is a trained assassin and has orders to kill for the same scroll. The two become unlikely travel companions, battling demons and monsters together. Being half-Japanese, I couldn‘t get enough of the Japanese mythology, anime-inspired heroes and villains, and Sengoku era-inspired settings. Love this so hard and super excited for the sequel!
The blurb seemed so interesting so I got this last weekend.
It is #Sunday and #readingtime , and I am taking my slow, sweet time «Shadow of The Fox» by Julie Kagawa?

If anyone wants my Telegram there it is. I feel like this app would be good for chats or group chats since Litsy doesn‘t have a chat feature.
Finished this last night. It was so good. I love the action and even the slow burn romance. I especially loved all the Japanese mythology. I can‘t wait for book 2.
Talking #TsundokuProblems with @dgingo on a Friday night.
Pretty cool so far. I‘m hoping to get this done by Saturday because a few people on YouTube are doing a liveshow for this book. Always love seeing other people‘s thoughts on a book
