Pete‘s laid-back attitude after stepping in different things and changing his shoe color teaches kids how to adapt when things don‘t go as planned.
Pete the Cat goes for a walk in his white shoes, which change colors as he steps in various items, but he stays cool and positive throughout. The catchy, repetitive text and sing-song rhythm make this book fun for kids, while the message of resilience and keeping a positive attitude shines through.
I love Pete the Cat. He‘s so groovy. In this installment, Pete goes walking around in his shoes, stepping in stuff, messing up the color, and loving every minute of it. He‘s such a happy cat, and my 4 year old just adores this book.

The moral of Pete‘s story is: No matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song
Pete the cat is a fictional, picture book that provides good classroom morale and learning lessons. Pete can be a quiet character but always is friendly and offers voice of reason for his friend group. Good role model!
My kids love Pete the cat stories. We found it on Amazon Prime if you wanted to watch it too. 🥰
We finished our cat books puzzle today. This one was super quick to put together and tons of fun.
Puzzle is called Feline Tales by Re-Marks. We bought ours at Barnes and Noble.
Lately we have been donating our puzzles, once we've completed them, to the local Little Free Library, but I think we may hang onto this one to do again.
Henry's excited about our latest book puzzle. This one has all cat titles (including his favorite, Pete the Cat). 🐈⬛
This MF book would make a fun choral read CR in class, so the students can sing along with Pete each time he sings about his shoes. This story teaches kids to look at the bright side of situations, as Pete says “because it‘s all good”.

Pete the Cat is a MF book written by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean. Pete the cat is an adorable book about a cat named Pete and his new white shoes! Pete is skipping around town in his new white shoes and a long the way, he steps in some funky fun substances that change the color of his shoes. Pete did not see this as a bad thing. Instead,Pete stayed positive, loved his new shoes no matter what, and knew that all is good in the world!
Pete the Cat I love my white shoes By Eric Litwin and Illustrated By James Dean. What a fun book to read and follow along with! This picture book is an MF and would work great using it as a RA with the entire class. The repetition in the book is great for EL students!
This book is so fun! Great read! I love all of the visuals and think that the repetitiveness allows for a great esol book as well! This book is fantasy/ fiction and is a picture book. For this story I would use a read aloud strategy! I think it would be a great story to incorporate multi media and props while reading to really enhance the story and to connect the listener with the book!

"Can I read before my nap like you, Mommy?" - Conley, age 4
“Pete loved his white shoes so much, he sang this song“
I would use this book in my classroom because the students would enjoy the pattern of the book and the color changing.
This is a picture book because it extends the text by showing what color Pete's shoes are when they change color. The pictures are accurate and consistent by following along with the text and changing when the setting changes.
Pete the Cat is the grooviest literary #blackcat! My youngest daughter loved these books when she was younger and we had some fun times reading about Pete‘s shenanigans! #fallisbooked
This picture book would be great for children learning colors.
Pete the Cat was a great read. The moral of the story was that whatever you step in just keep singing your song.
Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes, a MF picture book written by James Dean and illustrated by Eric Litwin, would be a great story to use for S. This book is so fun and repetitive which is great for students who are learning English! (Cont.) #ucflae3414su19
This MF short picture book written my Eric Litwin & illustrated by James Dean about how this cat keeps moving & grooving despite all the messes he gets on his new white shoes.

Usually my daughter gets majorly freaked out by costumed characters - but not Pete the Cat! We had fun at the literacy festival today (after migratory bird day at the wildlife refuge).
It‘s a draw and paint Pete the Cat kind of day in first grade art 💙 #teachersoflitsy #kidart
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book has a very Don‘t Worry be Happy feel and I love it. Strawberries, blueberries, and mud do not matter as long as you keep walking. A great message and a fun story.
Yesterday we said goodbye to our kitty, Cola, who would have been 15 in September. The house feels empty without her. I hope she had a good life, and I hope the end was painless for her. ❤️😺❤️
If you are a teacher/parent run to Kohl‘s and grab Pete, Biscuit, Pinkalicious and their 3 in 1 books!!! #teachersoflitsy
Working in bare feet today after trying to stop, or at least redirect, a flooding sink in the women‘s bathroom. Thank goodness it was the sink and not the toilet!

Had to say goodbye to this sweet guy this morning. Peter was quite the snuggler. We‘ll miss him. 🐾💔
I Love My White Shoes is a short story of Pete the Cat and his shoes.. They don't stay white the whole story but it doesn't phase Pete one bit. The author Eric Litwin and the music creator James Dean came together to create a fun and engaging series that really capture students attention.
Pete the Cat is a modern fantasy (MF) that would be great to use for storytelling (S). This book is catchy and easy to remember. Students would have so much fun telling the story of pete‘s white shoes to their classmates. This book has been the New York Times Best Seller for 108 weeks and in 2011 it won the ReadKiddoRead ward for Best Illustrated Books. #UCFLAE3414SP18
I love this book so much! Pete the cat I love my white shoes by the one and only Eric Litwin. The book falls into modern fantasy (F) which won a Theodor Seuss Geisel honor award. This book is beautifully made for children, it allows children to have fun and learn a couple of Colors throughout. I love that at the end of the book there is a moral: "no matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song......"
Pete the Cat is on another adventure, this time with his new white shoes! No matter what messes Pete steps in, he just keeps moving along. A New York Times best seller. I love the idea that there is a free song that goes along with the book.#UCFLAE3414SP18 See comments for more..
This is Barda. She loves shoes. She will lay on them with a paw inside. She will rub her face all over them. She's a big girl so sometimes she covers the shoes completely. @erinreads I hope she made you smile. #CatsOfLitsy #CatPicsForErin #Barda
Pete has so many different great life lessons. Never knew about Pete the Cat until i got this book given to me it is such a great book to read to kids to teach them about life lessons and it even has a sing along to go with it.
I think I finally found my storytelling book!! 🤩
This fun interactive F book by Eric Litwin and James Dean makes for a great for CR! Pete the Cat has a pair of white shoes but he steps in things which stain his shoes. But does Pete cry? Goodness, no! This laid back Cat teaches kids not to worry about the little things and that “it‘s all good”. #ucflae3414f17
