Can't see where it's going, apart from back and forth in the characters' timelines.
Should have stopped reading the series after the first book. 😬

Locke and Sabetha are lovers, though Locke wishes for more.

Started stitching out this pattern; lots of shades of gray - not quite fifty, though!
Going to finish my audiobook tonight; love me some Gentleman Bastards 🥰
I finished my Paint with Diamonds 💎 pirate ship 🏴☠️!
Such a fun craft 😍
@mabell check out the final image.

Started this book today, super excited to get back into the Gentlemen Bastards‘ series!
Locke and Jean ❤️
Stunning continuation to the series, Lynch does not dissapoint
This was much more like the first installment than the second and I loved it more because of that fact. I also love that we get to actually see and learn more about Sabetha. It was great to see the whole gang again as there are two timelines in the book one before the events of the first book and one in the “current“ time. I can see why everyone is impatiently waiting for the next one.

Third book in the Gentleman Bastards series. Once again it‘s 2 stories in one intertwining the gang‘s present adventure with a past adventure. This time Sabetha joins the story. Her character needs a little more depth which I hope will be provided by Lynch in book 4. Still a fun read with the most creative swearing ever committed to paper. 🤣 4⭐️s
And that‘s a night. 16 hours, 20 minutes total read. 1,084 total pages (counting a graphic novel). 2 books & 1 graphic novel finished: The Demon in the Freezer (Richard Preston); Gods, Monsters, and the Lucky Peach (Kelly Robson); The Wicked + The Divine, Book 1 (Kieron Gillen). Progress in Republic Of Thieves (Scott Lynch) and Grunt (Mary Roach), plus of a few hours of listening to Aurora Rising (Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman). 🤓📚📖 #24in48
This series is phenomenal! Why did I wait so long to read book 3? I guess maybe because I knew the next book wasn‘t released yet...
The craftiness and cunning of these characters floors me every time! The political intrigue is genius! Plus the stories are really fun, and I love that the Gentlemen Bastards have their own unnamed god of thieves.
I loved seeing Sabetha and Locke‘s backstory. So good! Such tension!
@Mitch have you read these?
I spent a big chunk of the day #audiostainedglassing 😊. I finished a whole bunch of pieces I‘ve had in the works for the last 6 months. It‘s nice to be feeling inspired!
It‘s also nice to have Jean and Locke keeping me company in the glass studio. Fantasy Audiobook #chunksters rock!
“What is government but theft by consent?”
Yep, that feels pretty accurate these days.

I immediately thought of this cover after reading the prompt...
Good lord I need that next book...its been foooooorever! 😭

Just wrapped up The Republic of Thieves, and I‘m sad that I have to wait an indefinite amount of time for more Locke and Jean in my life.
I liked this book. But honestly, it‘s was just north of a meh for me. The ending is probably what saved it from that fate because I‘m 550 pages there wasn‘t a lot that I found exciting or compelling. The romance angle did absolutely nothing for me and the political side wasn‘t executed as well as it has been in other books. Right now I‘m debating on whether or not I‘ll continue with this series. It joins the Kingkiller Chronicles on that list.
This is taking me forever. As has been true for all of the books in this series, it would seems all of the action and excitement is saved for the end. I‘ve still got 200 pages to go. Nothing like 500 pages of build up
It took me forever to get through river of teeth, despite the fact hat it was only 160 pages. Work was crazy this week, I didn‘t even have a chance to take my lunch break most days, but things should settle down this week and I‘m hoping to get through this in a timely fashion
I didn‘t enjoy it quite as much as the first two, but it was still highly entertaining.
That moment when you‘re about to shut your book and go to bed and a plot twist is dropped in your lap...
Trying to relax with a book and a face mask, and this cat is just RIGHT THERE all of a sudden. #catsoflitsy #nozoom
#fiercefeb #lamaposeur Locke Lamora and his crew The Gentlemen Bastards are always trying to separate gullible rich people from 💰. They specialize in the long con and can impersonate anyone.
I was tagged by @LazyOwl for the #5fordinner. I picked these five because they're some of my favorite authors. I also know that some of them are real life friends and would have fun shenanigans!
1) Chuck Wendig
2) Delilah Dawson
3) Patrick Rothfuss
4) Scott Lynch
5) Neil Gaiman
I tag @myellenbee and anyone who wants to do it!
Here's my September TBR! Set pretty modest reading goals for the month because Reading Slump 2017 continues 😓. But I've already finished one book, so I'm off to a good start!

When you're packing for a long vacation but 1) Tome Topple is coming up and 2) you don't know what reading mood you'll be in. I guess I'm going to have a full car 😓
In this third book in the Gentlemen Bastards, Locke and Jean are in a #awholenewworld #jubilantjuly . Locke, as usual, has been saved from certain death and tasked with fixing an election for their arch enemies the Bondsmage .They are definitely #wherethewildthingsare #90sinJuly .
"I don't expect life to make sense," he said after a few moments, "but it could certainly be pleasant if it would stop kicking us in the balls.”
A follow-up to my #aQuoteaDay post from yesterday. Locke and Jean just can't seem to catch a break.
The latest in the Gentlemen Bastards series, where fantasy meets crime caper. Lynch really tells two stories here, and the continual back and forth slows the narrative down a bit. It's also considerably darker than the previous two as the creepy Bondsmagi play a greater role. Still great fun though.
"You're a difficult woman, Sabetha. But then, difficult women are the only ones worth falling in love with."
I must remember that quote for my wife's next wedding anniversary card ;)
Despite the fact that the character of Sabetha was quite disappointing, and Jean's role was reduced, Lynch once again delivered in impeccable plot, worldbuilding and lead-up to the next book. What I love about his characters is that no matter what awesome skills they possess they are still very much fallible. And in my opinion all three books show this. Also we find out some spine-tingling facts about Karthain and the Magi.
Finished this thrilling fantasy over #booksandcoffee this morning. Lynch crafted compelling characters in the Gentleman Bastards, and the latest entry does NOT disappoint. Magic, fisticuffs, and skulduggery bind Locke and Jean vs. Sabetha in a contest to rig the Karthain elections. Every page crackles with wit and double-cross as the Bastards vie to best each other and the powers that would use them as pawns. This book = SO much fun 👏👏👏
Sigh. So many cookies to bake... but my spot is waiting!
Well, THAT'S a great big no 😳❄️ Luckily I have a fresh book waiting on deck. Oh, and loads of housework, but nuts to that as well!
Locke and Jean are my pick for #favefriends #booktober and this third book is also #tbrTuesdays. Can't wait to read this next instalment in their crazy adventures. Saving for when I need a great escape 📚
This one so far is the best out of the series. I love the way Lock Lamora's mind works or Scott Lynch's mind actually. This book is full of twists and turns, back and forth, and a serious surprise ending.
Just finished my re-read of this book and cannot wait for the next one! I loved seeing more Calo, Galdo, and Sabetha. Twists and turns galore, this has fast become one of my favorite series!
“Place ten dozen hungry orphan thieves in a dank burrow of vaults and tunnels beneath what used to be a graveyard, put them under the supervision of one partly crippled old man, and you will soon find that governing them becomes a delicate business.”
I love this series so much; breathless, giddy, crying, laughing! Trying to read this one slowly; I'll be lost when it's over...
I was going through my recent signed copies and saw this again. I will never not be completely blown away and touched by this. #elizabethbear #scottlynch
Not a bad read by any stretch, but I did not enjoy this one as much as the previous two Gentleman Bastard books. The schemes didn't feel as grand, the interludes wore on me and I wanted more Jean & Locke banter. But I did enjoy Sabetha and her romance with Locke more than I thought I would!
Our grifters now get into the dirtiest business of all: politics!
