pickA re-read of an old favorite was how I fulfilled the #RemindsYouofaHappyPlace prompt for the #Booked2019 Winter challenge. I actually had a hard time choosing something for this prompt because I don't really have a dedicated "happy place". As such I thought reading about the first foreign country I ever traveled to would work. This is such a lovely travelogue that it was fun to pull it off the shelf and recall that warm Italian sun.

pickI've seen the movie and always liked it, but I wanted to read the book before my recent trip to Italy. It didn't happen but I read it today, having just returned.
The book is COMPLETELY different from the movie. I liked it, but it did lose me a few times. Perhaps had I known more of what to expect, I'd have liked it more.
Still, beautiful and makes me miss Italy. Also, bonus: recipes! Yum.
pickThis is an absolutely gorgeous book that I would recommend to anyone looking for a light-hearted memoir.

France!! I went there my senior year of high school as a class trip for students who took French class (20 *coughs* years ago lol). It‘s a beautiful country and we went all over, from Paris to Nice. I would love to travel to Florence Italy because that is where my Grandma was born and raised. I actually rented this movie and we watched it together. This wanderlust heart is made to travel. Pretty much everywhere I go I get so caught up in the culture or scenery that I'm never ready to come home. One of my favorites, though, was visiting the Alps in Germany. We were able to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle, took a cable car to the top of the Alps, and saw some cathedrals. There is so much history and culture there that I don't think I can ever see it all. #7DAYSGIVEAWAY

This is fun! Definitely when my hubby and I went to Hawaii and got engaged - 28 years ago! After 2 weeks he was going back to Korea and I was headed home. ☹️ Most recently our trip to Emerald Isle, NC. It was our 50th birthday/25th wedding anniversary trip. 🏖🌊🐚

I‘m behind on #readingresolutions, so here‘s both #TravelTuesday and #WishfulWednesday! I studied in Florence during college, and planned to go back in 2016 to mark the 20th anniversary of that semester. But then my husband & I both lost jobs that year & we couldn‘t afford the trip. I wish to go back someday & someday I will! I loved both of these books for all their reminders of Italy—I read Bella Tuscany when I returned to Florence in 2006. 😊
I'm thinking of choosing this for movie/book club but the reviews are making me think twice.

1. The tagged book sticks out in my memory because it sounded like it had such delicious recipes and I was always hungry while reading it. However, I found it odd that while living in Italy, the author never talks to Italian people.

pick(Disclaimer - listened to audio). This was hard to get into. It's written like a journal, but doesn't always follow chronological order. Admittedly, I've seen the movie and they are VERY different. By itself, its not a bad book, and the recipes provided sound intriguing.
It's the first day of summer and I'm just about to start reading Under the Tuscan Sun. Which, to me, seems quite perfect. Have you read it? What did you think? I love the film but have heard they're quite different. Very much looking forward to something new!

pickI ended up enjoying this book more than I expected. There are sections that feel like filler, as other people have detailed, but overall, the story of the house restoration and the descriptions of Tuscany and Italian village life kept my interest. 3.5⭐️ The picture is from the Italian Piedmont because I've been there, but not to Tuscany. We don't always stay on the beaten path. #LetterU #LitsyAtoZ
